This is the best scene in the movie. (IMO) It's when French Paul crosses the line and brings a child into the game. Sorter isn't having that breach of protocol. He goes off. I am guessing Sorter has wall hacks. Those of you who would criticize keep in mind it IS 12 vs 1...
Mark strong is an phenomenal actor.
Indeed.
Guy needs to do a Sorter film his fans would love it
The scene when Sorter speaks to the girl is one of my favourite scenes ever. What an amazing character.
u dont fk with kids
Alfred Quinn exactly
"Damn straight."--Hit Girl [Chloe Grace Moretz] - Kick Ass.
Yes, this is the best moment from the film. Sorter had morality and a good conscience, he even warned them, enough is enough.
The character is INTJ.
Never EVER hurt children. That spark of good can come in at anytime.
Once Sorter props up his glasses it's pretty much GG for any hostiles in the area
LMAO!!
Soon after that one thug catches him off guard and shoots him in the back. These was a deleted scene but that's why he rolled his eyes at the end because he knew he fucked up.
That 1 second adjusting his glasses was the calculation of the huge problem he will have from now on with the mafis if he saves the girl. He chose the girl. Redemption. He found it.
Mark Strong is a hell of an actor and Sorter has no mercy
Remember watching this scene completely stoned. Never forget about it. The music. The camera work. All played so perfectly
The theme of the movie too eh? I remember being mind blown, goosebumps everywhere.
One of the best movie scenes ever!
Sorter managed to get free and walk away from the ego.
I never looked at it that way
I didn't connect that, good call. He was the third to break free. edit: well, first, if you consider Avi and Zach to be part of Jake's mind
@@scottrackley4457 Plus things didn't happen as expected. 1. Macca failed with the assassination attempt on Jake. 2. Jake's medical reports turned out to be fake 3. Avi and Zach were chilling in the icy birdbath, Macca's henchmen didn't acknowledge them and one of Macca's man was a "bodybuilding champion" but blew himself by his own gun? I think Jake's guardian angels intervened to save him from the bad guys. 4. They broke Macca's safe which was "impossible to break into" 5. They stole more drugs from Macca and Lord John in the transaction scene. 6. Sorter suddenly betrayed his own team to save Jake's family. 7. Macca and his gang never knew Avi and Zach but the two knew almost everything about Macca and his empire.
1000%
2:07 I love how the fourth guy doesn't even ATTEMPT to fight back - he just immediately flees because he knows he doesn't stand a chance against Sorter.
Probably the best 5 minutes of this film. 👍
So you didn't watch it right
this film is best every second of it
As far as the action goes, yes. But there were many good scenes.
The scene was so good that in one cut they give the impression that Sorter lives. In the Actual cut he gets killed by the boss. Sorter was just a hell of a good character.
Agree, hellowa a character!
Some times the bad guy lives long enough to realise he is the good guy.
Sorter is an assassin but he's clearly NOT a sadist and he really really doesn't like sadists.
Some Assassins have Codes and Standards. Like Leon the Professional, "No women and no kids."
such an amazing movie. takes a good 4 times watching it to understand all the intricacies of the plot, but you'll probably watch it at least double that amount anyway
should make a Sorter movie, he's savage.
The title?"Resolve" sounds like revolver a little bit, it's the sole word that describes sorter."Resolve. A prequel." and it would be like Wolverine in the sense it's a character background pre-dated movie.
@@gulgul2006 what does "sorter" mean exactly ?
SchutzStaffel well Sorter was his hit man name because “He will always sort things out”
@@gulgul2006 aha

So much potential for an anti-hero.

Very much like Scarface. And I respect that, don't care how it sounds
"Now you just have to come and get her"
I like how at 1:08 the dude on the left is actually not happy to find a kid. Puts his hand on his face cuz he knows what's probably gonna happen. Like he's seen before what happens to the kids.
I think you're misinterprating. He slaps his hand in his face because he thinks he's starting to hear things. He looks confused

The Hitman we want
One of my favorite parts as well.... old boy just snapped and had enough.
He's the sorter.
@RobertLock1978 that's what he does. He may be a villain but he only sifts out the other villains. His "feeling" prevented him from killing Mr.Green, and prevented him from protecting Macha. Then he executed all the other villains when they went after an innocent and did dishonorable things.
@@ForageGardener Shows that anyone is capable of doing the right thing, no matter what kind of background they have.

@@RobertLock1978 thanks bro
Sorter is clinical. A great movie character.
I love the fact that he always points the gun at his target's spine/base of their neck when he's at close range. It's actually a pretty smart move if you think about it - the most likely scenario is that they'll die because the brain can no longer send signals to the heart/lungs for involuntary regulation, but even if that somehow doesn't happen, they'll still in all probability be completely paralyzed and unable to fight back in any way because the nerves in their back have been completely severed. ...It's a very subtle visual indicator about how Sorter is a pragmatic gunfighter who isn't concerned with theatrics, he's all about working the odds in his favor
Sorter: The first and only man that is allowed to carry a Glock Switch LEGALY 😂
18c, that what the glock switch wishes it would be
its when he pushes his glasses up that you know whats about to pop off
I love how different his voice sounds when he says, "now all you gotta do is come and get her." Telling contrast.
Sorter's character arc mirrors that of Jake's, he's confronted with his own mortality as he misses that first shot, it makes him realize that he's getting old and weaker, this hurts his ego enough to get him started on a path towards enlightenment and absolution, and even though he does not manage to reach the end of that road the same way Jake does it, he does manage to struggle against the enemy within long enough for something good to come out of it by saving the child's life.
A criminal hitman redeemed himself within a few minutes. The man at the very least is an anti-hero, was always killing bad guys anyways; but this time he chose the targets.
That's one-way to look at it. Another way is that the sorter sorts the shitbags and he is himself also evil but he only separates the wheat from the chaff. The little girl was innocent. His inability to kill Statham was based on a "feeling" he got. The same "feeling" that caused him to save the girl and the same reason why Liotta got shot in the restaurant
one of the most memorable scenes from a movie ever.
Almost like a revolver
I don't know why there was ever a version where Sorter dies, he's too damn good. He already had one mistake he wouldn't have made another.
Wait... there's a version where he doesn't?
Lado Tsulukidze American version probably but its shit Mr.Macha doesn't die in the end.
Leon Kavallerie the American version is shit compared to the British cut!! I agree! Sad it seems Guy dumbed it down but yet the bigger meaning get lost and people don’t get it. The British version is fucking phenomenal and deeply impactful!

WOW!!! I tried luck finding this scene from Revolver... I'm so glad more people appreciated this scene because it is one of the best i've seen; The sequence, the photography, the dialogues.. it's SUPERB! Guy Ritchie is a true artist.
In polish version of this movie, they showed his death, killed by little useless man, who have fear from sorter, Sorter died in funny option, he knew that someone is aiming for him,
Best scene in Mark Strong's career.
(continued) ... made him take that step and choose to save the little girl. When it comes to his death, I think either suit him. The fact that it shows that heroes die too gives emphasis to his anti-hero being, showing that although he is "disturbed" and "invincible", it reminds us that he too is nothing more than a man. Too bad that this movie didn't receive the credit it deserved, not too many people understood the meaning of this movie. Either way, it's good to see that many minds were moved.
Do you know who the 14 people are that disliked the video? The same 14 guys that got mopped up by sorter in this clip.

Crazy that sorter is also Archie in rocknrolla
HOLY SHIT. I never would have caught that. Goddamn.
GOLD = EGO
Re the questions about how the folks downstairs knew Sorter had turned on them: probably the sound from the gunshots. That was one gun firing, not multiple, not overlapped, and very methodical. It wasn't a gunfight but an execution. Despite giving Sorter shit for his retiring manner, stammer and eccentricities, the rest of Macha's men knew what he could do, and might even have known that bringing a child into the Game could set him off.
As I remember. Someone called the guys downstairs and told them sorter got crazy
@@DronoTron It was apparently Lou (the driver) or Patrick (henchman who got shot at 2:50) bc remember, Lou was outside until he got tired of waiting and quietly sneaked into the room, he saw everything. Then there's Patrick who was ordered to check the house with the other gangsters, he probably alerted them after they heard the gunshots but I don't think it was Patrick, obviously he died too early. That lucky bastard was still hiding somewhere in the house before he got up to the third floor, we already know at that time, Sorter went from second floor to third floor eliminating the goons one by one. Either way, it still annoys me that theres two versions for Sorter's ending like a puzzle that can't be solved.
@@DronoTron To clarify, in this version, All the baddies, even the ones waiting outside were alerted by the gunshots. Original version, Lou alerted the guys outside about what he saw, Sorter's betrayal.

Grand moment de mise en scène...
Great scene, imo best from revolver. I love this moment when we see his decision - he is checking his glasses. And after all when he cleaning them:) I have probably short version. What is going on later with girl and Green's pall?
Dude was cool with laying out everything moving, but wasn’t with burning the dude or messing with little girl. Gotta have standards. That look at the end while he cleans his glasses, beauty and the beast. And I love the realism of how prefers too shoot dude in the spine. Rather then the head.
He was awesome but stupid as hell. I guess that's what led to his demise, should've kept the bad guy as hostage to save the girl.
@@ItzSJbro it was the formula to win the ultimate game that made him do so
@@lowkey213 Nah that's not what I meant. He doesn't think clearly in a firefight, walking slowly around with his gun at his side, taking cover behind a thin wall so he gets shot, and compulsively cleaning his glasses which leads to his death because he stopped paying attention where he really should have been watching his back until he was a long way from the building. Also, he could've held the bad guy hostage to save the little girl and her father.

There is a game called "Baldurs Gate" and in it you can choose your class Good, Evil Or Neutral, along with Lawful, Chaotic.. And, I forget the last one. Chaotic Neutral is classed as a madman.. A man with principles and morals, who will work for himself if need be, deciding who he will side with depending on how HE views the situation. That is NOT a madman. The madman was the guy threatening the girl and torturing her father with fire, and exuding 0 morals, class, or integrity... The weirdest looking, guy you would expect to be a deviant, but who operates on a level of principle, makes this amazing scene all the better.. Sorter is up there with Bullet Tooth Tony, Big Chris, Boris Da Blade and Mickey as one of Guy Ritchies most amazing characters. Mark Strong is captivating. "Che-Chec-Check she's dead Lou". As he hides a gun as big as his arm, down his trousers.
@1998DUBSTEP No, but he can hear through walls. In fact, everyone can, but he knows how to use it to his advantage. He's like Raymond in Rain Man, except he works as a contract killer.

The US version of this scene is so much better without the voiceover. Just watching Sorter snap. It's frustrating since everything else about the UK version is better.
The "ambidexterity" factor adds a nice flavor to it all. Main arm gets fucked? No problem, I have another that I've trained equally well!

@specter290 and he uses his Te to organize where to shoot. his Fi seems to be pretty developed. protecting the girl
I'd love to see a Sorter pre-quil (or however you spell it).
Sorter was conditioned to simply pulling the trigger and completing his job. Sorter was not accustomed to the use of torture against others... especially an innocent girl.
What kind of gun is that? It looks like a Browning 9mm HP, but I think I'm wrong because the Browning HP doesn't make an automatic 9mm HP pistol do they? (Of course guns can always be modified too...)
