    • @@thalessilva1 folk, this movie is a bit deeper than that. These violent scenes are there because that's what the market demands. The reality, there is a story within the story. Sorter is an accountant. He doesn't miss because numbers don't lie. Think about all the major corporate cons in the last thirty years. You know who saw the truth the whole time but were scared to act? Corporate accountants. What is Jake Green function throughout the movie; he's loaning money to folk HE KNOWS CAN'T PAY HIM BACK. In the Credit Card industry this type of borrower is called a REVOLVER; they're only able to pay interest, and so they're trapped in an unending revolving line of debt/ credit. The Greek and Egyptian art Macha possessed references to an 2500 year old book called "the Republic". In the late chapters Socrates explains the beginning of the end of an civilization (or at least its political system) when its economy transitions from a money (Mr. GOLD) to a debt (Mr. Green) based economy. In short order, inflation rises to the point only through credit can necessities be bought. The con is very few people realize money (must be pegged to gold) no longer exists and what that implies as far transferring wealth to children, buying a house or taking a large loan; the "money" you're borrowing doesn't exist, there fore the risk of the borrower not paying them back doesn't exist, and yet, borrowers must pay the principle and substantial interest for borrowing "money".

  • "oh, oh, okay. That's enough."--Sorter. ah oh. When Sorter says "That's enough.", you should listen. When a hitter can accurately shoot through walls, you should truly straighten up and get serious. "Sorter is worth six normals."--Revolver. This, IMHO, was Mark Strong's best scene ever. His expression when he's upset is like no other. I've never seen anyone get that upset in such a focused way.

  • There are two versions of this movie. In the US released version this is how the scene ends giving you the impression that the girl and Jake Greens brother are ok. In the European version Sorter is shot and killed right before this scene ends in this video. The brother is presumably killed and the little girl is taken to Macha. The same Macha henchman that kills Sorter and takes the little girl to Macha is the one that informs Macha what happened at the apartment. The ending in the European version is different. These scenes were cut from the US version. Jake Green and Macha have a different type of showdown where Macha has the little girl and he has a pistol in his hand giving the impression he’s either going to kill Green or the little girl. By this time like in the US version Macha has completely succumbed to his ego and ends up committing suicide. Because of this the little girl is freed and Green has dominated and is controlling his ego. A much more powerful ending as opposed to the US version.

    • Right-on, Mejia. I saw the euro version bank in 2005. Couldn't stop thinking about it for months. After six months I thought the film was predicting a rough economic (self-inflicted with a little push) downturn for America. I was wrong. a decade (plus) later., I realized the film is actually a clever story of behavioral economics, the central and fractional banking systems which are far worse than any "accidental" deep recession or depression caused by the "business cycle". Jake Green represents central banking, or the Federal Reserve in this instance because this story is central banking VS. America conflict, and functions throughout the movie distributing his fake 12 dollar bills to first a struggling Polish business man, Japanese businessman, and then a penniless old woman. The fakeness pf the 12 dollar is important because central banks like the Federal Reserve create massive wealth for themselves by printing dollars and loaning monies while collecting interest when they don't have the money on hand. In fractional banking this is called the reserve rate. Now the criminal part of this is the multiplier effect where the bank can loan out 5 billion but is only legally responsible to have 500 million in assets. Because the Fed sets the interest rate, set the reserve rate, and prints fiat monies, this con is systemic - aka too big to fail. Now that you know Mr. Green , who do you suppose Mr. Gold is? That's right Mr. Gold is gold. By the way, you have know econ, psych and history play this game.Historically gold was the motivation for a great deal of mass murder of colored folks by whites and particularly during Bouillon economic eras. They did this mainly so they field enough troops to kill each other. Taking this in account, this is why Mr. Gold is feared. No one sees gold (anymore), because the US Government rounded up all the gold US citizens had tucked away and paid them $22 an ounce to support the war effort and had the Fed control it at Fort Knox. For decades, there were no public accounts of the nations wealth (gold) stored their, and it was much later when President Reagan tried to peg the fiscal budget to back to gold, that the nation found out their was no more gold. The Fed sold it to its Euro counterpart as collateral to our deficit spending for war. By the way, this finite amount of gold was bought from the interest payments from the billions of dollars generated out thin air - 85% of currency and wealth doesn't exist in any tangible form, but records are stored in bank databases. This was symbolized by the sleeping gas robbery scene. Macha of course is present day America who is past its prime although he's not aware of it. I forgot what ancient stated this but to summarize: when empires decay they treat their own like they treat the folk they have subjugated. Hence the gun to the child's head. He only puts the gun to his own head when green gives a slight push. Macha never realizes who the real enemy was because Mr. Green was giving him worthless fiat money. This is foreshadowed when Green's brother tries to warn him off stating: no one sees gold and lives to tell except you. Central banks are the new gold, and they will kill nearly everything on this earth ala global warming. Hail to the Thief - Radiohead.

  • Five shots, reload to a 33 round magazine. One automatic burst. Reload. Six shots. Reload. Two shots. Sorter wants to keep his gun topped off, man. I suppose it's not unreasonable to do, considering the sheer quantity of enemies he was facing and how dangerous his situation was. Would've made more sense for him to keep all the partially filled magazines he had. The automatic burst easily would've exhausted all 33 rounds in even that tiny two second burst, Glock 18's fire extremely fast in full auto. The final reload he does is from empty, his slide is locked back, which is odd and probably just a continuity error, considering he only shot six bullets prior.

    • Saul, this movie is an allegory on the central banking system and the economic reality of the world. Sorter represents squared away accountants, regulators and other professions that keep business practices clear for investors and stockholders . When they are not doing their job there is GREAT prosperity in the short term, but in the long term......think Enron. That said, these regulators loose their meekness and their efficacy are highest after economic treachery bolstered by new laws etc.... . The "one shot, one kill" Sorter scene followed by the henchman killing him off sums up reality pretty well - think the Great Recession only a decade after Enron (systemic fiscal Shenanigans). This behavior is the source of "Business Cycle" -(recessions/Depressions). So to answer your question, the killing of sorter is an allusion to agents of the central banking system (JAKE GREEN) killing regulation.

    • @@MC1995xx fair enough. Again, Revolver is an allegory and Sorter represents government regulation, but today regulators are paid by the corporations they are suppose to govern. So, corporations have regulators under control, but when during major economic scandals or downturns that severely affect "main street America", then they display the same efficacy they show on foreign market competitors. The con is being played on our (boom, X,) generations but the costs of the con will be payed by the girl (generation X, Y and on). As we have witnessed from the Revolving actions of the past, regulators are the only people able to stop inevitable conclusion. If you still can't understand, this stuff is not for you.

    • It's up to us to intercept it however we want to to be honest, it's true they could have made it a bit less confusing with a line like "Sorter what are you doing?!", but given these people work together, you could imagine perhaps Sorter voiced his disagreement on the way there when they mentioned the guy had a daughter and they planned to use that against the father, and having heard Sorter's gun fire and seen the other henchmen dead, it's within reason for him to assume Sorter went rogue because of the girl.
