Wolf Pack Hunts A Hare | The Hunt | BBC Earth

2017 ж. 27 Мау.
24 986 797 Рет қаралды

A diet of leverets will not be enough to sustain a growing pup or feed an entire wolf pack, so bigger prey is needed. The problem is bigger prey like the Hare are incredibly agile and can run up to speeds of 60 km per hour. If this wolf pack are not going to go hungry, they will need to hunt as a unit. • Yeah wtf??? That’s scary af lol. Wasn’t ready in the slightest ! No kidding , watching that mess right there literally had me out of my comfort zone for real 😂. Like I’m so far out of my comfort zone that I’d need a passport to get back to my comfort zone ! Rabbits freak me out. They just do. They’re very needy and demanding as pets and otherwise unless you’re going to watch it dig and chew and spaz out in mid air when they binky and go flailing in the air and don’t even take any concern over whether or not they’re going to go slamming into walls or whatever as they just spaz out without a care lol (first time I saw one binky I did a double take and was like tf was that ? Hahaha. But that’s their version of being in pure bliss so at least they’re happy haha 😂) I ended up seeing a large group of my wild cat’s circling something one night on my infra red cameras and went to check to see what it could be , wondering if it add another cat from a different territory or to find out which animal it could be as it was clearly being stalked and would’ve bn killed .. but when I approached it , it had that help me look on its scared face lol so I brought it in and while attempting to find an owner who’d had a missing pet or to investigate whether it was thrown out into the wild by anyone who simply became bored of it or disinterested , as it Being a white albino , the likelihood of it ever being wild was not likely at all , as rabbits like that are almost always just someone’s discarded pet and not wild. People assume they’ll return to a feral state but no. Rabbits don’t adjust or transition liken that. They won’t survive and simply putting the dang things outside just bc someone gives up wanting to deal with them doesn’t Create a solution in the Animals favor .. may help the person sleep st night thinking it will just eat whatevs and instinctively survive but that doesn’t happen and matter of fact , that’s actually just a death sentence with immense and immediate suffering when humans intervene and want a pet animal and for the wrong reasons without any knowledge or insight on how that animal will survive or having any knowledge of its needs in terms of care or its personality or typical behavior ... but people have been meddling into the wild for who knows how long ., thinking they’re helping or that animals will adjust to being forced into captivity when aside from dogs and a few possibly mild mannered animals that have become domesticated , residing alongside and dependent on humans as pets or in cats case , cats allow humans to be in the meow mix but haven’t changed hardly at all from their non domesticated relatives to where a cat can often survive and be formidable in the wild , reverting quickly back to the feral state that honestly isn’t very far or fully removed anyway .. but a dang rabbit ? They may call their offspring kittens but they are not cats lol. In fact it’s fd up slightly how all these rabbit owners wanna name or classify a rabbit as quite a few things .. kitten , bunny , rabbit, then of course, doe or buck , a bull and I believe there are 2-3 more names and herd animals that graze or not , I honestly don’t get the whole crap where people wanna call them the same thing as they’d refer to about deer .. with the whole “doe “and “buck “.., and the things aren’t labeled in the same classification or category as deer or other grazing herbivores .., kinds like how ya see underground dwelling things and things in the sea , As well as dogs , all these different animals having people call their young pups ... yet if it’s not people using the word pups for however many animals, they’re labeling something a cub ... rabbits were thought to be rodents , they def. remind me of them. Omg imo ? Rabbits are pretty ugly. I just honestly haven’t found any of them to be very cute .. not that the rescue I have had for 2 plus years doesn’t have a pretty calm demeanor , she’s pretty sweet and doesn’t cause much trouble at all ! I had no intent on keeping her lol and tried endlessly to find her a loving home with the nurturing and care needed but rather than her go to anyone who’d abandon her or not care for her properly , even though i honestly don’t care much for rabbits as a pet for me , haven’t grown a fraction of the bond i have with my cat and know i won’t , still ,I don’t want her to suffer and would never place any animal among people that can’t be attentive to their needs and provide the care and effort needed. Too many people get pets and aren’t at all prepared for or capable of the responsibility they’re taking on . Can’t stand to see animals abused or suffering or miserable regardless of what they are or how their traits or personalities or behaviors may be difficult for some to deal with etc. but dude , I just really don’t know prefer rabbits as pets. When I tried to find it a home, had more people offer to take it bc they wanted to eat it than anything else lol. Not something I’ve ever eaten haha. But to most , they’re either food or considered pests .. their mannerisms kinda annoy me but what am I going to do but give it the best life I can .. once I decided to intervene and rescue it , that became my responsibility so I can’t do anything else but make the best of it lol. It gets to run around and has all kinds of toys and different little treats of appropriate foods that are safe , at moderation that is carefully followed , it has s cat for a best friend and gets plenty of time being held , brushed , payed attention to etc. but dang it’s still annoying. Not going to lie haha. Doesn’t do much but spaz out jumping/ binkying In the air or sitting there .. or sitting there ... if it’s not dropping dueces like a machine gun .. what disgusts me is that they eat their shit and actually will store it in a certain place and tend to prefer to consume it in private .., ewe ?! Yet even though it is produced in the Cecum, after being fermented and is simply the nutritious twice digested crap ? If it comes out yo butt it’s Sh*t .. and sh*t is sh*t !! Just nasty lol 😂 It’s like they know it too. Why else eat it in private ? Totally don’t wanna know about that haha.

Therefore, youl still see MANY more hares unhunted.

  • In case you didn't notice, the first hare escaped and survived. So it makes a score of 1-1. It proves that predator and prey both have their chances. So you can stop with your "poor defenseless hare". It has actually a very strong defense mecanism.

    @cocotte9104@cocotte91046 жыл бұрын
    • Cocotte it's also because they are the prey that they have strong defense mechanisms, all prey do. look at deers, for example.

      @the.author.0813@the.author.08136 жыл бұрын
    • But my point was that the prey are far from defenseless against predators, so the "hunting game" is not as cruel and unbalanced as people think. Otherwise, predators wouldn't have a 20% success rate in average.

      @cocotte9104@cocotte91046 жыл бұрын
    • Cocotte I completely agree. prey are far from weak, however, predators in certain cases are stronger, it's also a balancing act caused by nature. Prey breed far more then predators (as evidenced by rabbits, they breed a lot, whereas compared to wolves, not so much) it also stems into growth pattern and availability of food for both parties.

      @the.author.0813@the.author.08136 жыл бұрын
    • Mell C and the prey that survives by escaping predators goes on to breed and create faster prey that the predators must catch. its a genetic arms race.
