    • Do yourself a favor and get into the graphic novel now, before season two. This isn't a statement against the show, which was very good. However, the graphic novels make it look like a cheesy knockoff, which speaks to the novels excellence.

    • Same here 👍

      @kashura7174@kashura7174 Жыл бұрын
    • I'd stop well any of "cheesy knockoff", but the comic is better most definitely. There's less active villains, for a start. And you miss a lot of dialog and things that they just can't render well. That said, the casting had been spot on. The only place they diverged that I kind of wish they hadn't is Lucien; that's just that the comic version was so physically spot on for the person, three actress playing Lucienne is amazing and, like Charles Dance playing Lord Vetinari, makes up for it in her performance.

    • The comics were kind of the same. They took a while to get going, but once they did, it was incredible. If the series gets picked up for more seasons, it will only get better from here.

    • @@KG-VanityInKnickers The show, like the graphic novel, is not a steady piece of storytelling...not in terms of varying quality, but in terms of it doing and telling different sorts of stories at various times. Both media generally interchange standalone tales (which tend to be my favorites) and short arcs. The arcs in both graphic novel and even moreso the show can be slow burns...until their resolutions, in which case I think they tie out very well. Did you reach the episode split between Dream and Death spending an afternoon together along with the story of Dream and Hob? That's a combination of two of my favorite issues of the graphic novel, and the show does them both justice. Episode 11, likewise, is a great standalone story. I think you should try to take in the whole first season in its full variety; if you still are tepid on it, great, you've seen what it has to offer and it isn't for you. If you cut it well short, you might realize you like some of what you missed.

    • @@Ty-vj4wg 7-10 took its time, appropriate for that story, and entering 10 I felt like it might have fallen short of the graphic novel's telling of the arc...but I thought 10 did a terrific job of tying it all together and helped it add up to something worthwhile. Did you come back when 11 was released later on? You don't want to miss that one!

To my eyes, it looked like the effects team was mimicking the type of stop-motion claymation used for the faces in the rocks in Return to Oz.
