if you give him a gentle tap/press behind his right knee with your knee you'll get him down easier in that situation, break his structure that his weight is on, especially if you pull him towards you a little bit he'll be forced to push down to the ground with that leg and when you break that leg structure he'll go down without you having to push much (if at all) with your shoulder thanks though man, very good video

This is a great way to set up the Dagestani double or the Dagestani single, or sometimes go right into a dagestani trip to attack Dagestani submissions.

I do this to my 8 yr old son. Works almost every time. Finish w a razors edge or armbar central. 💪🏻
😂😂
Same, also switching my arm upwards from his hip to his neck works with a rear naked choke as well, works every time
Razors edge? It's your son! Tombstone Pile-driver dude!! LOL
@@RoRockerBMy God, stop the match! He's dead!
no chairs? or powerbombs? maybe you should rewatch the video. cuz youre doing it all wrong
I once took a Dagestani Step after a another. They were similar to any normal steps, but after the name change I felt much more proud of my walking.
I just took a dagestani piss and hurt my dagestani wrist
Remember to grow a huge ass beard and only shave the mustache for Maximum effincency
I’m glad someone said something, this was just an arm drag my whole life 😂
I just started dagestani talking and now people respect me even more
@@rachitsachdeva7836 brother...
One thing to note here: it's very important to make this drag one smooth motion, do not get caught struggling right after the arm drag, and if your opponent fights it off successfully, turn away slightly and the quickly rotate back and drag him HARD a second time to force the position - if you don't, you risk getting your leg grabbed and getting dumped. What I mean is this: after the grip and pull on the same-side arm, you see that the instructor steps in and his left leg ends up tight against the opponent's right leg. However, you also notice that the dragged arm is VERY close to the instructor's knee - if you do not IMMEDIATELY move around towards the back and drag him down to finish the takedown, there is a real possibility of the opponent getting a grip on the knee from the inside, even connecting his other hand as well, if he throws his right leg back and steps forward with the left he can do it even easier while turning into you and defending the takedown - if he can do this and then posture up while yanking on that leg, he can flip you over on your back, rotating his torso to face you on the way down - he can also use his right leg to trip the instructor's far leg while pulling up on the close (left) one, making the dump to the back even easier (or, posture up hard and step in to trip with the left leg while turning towards the instructor the whole time, same result). worst case, you end up on your back with the opponent in side control.
Thanks Coach!
Legit best comment, thank you very much helped me solve a problem I didn’t know I had
What are you, a tough guy?
@@sidhu139 huh?
I mean... sure the dagastani mma guys use this but so do most grappler everywhere, it's just an arm drag. But I guess putting dagastani in the title helps with the algorithm
hater can't accept someone's better than you some where else.
It is an arm drag but it seems to be a variation, like a double leg. You can shoot a blast or you can do the toss, that type of thing...
It’s not just an arm drag though..unless this is how you do yours then I guess it is to you.. but I’ve been doing arm drags a certain way and there was a key detail, specifically aligning the shoulder to the back of your opponents.. I like that detail , it worked a treat!
The final touch for any dagastani technique is growing a chin beard
@@user-kk2dw1eh5q I may try that too.. 😂
Detail with getting the shoulder behind theirs as the focus/secure spot to me was very interesting and helpful. I will start to implement that change in my arm drag attempts.
Stellar video and technique, man! Thank you making this video. 👊😃
been using this move all week at practice, thanks for the help!!
ive been using this move ever since and it gives me a lot of openings to another takedowns, thank you !!
It works on lower level wrestlers but good wrestler is not gonna give his back like that. In mma it most likely works very well
@@jjjyli686 depends, it can cause openings in other areas while trying to pull the back away
Yea right like you know what he’s talking about
if you can execute it as precisely as the muslim fighters have then it can absolutely buy you a takedown in the ring
By far my favorite drag is the Duck Under. We had a painting of the move by our mats. Seeing it all the time, I have used it and it worked so well! Especially when followed up with a pin.
I used this exact same drag in highschool and until I was scouted on film by other teams it worked like a charm out of it I could go 3 ways, attack the hips, heel hook and trip or capture the near single leg, if your opponent comes to expect it from you, it is easily countered. Not knocking it and it is a good alternate to direct convential leg attacks.
What’s the counter?
@@estogaza5827 hand fight and be aware, like I said until it was expected I did it with little resistance, it is not commonly used therefore opponent do not expect it, basically refuse access to your wrist and elbows, I would hook their elbow and drag them forward while side stepping to that hands hip, right hand right hip you can even post the same side foot by placing your foot inside and pivot to that side turning it into a drag trip, there is a lot you can do off off this drag
@@estogaza5827 circle away…very simple. There’s a reason u don’t see many drags in high level wrestling.
Awesome video. I did my first bjj comp this weekend. I took away so many points I need to work on, wish I found your channel earlier. I'm not young, so shooting isn't my first option. I prefer to work arm drags. This is awesome I will work on this one. Thankyou
Brilliant demonstration... thankyou mate. A good reminder seeing such physicality.. we arent in this game to make friends
DAMN that is a really effective yet practical move. Thank you for sharing this!!
Straight to the point. Love it.
Thanks for this! We have solid defense for single leg takedowns but was curious about other methods we can be taken down. Thank you for the details
I’ve been using that for years, lol I love how it’s called a dagestani double, we used to call it an arm drag or Russian tie
That's not a Russian tie (which requires 2 arms on 1 arm.)
@@Spiritof_76yeah the Russian tie and arm drag are literally opposites in terms of grips. One uses the same side arm to grab the wrist (arm drag) and opposite arm to pull, while the other uses a cross grip on the wrist (Russian tie) with the same side arm doing the pull.
@@retardno002your name lmao
I like throwing knees and always had a fear of shooting for the legs because i know how my mind works for someone shooting for the legs. When i started doing this to incorporate grappling and takedowns my wrestling improved greatly. Strikers take note, this is a game changer.
For whenever you wanna shoot, just take a quick step to the left or the right of them before, it will solve that.
Thank you so much. Your channel is going to have a positive impact on a lot of grapplers.
Appreciate that brother

LOVED that fringe flick !
Thank you for sharing this video i have heard of this takedown before but didn't know how to do it this could work wonders against larger opponents not expecting it. Shooting against larger people in a street fight can be very dangerous and tricky but this looks like it could be very effective with enough practice
Great move, well explained! I find it both interesting and frustrating that this and similar technique work in very real fights but would be rare to find branded as “self defense” unlike crane + snake form fusion style bullshido.
Very nice, thanks! it's like an arm drag russian tie haha, lovely.
Love these tips, thank you.
I just thought of three variants if this in seconds thank you man, starting bjj again in january so will be perfect for me.
Nice, didn´t know this way. Thanks for sharing.
BJJ white belt here, thanks for this! Try to get some time in for takedowns, this is very helpful and well explained.
Brilliant.Thank you!
Yoooooooo 😮 You do a snap to turn the corner, I've never seen that taught before! I always just saw step and grab, this is gold
yea, his exaggerated body position on the corner turn was an eye-opener for me, too. i've been arm dragging people from standing and butterfly guard for forever but i never thought to turn my shoulder in like that to solidify the angle.
Same here gents.. this has been a game changer for me.
Beautiful! Thank you.
I always left too much space and they got the underhook on me. Good detail with the shoulder position. Good video.
Glad it helped 🤘🏻 welcome to the channel brother
You explained that very well.
Super good and easy to follow breakdown. Thanks.
Glad it was helpful!
Love that detail with the shoulder behind their shoulder
As a judo/japanese jujitsu practitioner, I now know the direction to go to learn wrestling. Drags.

This is interesting. One could fake a go behind but use this move. Thanks for sharing!
Awesome, thank you sir
thank you Mr. Cavaliere , good job for your cut also
I was having a bad day but your comment made me laugh. Thanks for that
Shooting is killing your gains! Here’s why
NEVER do takedowns like this again! Do them like this instead.
Efficient and effective, low risk and high reward 🥋👍
Literally showed one of the most important parts of this technique in real time instead of slowly. 😂
Is it that hard to slow down the video
Settings-playback speed-0,25 doesn't work for you? Besides, it's just an ordinary arm drag. There are countless of other KZhead videos explaining the same material, if you need it.
You can literally go to settings and slow the video down if you need to.
Thank you, I'll try this.
Thats some great detail, thanks for that, as a purple belt my self, I will def utilize this more! Hello from Los Angeles!
This was filmed at my old school in LA! If you're near North Hollywood checkout NoHo MMA with my professor Steve Baca he's the man!
Love when wrestler help out our bjj game with good wrestling techniques and we help them out with our bjj which in turn improves their wrestling techniques. Gordon Ryan uses this armpit grab and drag all the time and gets super high level black belts like candy.
Simple yet highly effective
Bro thank you so much! I am a leg shooter but now my teammates has gotten my game recognize now. I’ll try this to catch them off guard, if I can’t get this and they try to back off or shoot off I can use the opportunity to shoot the double or single. I’mma shadow wrestle and rep this out rn. Ty 👍🏼
That's great to hear Musashi. If you get stuck at any point, I elaborate on the drag series in this video below. I show you 3 separate ways to hit it so if at any point your partner picks up on the first you can move on to additional options: kzhead.info/sun/nNmHYtyXrKOgdmw/bejne.html
I love his feet techniques❤❤❤
Wow thank you for the video. I'm gonna try it with my brother.
Good explanation thx
Thanks! I'll use this
Dude appreciate the clarity of detailing the technique. Automatic like

Thank you.
Thank you so much 🙏
Always welcome
That's another pretty good one I like that wrestling take downs are good for bjj and it gets you where you wanna be. Bjj does all them too but that a good arm drag one I like that better than any judo sweep
This is brilliant. I always get caught in front headlock because my shots suck. My shots suck bad because i have knee issues. This helps out big time.
Love to hear the instruction is resonating. If interested, I'm releasing a comprehensive 'takedowns for jiu jitsu' instructional later this month. Just drop your email below to be notified of the release: wrestleu.mykajabi.com/
Same here. bad left knee. Though I don't really wrestle, because I love just sitting on the couch, eating takeout and sitting on the laptop, all on my parents' dime. But I have a very active imagination, and in my imagination I've fought against some very famous names in combat sports, The fights were pretty close too, and I've built a respectable record. Every time I shot for a takedown (in my imagination) my knees hurt real bad. But last time I tried this technique and managed to take down Don Frye, and was just about to submit him with a rear naked choke when my mom called me for lunch, so I stopped daydreaming, left the basement and went upstairs.
Nice takedown! And the hair is salon quality for both!
I always say grappling is 90% hair style and 10% technique 😁
Basic arm drag in wrestling. You want to move your opponent and step around. The point of any setup in grappling is to get a reaction and / or move them.
You could completely take his back with that right arm trapped, then just sweep the outside of his left foot and take mount. And way quicker to just say "arm drag", it's been around alot longer than the popularity of Dagestani fighters.
Great explanation.
My wrestling coach in high school taught us this, but while using the crown of your head to apply pressure to the temple of your opponent.
I used to do something very similar to this in wrestling all the time.
Awesome stuff man
Thank you Eamon
ey man.. can you do a vid on what the most important submissions are ?
The arm drag into what we called the "Russian." From there I went into the standing armbar to the ground all in 1 motion, or many other takedowns.
shoulder to shoulder thats what my coach forgot to mention i suscribe , happy new year and peace
Appreciate it brother happy belated New Year to you!
Ty. I did this yesterday in sparring. Can you also do side armpit seatbelt forwards drag?
I'm terrible at shooting so I constructed my whold wrestling around arm drags, it's a good alternative. It's great if you didn't wrestle in high school.
Look into Greco techniques.
What if he steps forwar with that right food when you tighten up and get heavy? Or is is possible for him to step across and unbalance the drag opening up a favorable position? You’ve done a great breakdown of the drag. 🏆✌️
Thank you for the share but this is a normal Greco Roman wrestling move so it's not a Dagestani drag or a secret , I've been doing this move for more than 9 years Our style back home is the Bulgarian style of wrestling
You've been doing Dagestani drag for more than 9 years
Wonderful demonstration, another important tip is to try and get your near foot in between his two feet
I really like that variation, good tip.
great advice!
Thanks for watching!
I'm blown away Wrestling isn't considered not only a martial art but it should have dojo's and a belting program 🥋
Real savage sport that doesn’t even have time for that stuff , only for pain🕶
Lol belts… yikes.. Wrestling is sport. Karate and others you can train and not compete which is the norm for most people. Nobody wrestles without competing

I got bad knees. Drags and snaps became my go to
thanks man, i hesistate shooting for the legs especially on guys 50 lbs more than me.
This is great for a older overweight guy like myself. Hate shooting. Thanks for the vid.
Greco techniques are great for less explosive practitioners or those of us with bad knees.
this move was hit in 2013 California state championship between Christian pagdilao and Anthony Valencia
Love this use it everyday in training and law enforcement ❤❤❤❤
Great breakdown. What all takedowns do you do from this position?
Perfect set up for a Fujiwara armbar or cross face.
I am terrible at shooting right now. This seems like a good way to get takedowns while I work on shooting.
