So the world (& Russians) can sit back & watch this play out or something will need to be done preemptively.

    • Russia is a textbook medieval society, which is run by a mafia clan and fully supported by the Russian Orthodox church. The Russian army is a typical medieval army, whose goal is to rape, torture, castrate, kill and loot unarmed civilians and prisoners of war. And Russian society is lacking critical thinking, built on the feeling of hate towards everything and everybody who is different from them. It is very naive and dangerous to think that only Putin and his regime are the problem. The problem is much deeper than that, and to change that for the better will require generations to change and a completely different environment. But meanwhile we just need to help Ukraine strengthen their military force as much as we can, because medieval society understands only one argument - the one of power.

Companies shouldn't be centralized to few single people, it should be a company sized team effort with differing difficulty tasks on each stages. What made Russia go wrong with democracy is that, democracy is never possible if you don't have healthy private companies to give the country's budget revenue in form of taxes to build foundation for people. Every company is centralized, marketing monopolized, small companies annihilated and almost impossible to work independendly.

The worry for Europe is that the conflict doesn't go into other borders. This will be a drawn out affair. Slowly Russia will hold referendums for regions to them and they will likely build military bases in those areas, the local people are either willingly joining Russia or the Ukrainians are leaving going west. A split land grab for Russia will be considered a win. It doesn't look like Ukraine will fall totally at any stage and zelensky will hold power. • Lots of people here have argued that using tactical nukes over the Ukraine would mean so much radioactive fallout spreading even over Russia that using them would be self-defeating. That is not always true. There are tactical nukes which are specially made to give much radiation, but little fallout and little blast. I do not know whether Russia has such weapons or not, but if they do, this is what would happen: First the tactical nukes are ignited over the area to be appropriated. The radiation quickly kills the people, but leaves houses and infrastructure relatively undamaged. After a day or so the radiation has gone down so much that one can send in military in hazmat suits to take and hold the area. After 2-3 weeks, one can send in civilians to move in to the houses and start living there. A lot of those will probably get cancer some thirty years later, but any dictator worth his salt is likely well prepared to pay that price. After all, it's his people. The above does of course not mean that we should betray our ukrainian brother people.
