"Recently there's been some successes in Kherson where the mortars have been pushed back... with a few gains it's become significantly safer."
Ben Mitchell discusses his role as a combat medic and running kit and weapons to the front as Ukraine pushes back Putin's troops in Kherson.

My only wish is that the Times Radio youtube channel would put Frontline in the title, or include Kate's photo in the thumbnail, or some sort of identifier, so it would be easier to find the video interviews she does. She really should be spotlighted more!

  • This was an especially impressive interview. Mr. Mitchell's compassionate, selfless demeanor belies his amazing contribution to Ukraine's war effort. Despite viewing a LOT of KZhead videos specific to the war in Ukraine since the its start, Brandon's channel has never been suggested. Now I know. Thanks for that!

    @gregparrott@gregparrott7 ай бұрын

    • @gregparrot I also saw Brandon on the channel of Artur Rehi. He's another great guy who does very much the same thing, and sometimes works together with Brandon. He's a former military guy from Estonia, the smallest of the countries right next to and most threatened by Russia. He also collects donations, buys stuff and takes it to Ukraine for the army. He has bought and taken at least 3 vehicles, night vision goggles, and a lot of other stuff. In the short time I've been watching him, about 6 months, he's been there twice. Brandon was on his channel recently showing goggles they had both donated, night vision and thermal vision. They are hugely expensive at about $600 US I think, and if I'm correct they donated about 600 pairs. If I'm wrong, somebody please correct me. At any rate, Artur has a great sense of humor too. Jake Broe is another great military blogger regarding Ukraine who has a sense of humor, and he does stuff with Artur and Brandon too. I really enjoy all 3, but especially Artur. Or as much as a person can enjoy videos about an unjust war and genocide committed by a homicidal maniac nutcase. My apologies if you already knew these things. Just trying to be helpful. I realize there's a limit to how many channels a person can follow. All the best to you! SLAVA UKRAINI ! ! ! 🇺🇦 🇺🇦 🇺🇦

      @cattymajiv@cattymajiv7 ай бұрын
    • @@finn4800 Nobody can watch them all. Even if a person had unlimited time, it couldn't be done, and even if it could, nobody could take thinking constantly about this unjust war and genocide committed by a homicidal maniac nutcase. We'd get PTSD from it. KZhead rots the brain anyway. Even if you only watch educational stuff, there's a limit to how much screen time is healthy, and that's about 2 hours a day at the ABSOLUTE MAXIMUM. We are all already way over that. But seriously, any more than about 10 hours a week is seriously harmful. That's why the US is already a freaking disaster. 3 or 4 generations of people have grown up watching tv heavily, and we have a whole nation of freaking zombies who are unable to think, and too lazy to bother if they could, NEVERMIND the fact that the mere suggestion that they might actually walk 2 blocks to the store to get their junk food for tonight's 6 hours of Netflix would give them a heart attack! Just like tv, KZhead rots the brain. In some ways it's even FAR worse than tv. Sorry, but it needed to be said. So I know that a massive number of Ukrainians never get a break from the awful 24/7 fear and loss, but they wouldn't want us to suffer like they are, or even a fraction of it. All they want from us is our help. No offense is meant to you, but our time is much better spent doing anything else in the world than on KZhead. Like firstly, emailing our elected representatives in our federal governments. Most federal govts have a central phone number for information that will also connect us to any department. That 1 main number should be able to tell us the email addresses of our President or Prime Minister's office and all the Cabinet Ministers, and Elected Representatives. We should write 1 short letter that we can copy and paste, and send it to all of them. It only really needs to be 1 sentence, like "I want to help Ukraine 100%." That's all it needs. Then we send one to our Representative, 1 to the President or PM, and 1 to EACH Cabinet Minister. Done. It will make a huge difference. If a person has trouble typing or a disability, then we can just send it to the Minister Of Finance, our Elected Rep, and our PM or President. It would be FAR better of course to include a sentence or 2 that makes sure they know we want them to send as much help as possible, money, weapons, training, personnel in any way needed, ATAKMs, HIMARs, Stormshadows, or whatever. AND ESPECIALLY F16 PLANES. So if we can, we should say that too, but the most important thing is that 1 sentence. I want to help Ukraine 100%. SLAVA UKRAINI ! ! ! 🇺🇦 🇺🇦 🇺🇦

By contrast the chemical ones are reliable, thin and deliver 8 hours of heat for $1 per pair or less in bulk. Taking a soldier off the front line because of a lack of $1 per day heat to the feet is a bad plan but that is what we did last winter leaving people crippled for life because of the very predictable weather. Also good quality low temperature sleeping bags were a really big hit. My brother in law had an issued bag that had gotten moldy in the past and was quite surprised and very happy to receive a copy of the US military arctic bag last year. He didn't ask, I just thought about what a soldier would appreciate in the field, and it was delivered just in time for the cold weather. • Thanks for having Brandon on again! Great interview. Legitimate grassroots fundraising by individuals like Brandon is absolutely critical and very important... One person with enough exposure and support can help provide essential combat multipliers to dozens/hundreds/thousands of individual frontline soldiers. Some of the largest organizations with the largest budgets quite often seem to do the least of all! Especially when it comes down to providing specific supplies to specific units, instead of sending 1,000 pairs of gloves to a unit that doesn't even need gloves, but that same money could've bought more drones, nightvision or thermal capabilities or even just basic supplies that are ACTUALLY in dire demand... I recommend donating to Brandon and other small organizations or individuals doing similar work, as you see where you money goes, plus the same donation will go much much farther than the mega corporations of fundraising! (Looking at you Red Cross... Along with several other very large so called established humanitarian aid groups 🤨) 🇺🇦👍

  • Brandon, are those all NAR CAT tourniquets? I have already seen video of one guy snapping one. They did not say. but I suspect the device used was a knock off. If it's not a NAR, CAT it's suspect. Rock on young man.

    • Brandon is very much aware of the issue with fake tourniquets, as are his colleagues. Apart from CAT tourniquets, a few other reliable brands are in use, among which Dnipro and SICH, two Ukrainian brands. Sadly, yes, a lot of fakes are sent to Ukraine, which are essentially nothing more than children's toys. Those will not be issued to soldiers if they pass Brandon's hands.

    • @@Joe-og6br It would also have been disadvantageous for us to do nothing. The indirect costs did not affect us nearly as much as we thought they would, and even if they had, it wouldn't have been that bad.

    • @@Joe-og6br I live in a western country and know all about the indirect costs. They are cheaper for us in the long run and worth it to stop Putins madness. Doing nothing is not an option for Ukrainians while they lose their lives and country. So be grateful that you do not face what they are facing. Attitudes like yours do not help. You are clearly a fair-weather friend.
