for an honest trailers video I did not expect it to make an actual astute observation about his character and it makes me love the movie even more LOL

I really appreciated the observation that OJ treated other people like they were horses- clicking and beckoning and pointing and such. Very astute and I definitely hadn't noticed that.

I also really liked that. I hadn't noticed it, before but it makes so much sense, and it's really cool. Makes me want to rewatch the movie to try to notice it, but I don't know if I'm ready to be scared that much again haha.
God, I know that feeling. One time I said, buddy, to my friend. In the exact same tone of voice I use when my horse is being slightly annoying, and just though, person, not a horse
it is 100% a real thing and i love the detail so much
The barn scene with the kids wearing the masks was absolutely the scariest / hair-raising part of this whole movie.

There's an old saying in showbusiness; "Never work with children or animals". Nobody ever explained that to the cast and crew of the ill-fated sitcom at the beginning of the movie.

Not only was this one hilarious, but brilliantly calls out some super subtle elements I hadn't noticed before. Also - Alien VS Redditor. Five stars, Angel. Five stars.

Alien vs Redditor is a film that needs to be made at some point. One possibility would be a Sleepless in Seattle style story about an alien planning to invade, then getting distracted by an internet argument.
I actually liked this movie because for once horror movie characters felt like real people. Looking at something bad and being like "nope. I'm out." 🤣
And then risking their life to get an "Oprah shot" just for fame and money.

@@JossinJax your "nope I'm out" would be dumb in that situation. "Nope" was a sort of coping mechanism that helped them stay alive and that's all that matters in horror movies. Smart choices

When I watched this movie I was literally like the character of OJ when the kids showed up in the alien costumes. Any scenes with creepy aliens slowly coming into view or just being creepy in dark areas is a huge 'Nope' for me. Lol
I love how he reacts in the opposite way of horror characters. Instead of going in to investigate... Just "nope, I'm out of here!" Same when he decides to stay in the van for the night and locks the door after one of the encounters with the UFO.

This movie is really unique in how many genres it manages to juggle at the same time; Sci-fi, horror, comedy, action adventure in Spielberg tone, western, a little family drama, and all the social commentary hidden beneath the surface.

They just dropped the Everything Everywhere All at Once video. Really great.
The thing with the shoe: I read it’s a hint that the recollection of the traumatic event is a bit off, and in that points towards the megalomaniac attempt of Yeuns character to tame the alien since he was the spared on from the ape.
Sounds about right to me. That’s what I got from everything that occurred.
No it was a "bad miracle", he was saved because he was looking at the shoe and not the chimp so the chimp wasn't threatened by him. So with the alien he thought he was special and thought the alien would play by his rules, which is a sharp contrast to Kaluyaa's character who played by the alien's rules and defeated it that way.
@@CharlieGoldDirector The chimp wasn't threatened because the kid's eyes were behind that lace veil/tablecloth thing, but I agree that it's still a "bad miracle".
his character doesnt have a megalomaniac persona. There's no secret to what he does, he stays quiet to himself, otherwise he's also a family man and friend to his past co-star.

i honestly think that i am psychologically scarred from the scene where it showed the people being stuck in Jean-Jacket's stomach. I think it might have to do with knowing that there were children who got sucked up too
Being not just alive, but awake and aware that you are being eaten is an existential fear for most. Like being very slowly lowered feet first into a vat of acid. It's a primal and visceral fear and horror.
Yes! That scene was terrifying! And it went on for so long! What made it worse for me was the screaming for help, knowing that there was nothing anyone could do for them.
the things that got me were the kids in the middle of the shot getting sucked up, the girl screaming for her mother while it happened, the woman coming upon the half digested horse, and the fact that the last words spoken from ANYONE from the star lasso experience were "PLEASE, HELP US!" (you can hear it if you listen close, along with a woman screaming that she's burning)
Watch Under The Skin for a terrifying alien digestion of humans scene.

Man, Michael Wincott has such a cool voice and got cooler looking with age. Whoever was in charge of his costume, possibly himself, deserves a raise…

I'd never thought Honest Trailers delivers more in depth analysis than 22 minutes of spoilers.
It is a side effect of the fact that "Honest Trailers"' writers are all competent in media literacy.

This movie was easy to digest more than "Us". And it was good. 💛 That monkey scene was haunting because of the silence and POV shots. Its like a nightmare. You just sit still and do nothing.
The Gordy attack, & the claustrophobic digestion-bordering-on-Borderlands scenes, were def. the scariest for me.
and the fact they are based on a real life incident make it more horrifying

I watched it with my dad in theaters. I had to check if he was still alive cuz i legitimately thought he had a heart attack
5:42- This was the one part of the film that genuinely made me tense up like "Oh, sh*t!", watching this thing we'd previously only seen from a distance or in the cloud suddenly fly close up into full view with that mouth. The best thing I can compare it to in real life would be when my dad and I saw fireworks at Northern Myrtle Beach over at least ten years ago, when I was a kid. For context, we stayed on the 21st floor of a hotel (I forget which). It was so high up that you could look across and literally see people working on the top of a crane at the next building over. The fireworks shot up to about our height before exploding, and the smoke expanded up close. It looked like a giant smoke spider coming right at the balcony before dissipating. It was surreal. Looking back, it was pretty incredible to have seen that. My dad stood outside on the balcony watching, but I went to my room after the first few explosions. I can't quite explain why, I knew it was only smoke. Something about seeing those fireworks turn into the Mind Flayer and then move toward us in the night sky like a 3D movie effect just unsettled me.

So you didn't watched the movie? It's an electric bike because they need the tension in the finale. The monster can disable electrical equipments and machines. It wasn't just for the Akira slide.

I actually just watched Nope for the first time last night lol. The joke that really got me was They (Don't) Live because when the movie started I was like is that Keith David? His voice is one that always stands out to me when I hear it, and I was like I didn't know he was in this and10 seconds later he's dead.
The thing I liked about this movie the most was the alien didn’t become aggressive until the guy started feeding it just like wild animals….
I like how the movie’s title is essentially every audience member’s reaction when the protagonist of a horror movie goes towards the dangerous threat instead of running away like a rational person.
And that that was ultimately the answe

This movie is a master class in Chekhov’s Gun. Pretty much everything that is shown earlier in The movie eventually proves to be incredibly important at the finale.
So when Fry's filed for bankruptcy, was Peele at the Burbank store with a cash offer for the van? That doesn't feel like a shopped prop, but store bought.

I have a serious fear of chimpanzees and I saw this movie in theaters... The Gordy scenes was by far the scariest part of the movie😱😱😱

I'm way too squeamish and normally avoid horror, so this is my first Jordan Peele movie. It lived up to the hype 100%. An excellent movie.

I try to understand Jacket's eating process, but keep getting tripped up by a bright green square mouth, and the digestion just looks like people screaming in a deflated bounce house. I need a whole book on occulonimbus biology, lol
I thought it was its mouth too but ive read elsewhere that the green square at the end is an eye
I didn't catch that either, lol. It's an alien enough morphdesign that my primitive monkey brain can't fully grasp it, and I desperately want to. I really really do. I am fascinated by this critter and want to know all about it, guts and all. So if it's an eye, the black square in the center isn't a hole, but a pupil? Or is it a hole, and its just strictly the green part that's the eye and it's not an eye in the traditional sense but more like a photoreceptor or very primitive eye-like structure? Like on a starfish? I MUST KNOW!!!
The green square is an eye not a mouth. It doesn't feed when it's in that weird octopus squid state. It's an intimidation display. It needs to be in the weird cowboy hat shape to eat.
