Agreed, the rebuilding of the European military industrial complex comes late, but not too late. But the USA is now a big guarantor for European freedom and Europe must become equally as strong. France and Germany have to scale up the rebuilding of the defense industry.
Think of it like this... When the bridge goes down, that's fewer places they need to actively put eyes on. and fewer placed that Putin can send supplies. Sure, they've got the tracks figured out. but again, trains are predictable. the hard part is figuring out on what tracks it going to come in on. No bridge, only one direction it can come from. It'll be a weight off Ukraine's intelligence's shoulders, delayed as it is.
There are only 2 russian land rail routes open ..... the bridge is a 3rd. 1 of these rail lines is new. Ukraine will take the bridge soon.

We are doing something. War crimes get forensically investigated, everything is researched and documented and then cases are developed. These will (and have) led to prosecutions and convictions... and if the guilty are shielded by the Kremlin, further sanction can be applied to those involved, assets can be seized, warrants can mean they can't travel... so it might bit be the swift and savage justice I think some Russians deserve, but it isn't true that nothing is done.

well, even IF they manage to damage the bridge heavily and render it unuseable, it is too late... by now they have mostly built supplylines through occupied territory.... knocking the bridge out would have been useful in autumn..... by now it is more a prestige target than anything else.
Truth. Ukraine will do so when they know it will be successfull. It has to be big enough and to make it through Russia's "missile defences". Timing is also essential as to circumstances on the ground/front line.

It is as the bridge is in the south, the rail track comes in via the north.

There has always been a railroad to Crimea along the Azov Sea coastline. The Kerch bridge double track is , however , by far the shortest route and furthest from the front lines.

Britain and Baltic states standing up but Russia needs to learn a harsh lesson. Much of Europe just hanging around on the edge.
Per capita UK is 11th on their aid for Ukraine. Behind the Baltics, the Scandinavian countries, Poland, Germany, Netherlands and Slovakia… If larger economies like UK, France and US would have given as much aid per capita as the current top 10 donors, this was would have been over…

@@icu17siberia There is no such thing as a non NATO action. NATO membership is a permanent status. It is not something you can turn on or off as you please. If say UK started shooting down Russian planes as part of enforcing a No Fly zone, that would drag the rest of NATO with it. The only way that would not be NATO action is if UK withdrew from NATO first and then started a No Fly zone.

For Ukrainian F16 pilots and F16 maintenance systems to have a fighting chance they need a year of training and logistical preparation. If serious training started as late as October, then we are looking at their becoming operational in the fall. Hopefully the training started earlier. The SEAD mission requires even more training, and they need to be able to do that to turn this around.
Doesn't previous experience flying and maintaining fighters accelerate training times?
@@woodstream6137 I was an aircraft systems maintainer in the USAF. At that time one went through three levels of training (3,5, and 7) on each system to be among those who can keep aircraft at a high level of operational readiness. Someone with other experience might be able to jump ahead into the highest level of training (7), but there is also something to long experience with a system for the unusual problems that often arise. Nothing like institutional memory, the troop that saw that problem 5 years ago. What can help Ukraine is having access to those troops with supplemental imagery and translation software. The Ukrainian air force really cannot afford a lot of learning curve once the F16s are in country. I am not a pilot, but I have reviewed Air Force Manual 11-2F16 and related documents, and what one might call the basic qualifying course for American F-16 pilots is normally one year. And the course and technical manuals for the F16 are in English. This year does not include the more specialized training that goes into SEAD missions nor, to my knowledge does it include Red Flag combat exercises. Red Flag was established to improve the survival rate of pilots without combat experience. Ukrainian pilots have combat experience, but not with F16 systems. I think for them to have a fighting chance they need to go through a Red Flag customized to the Ukrainian-Russian battlespace. So to me it looks like two years of training is being crammed into one. Thus the one-year prediction.

The first Ukrainian pilots are already ready for combat.or at worst, only a few weeks from completing all training.

Railway lines are very vulnerable to both artillery attack and sabotage, especially if you go for the bridges. Even I know that!
@@suemowat222plus it means everything bound for the crimean peninsula has to go a longer route to get there, create greater stress on logistics having to send more supplies through the land bridge and/or force them to risk what landing ships the black sea fleet has left.
@trickydicky90 addition of rail doesn't mean they stop using the bridge, dingaling. Less logistical connectivity is better than more, and the point of getting rid of the bridge.

Thank God there are important people who really think for our security our freedom and our destiny! We must all wake up recognize the thread of our culture listen very carefully and support with all our strength people who are ready to fight for our existence.
You can complain that America is to slow. America is slow always has been because it is a republic and everyone has to agree it takes months to years to change a policy or law. Our military is different and can respond quickly but only if it is domestic defence foreign policy is delt with in the government. Now thier are more than the u.s. in nato so why did aide take so long from other nato countries? Because nato has been doing the minimum to maintain it military the u.s.a has warned nato many times to increase spending on defense and they blew it off because America will come running to thier aide. As we did in 2 world wars. But those days are gone America is war weary and has been at war for well over a 100yrs with only a few years between conflicts the youth of America has learned not to enlist because war is guaranteed and you will die. It up each individual nation to be able to defend itself and provide aide to others if this had been done Ukraine would have never run low on supplies. So before you rag on Americans look in the mirror and tell yourself who is responsible for ensuring peace in Europe and ask could you do it without America. The answer is nope and this is what we are seeing now. America is always do our best to help our allies. But our allies are not doing the same and have grown lazy and this is the result ammo shortages and equipment shortages.
Yet, for as slow as it is...American weapons get to Ukraine faster and in greater quantities than anyone else. It's really about European "want to".
American youth are not enlisting because the job market is pretty damn good.Plenty of entry level civilain service jobs are left open because young people have plenty of other options and don't want to fill them.

It's sometimes referred to as bleeding your enemy white. The US practiced it in the early years of WW2 to gain time for their factories to grow to full production by dripfeeding the British what they needed to keep their head above the water. Had Germany and Japan not decided to go to war with the US who knows how long that might have gone on for. The US played it perfectly - having a potential enemy in Germany held at bay long enough to be able to bankrupt their real enemy (the British Empire) and then allying themselves with that enemy to defeat what had then attacked them. Don't like what the US administration did (as a Brit) but cannot help but admire the way they played their chess. I'm sure we'd have done the same to them had the opportunity arisen. Sometimes it doesn't work as well as planned. The German high command in WW1 thought they could do that to the French Empire at Verdun and that ended up badly for both sides.

not really. If you can hit that bridge, the rail line is easy because it's closer, and runs thru Ukraine territory. Lets watch and see
The Kerch Bridge will be a huge prestige boost to Ukraine and its backers when that goes down. Any rail tracks built by the Russians are now easy pray to the ATACMS.
Much easier to hit actual trains on the rail north of the Asov sea. And when you destroy a locomotive, it chokes the supply line for several weeks. So if they destroy one of the two Supply lines, that is significant. Plus Premiere is at the end of a very long Rail and holding it will become untenable if the bridge is destroyed.

Is anyone at Times Mirror reading the comments? As others have pointed out as well, your audio is out of balance. Please do something about that. This will send a strong signal of the support by NATO or by individual countries by their sending troops into Ukrainians to the young men of fighting age and who in the next year will be of fighting age, and it will allay some of the fear and skepticism of men of military age who must return to Ukraine, now and in the future. They are wondering whether they are going to have the weapons they need to fight, after the fiasco of the six-month delay. More support by the United State Congress that can be announced, now, today, would help further allay fear and skepticism of everyone in Ukraine but also of the young men of military age, if the United States were now, to pass another bill of another 10 to 15 Billion in aid to Ukraine. The sitting on hands by too many republicans can then make it up for their failure in bringing the Ukraine Aid Bill to the floor for the vote on the military aid. Doing so, right now, would not only show they admit to their mistake and now want to redeem themselves, but it would send a strong message to putin and russia.
All the US has to do is keep sending out their old stockpiles of munitions because this is all they have been doing they don't need to come up with billions of dollars for this as they are in reality just restocking their own arsenal with new weapons which they have to do irregardless of the Russian invasion of Ukraine and they know it but are just using numbers for political reasons
I think that unless the US voters see a real European commitment to act, they will assume there is no "existential threat". So if you're in the EU, better focus your efforts better.

Doesn't it need a decent payload to cause real structural damage or a KO blow to the bridge? I can't remember is that other bridge near the hydroplant was hit by himars our atacms but it was just punching holes in the road.
What's with the obsession with this bridge the Russians have other routes that we all know about it.
And all those routes are within himars range. Kerch bridge ISN'T. If the Kerch bridge goes down Crimea becomes extremely vulnerable
The other routes are all within closer striking distance of Ukrainian platforms and special forces raids.Taking out the bridge which has been harder for Ukraine to threaten with any regularity is just a first step to threating Russian logistics when they have to reroute supply runs CLOSER to Ukrainian defenses.
