Natural World: A Wolf Called Storm
Storm is an extraordinary wolf - the head of a pack in Canada's frozen north that hunts the giant buffalo herds. This pack came to fame in Frozen Planet, and now cameraman Jeff Turner spends a year with Storm and his wolf family, learning how they survive in this harsh wilderness and whether Storm can pass his hunting skills on to the new generation of wolf cubs.

    • It is safer for the bison to stay there and face off, in the event that the wolf is not injured. The wolf has learned the hard way that he cannot attack from the front, and the bison knows that. If the bison were to turn around and try to run, the wolf may give chase again. Thus the bison must stand and wait for the wolf to leave.

All the buffaloes need to do to completely destroy them is just conserve their energy and stomp them to death when the wolves get near...but they play right into the wolve's game and tire themselves out. Then when one of their fellow buffaloes are getting attacked they just run away out of fear instead of helping...lol.

    • Maybe, but if the buffalo stand their ground, they'll need a tight formation to prevent a wolf from injuring a calf or yearling from behind. The wolves can dance around and stay warm, while the buff would have to stand still in the freezing cold; after a day or so of this, the wolves would win.

    • That’s why now it bugs me when predators are instantly portrayed as the bad guys. Tbf, I don’t want the buffalo or the wolf to die, but they’re both just trying to survive. It’s not like when humans hunt for sport. Wolves, lions, spiders and other predators need to feed themselves and their family as well. And nature makes sure the sacrifice of a carcass won’t go to waste with scavengers and nutrients going to the earth. :) Like hearing about how important the death of salmon during their migration is to spread nitrogen to plants in the forest. (Nitrogen cycle, I think) Or to see just how many carnivores/scavangers can get a meal out of one elephant dying in the savanna. Nature cycles are fascinating, even if brutal.

    • Humans instinctively side with predators especially pack predators (wolves/orcas/dolphins)... it's evolutionary. Also, they serve a key function in HELPING their prey by killing off the weak DNA, they help purify the gene pool of the buffalo by ensuring only the strongest survive. Only for a brief period in post-modern America/Europe has being prey/victim been promoted as a virtue. Egalitarianism is actually a product of Puritanical Christianity (which is why it is so strong in the former Puritanical strongholds of the Northeast despite them abandoning Puritanism itself they have retained cultural Puritanism without it's doctrinal justifications), the only justification for egalitarianism was that we are all created "in the image of God" and thus equal. Outside of that doctrine, there is ZERO proof of equality for anyone: everyone is totally UNEQUAL, we all have different height, strength, beauty, intelligence, resources, etc. Our races have many differences (physically, different medical conditions, different diet recommendations, etc.) as do our genders. We have some weird anti-science cult masquerading as "scientific" that denies evolution and survival of the fittest and pretends equality has any basis in reality which it doesn't as it's a purely spiritual construct.

  • Well... As a human, we always have the tendency to stand for the weaker side. In this case, it feels like the buffaloes. But the wolves on the other hand, they are carnivorous, predators. They have to do this or they are left with no food to last through. So... It's okay if the wolves are winning and it's okay too if the buffaloes are winning. It's the rule of nature. The more fit animal gets to stay, and the weaker gets eliminated.

    • Except humans have come up with things like Affirmative Action to give certain groups a chance. Think that's racist? Consider that AA is the ONLY mandated law that *excludes* certain races who have worked their entire lives to *not* be accepted into a University, even though they scored higher on all of the necessary curriculum.

Can we stop whining about AA in the education system and find other ways to action on getting minorities out of crime-riddened ghettos already. Like this is such a useless thing to still be saying. Especially under an animal doc video ffs.
