    • I’m gonna be honest even if Miguel was right his ridiculing and beat down of Miles (who is a kid) is incredibly harsh to where I question his mental state. He says all this stuff about “if the spider never bit you none of this would have happened” as if Miles chose to be bitten by the spider and chose to let his world’s Peter die. I feel like Miguel just sees a contradiction to the canon event logic he lives by and hates it as it implies that his family’s death wasn’t a set in stone thing because of his mistake. What I mean by Miles being a contradiction is that his Peter wasn’t supposed to die and yet his world hasn’t been completely dissolved. If a minor change to the “uncle ben” or “captain stacy” parts of the story are enough to wreck a whole world then shouldn’t the person who was supposed to live through those events dying mean its all over?

  • I think people are misunderstanding Miles. He's not saying saving the Spiderverse isn't important, he's just not gonna sacrifice an innocent person, especially if that person is his father, to do so. Like Peter in Edge of Time said "What's important is not standing by and letting innocent people suffer or die, because you do nothing" For clarification for those still confused, that quote means that Spider-Man shouldn't just *let* someone die. If Miles tries to save his dad and fails, the canon event plays out and everything is fine. But Miguel is saying he should just let his dad die and not do anything about it, which is not what being Spider-Man is about

    @Vesperitis@Vesperitis6 ай бұрын
    • But great responsibility also means great care. Messing with powers or forces beyond your knowledge and control is how you get Strange Supreme. If anything, in my opinion, he's taking Great Power and Great Responsibility to the utmost extreme, which is still detrimental, but not the antithesis. They're not dealing with a city here, their choices will affect every world in all of the multiverse. Not saying he's doing it right, but that task will and has taken a toll on him.

      @excaliburknight1016@excaliburknight10166 ай бұрын
    • @@excaliburknight1016 that extreme could also be born from his one mistake and the revelation of the consequences. Remember, a timeline/dimension had collapsed because Migel had thought to replace a version of him who died. There’s also another thing to point out: gwen making up with her dad. If migel saw what happened there, pretty sure he’d call that a “breaking of a canon event”, as, for a short while, Gwen’s dad was police captain… but he quit the job. Migel, even if to protect the multiverse, is acting too strict and hard over the supposed choices made. Has to be a reason that it’s called the MULTIVERSE! Not every event goes canon because there’s always an alternate choice made somewhere else. Pretty sure dimensional collapses are caused by the world colliders that Spot is siphoning off of, anyway.

Yeah you can’t save everyone, not even Spider-Man can save everyone. But you know what makes Spider-Man great? He tries anyways. If he fails he doesn’t give up trying to save everyone and more often than not Spider-Man always finds a way and pulls a miracle.

    • I think there’s truth in this, BUT I also think that Miguel is the true villain. There’s something he’s hiding. The claws, the fangs, the cape, the injections and many other things make me think he’s not a pure spider person. At first he gave off that “brooding damaged male” trope, but the way he flies off the handle makes me think there’s more he’s hiding. Sure, the need to allow canon events to happen might be necessary, but Miguel’s abuse and hated of Miles is pretty unwarranted. Especially since its pretty obvious that it’s not Miles’ fault he was bit by earth 42’s spider. He’s not the original anomaly. Also I think if he was a real anomaly, his world would’ve disintegrated the second he was bit. There already was a Spider-Man in his universe. Gwen being on earth 1610 is also an anomaly. I think there’s something directly linking Miles and Miguel and Miguel hasn’t told anyone. His story is a half truth. Either way, I can’t wait for the next movie. I’m prepared to have my mind blown

    • I feel like he sees Miles as a living contradiction to Miguel’s canon event theory and can’t cope with that. What I mean is that Miguel says the Peter Parker in Miles world was not supposed to die and yet that world did not unravel. If changes to the canon like an uncle Ben figure surviving or a Captain Stacy figure is enough to unravel a whole world then shouldn’t the person who was supposed to live through those events dying just mean its over? Miguel when asked if they know what will happen if the canon is broken just shuts it down with “do you want to know!?” Which shows even he doesn’t have an answer. I feel like he’s still dealing with the guilt of losing his family and finds solace in the idea that it was his mistake and that that is the definitive way they would have gone out due to his meddling but now he is seeing Miles defy that logic which is why Miguel is so volatile towards him. Just my interpretation on him as a character.

It's basically like what the three Peters in No Way Home were doing at first, except in here there's like hundreds of them, some of which are vastly different from the average Spider-Man, and none of them ever stop to 'regroup' or form a plan real quick.

    • The only ways that Miles can maybe avoid endangering "all the people on his planet", are: 1. The other Spidermen bring in technology to try to contain the damage, like they did for the Indian Spiderman... And they succeed. 2. Because Miles isn't meant to be Spiderman, he gets lucky in that his life doesn't have to include all the usual Spiderman events. Either way, it'd be a cop out. The only good ending here is that Miles experiences his loss, and grows, like all the other Spidermen.

That even if his father follows the canon event it might meant nothing since nothing happened to Gwen's father when he resigned as a captain. He has retractable claws because (in real life) spiders that are too heavy to use suction, often have retractable claws. He has (retractable) fangs, because (in real life) spiders have fangs, and he can inject a paralyzing venom with them (at least he could in one of the comics I owned as a little kid). He doesn’t have a spider sense, because (in real life) neither do spiders… instead he’s got a sort of accelerated reflexes that process information at the same level someone with a spider sense would, which is close enough… but it doesn’t warn him about anything in advanced, especially if he can’t see it with his eyes (which while not entirely accurate to real life, is still closer to real life than the spider sense). He wasn’t bitten by a radioactive spider, but instead had spider DNA infused into his body directly. Who knows… maybe he’s been adding more to make himself bigger and stronger.

    • One thing I've thought of was they never said who or what villain would be the one to start a cannon event, just that the cannon event itself was a police captain close to Spiderman would die. So if by some reason Spot didn't exist another villain could trigger the cannon, it just so happened that Spot was a much bigger threat to other universes as well

      @juancano3793@juancano37937 ай бұрын
    • The bigger thing is if the canon events are so important than our Miles' universe and the radioactive spiders original universe should have already collapsed. The Easter egg of Insomniac's PS4 spiderman means that's a canon universe and Miles is also a Spiderman in that one, so Miles being a spiderman in other universes is a possibility. The fact that a spider was sent thru to another universe and of all the people it could have bitten is another Miles just goes to show that either the canon events can be transferred over to another universe OR that this was actually a multiversal canon event that was supposed to happen. Either way Miguel is the one preventing canon events once again, not Miles. That or universe collapses are not caused by canon events not happening and Miguel's collapse was something else entirely and likely his own fault for some other reason than he believes

      @SF-hz6ql@SF-hz6ql7 ай бұрын
    • The fact that Miguel is literally letting an Anomaly do canon events is going to backfire on him. Miguel is probably exactly how others treated Spot, a villain of the week. The fact he thinks he can control him will prove to be a fatal mistake, nevertheless catch him. They couldn't even catch Miles, meanwhile, Spot decimated Miles, Gwen, Hobie, and Pavitar with little effort BEFORE his transformation.

      @catprog@catprog3 ай бұрын
  • Miguel is wrong for two main reasons. 1) Miguel is not well. The film even hints that Miguel is suffering when Miles makes a point about men of his dad’s generation ignoring their mental health too much. Hence projecting on Miles and essentially building a cult he controls with fear. He hasn’t processed his grief and thinks that if he can fix the canon of the universe it is the spiritual equivalent of undoing his mistake and bringing his daughter back. 2) Miles isn’t the original anomaly. The 42 spider was. The spider’s presence in 1610 is a result of The Spot’s decision. The Spot chose to work for Alchemax and to stay in a super collider while it was exploding hence he is responsible for his accident. The Spot has always had agency and continues to make the choice of opening various dark matter holes in the multiverse. The multiverse handles canon disruptions just fine but dark matter actually IS disrupting the stability of the multiverse… Spot is being almost completely ignored by Miguel.

We don't know exactly how powerful the Spot is, but he is absolutely a multiversal threat. And in the more theoretocal side of things, and seeing how tons of Soideys from different medua across comics, video games, and cartoons are shown or mentioned in the film, one could assume *all* Spider-Man media us canon to the Spider-Verse. Which includes the 90s Spider-Man cartoon (which featured a parallel universe where Spidey still has his uncle and married Gwen) and the preschool show Spidey and His Amazing Friends (whose preschool-friendly nature means many of the Canon Events such as the death of a captain simply won't happen because it would clash too much with its nature, while others such as Mary Jane and Peter's marriage are also unlikely to happen because A) MJ hasn't debuted yet and B) That Peter is a kid. • An incursion is when someone stays in another universe and causes both dimensions to collide. In the spider verse films, only the person from the alternate universe would die and not both dimensions. Pavitr's dimension was being destroyed because Miles disrupted a canon event that needed to happen. Its basically a fixed point in time, which both Dc and Marvel cofirm its things that need to happen and will happen and if they dont happen, time will be destroyed. Also, Miguel has a point, Miles is so focused on saving his father, while Miguel is focused on saving all creation. In the beginning of the film, he fixed everything that was left unchecked from the first film. Miles will need to learn hoe to sacrifice for the greater good, which spider man in general has to go through sooner or later. Tom hollan spider man lost everything for the sake of the multiverse. Insomniac spider man lost aunt may for the sake of the world.

I think Miguel is so hung up on his ideas of fate stemming from his own loss and trauma that he forgot that life is simply an interconnected web of different people reacting to different events, usually outside their control. It make more sense for a world to adapt to a new timeline of Canon events because of the results of one changed one. That what happened to earth 42, 1610, and maybe even Peter b Parkes world because of mayday. Those worlds are changed but still around. And on top of all that, keep in mind that Miguel is basing his conclusions about all other spider worlds on his one experience.
