  • As a chronic IBS sufferer who lives his life by charting a course between accessible restrooms from point to point and evaluating every morsel of food I eat, I'm so glad to hear this discussion about IBS. Its a topic that is so rarely discussed and understood, even among the medical community.

    @arjunlalb_@arjunlalb_2 ай бұрын
    • I'm with you! I endured similar experience since I was diagnosed with IBS at 17. It's been hard but at 34 now it's much more manageable. This conversation makes me feel so seen.

    • Mine was diagnosed only 3 years ago after so many doctors discarding it as gastritis after a multitude of tests for years. But once my current doc diagnosed it, I've been able to keep it under control and manageable for the most part with his help and lifestyle changes. Glad you have it manageable as well!

    • I am 17 years old and was diagnosed with IBS 3 months ago. It is so irritating as I have to go for a bowel movement frequently. I don't know what to do; how will I manage a job or go to college? It is also very embarrassing. Will I have to live with this forever? It is really sad.

      @CuriousBuddy-ch9gl@CuriousBuddy-ch9glАй бұрын
    • @CuriousBuddy-ch9gl I'm so sorry to hear that. No you don't have to live with it forever if you learn to manage it! I'm a living proof of that. I was doing my A' levels when I was diagnosed with IBS. Stress is our enemy, like you I had frequent bowel movements till I had to sit for exams as 'special' candidate and even defer my semester twice. I promise you ibs symptoms get better with age if you start managing now. How you ask? I can only tell you what my Gastroentrologist suggested and the changes I made that has worked for me. Keep in mind my symptoms were severe like you and it was such a pain to live daily life. I started to exercise regularly (cardio+lifting weights), learned to manage my stress, learned alot of self-soothing exercises and changed my diet. Drinking soymilk & watermelon juice tremendously helped my gut. Over time I was off meds and my symptoms became lesser. Go discuss with your doc abt a doable game plan and start there, the rest is your effort. Hope this helps! Sending you lots of healing energy & love ❤️‍🩹

The gastro that met just dismissed me asking what is the prblm NOW? He didn't even bother to suggest referrals to neuro.. Which I eventually reasearcged and did during Covid to prevent emergency visits to hospital to avoid exposure.. Then made changes to diet.. Long meditation n pranayam eliminating gluten maida oil completely n within a week all the prbs were gone.. Had the GI drs i saw suggested that.. Years of my suffering wud have been saved..

  • Sir, I always have wanted to ask this question on sleep. We know that at least four REM & NREM cycles are needed for preservation of neurological functions. But what about the armed forces? They hardly get more than 4 hours of sleep over their service tenure that can span to anywhere between 10 to 20 years. Even with such "insufficient" sleep, how can their brains and their cognitive faculties function at a level that is in many cases superior than ours, who generally get more sleep than them, regularly?
