So just as a personal note, I am extremely excited for Devil May Cry 5 (If you didn't notice. Evidence, I guess, would be the beginning of this video), and I can't wait for more info. When I first played a game in this series, I actually disliked Dante, feeling that he was a weird dude that started out as a quiet assassin, to become the guy he is during the Hamlet scene.
Though as I eventually played through the first and third game in the franchise, I ended up loving the Son of Sparda.
Probably will make a video on him sometime in the future, but until then, this should do. Either way, I hope that you'll enjoy this vid!

I quite like how Nero is almost the opposite of what we know of Sparda. Sparda was refined, elegant, graceful and had a joy about himself. Nero is unrefined, raw, untamed and generally pretty sour, if still playful.

In an interview, Itsuno said that if it weren't for Kyrie, Nero would've turned into another Vergil. Notice that the only thing that Nero is motivated to do anything is because of her. Now imagine if she had died. I can totally see Nero do what Vergil did if Kyrie had died.

Nick Oak I don't see Kyrie dying in this one. If anything, I see Trish as the most likely candidate. Unless they make a new character to kill off. I only think someone's going to die considering the fact that the game seems to parallel a lot with the novel lol
I dont know, the way Nero says that "He's got a sxore to settle with that son of a bitch" and when he starts reaching out towards someone in that scene in the trailer makes me think that Kyrie may not have been able to "Get inside"
Nick Oak I have more of a feeling he's referring to Vergil ripping off his arm and stealing the Yamato back from him since Dante entrusted him to keep it.

I love the foreshadowing in the line "It's gotta stay in the family". Which unbeknownst to us at the time, Yamato did when Nero kept it after DMC4.

I strangely thought Nero was Vergil and at some point in his memories would return to him or something like that. I'm happy I was wrong because I liked Nero as a character and I didn't want him to just disappear like V.

DrIvanRadosivic DMC3 Dante also goes through character development. Reboot Dante's development doesn't compare to what the original one had, specially since the Reboot tries to emulate Dante and Vergil's conflict and development without understanding what made those two characters great.

shiroace When dmc4 first came out, alot of people thought nero was just a bland dante poser. I thought he was his own kind of bad ass with his own spot light. His design and his combat techniques were top notch as well. And there’s two swords that tie in first place for me: A engine sword, and a chain saw sword, nero has a chopper style sword by the way it sounds. So yeah, pretty much a legend in the devil hunting community.

I can't even express how great this video is. Since the last time I played DMC4, it was 10 years ago and I was 14 years old, I wasn't able to see these things about Nero. I guess I was too disappointed that Dante wasn't the star anymore for my teenage to be rational about him. Now, thanks to you, I'm actually unable to hide my excitement about replaying Devil May Cry 4, which until now I was dreading and postponing due to my dislike of Nero. Really, great video. Thank you!

From a genetic stand point. Nero is definitely more human than Vergil. Vergil 1/2 Human 1/2 Demon. Nero 1/4 Demon, 3/4 Human. Emotions are definitely traits of humanity. I believe when Vergil was younger being raised with Dante before their mother died. He was indeed a whiny little bitch who cried like most children. :D Besides, he's human/Demon hybrid.
Also a lust for power is a human thing. We see it in history, big world leaders, dictators, tyrants and even in capitalistic societies Businessmen (Love, greed and such.) Even in DMC3 before Vergil stabs dante, the shit he was saying "Without power, you can't protect those you love" kind of thing. Was an extremely dark human characteristic and such.

Nero really is underrated and often discredited as a flat dante immitation. It's nice seeing people talk about him

I think there's a misinterpretation here at 8:50 or so. Vergil, as of DMC3, doesn't see Dante as an obstacle. He *wants to* see him as an obstacle but... There's a reason he actually speaks full sentences in multiple inflections to Dante in the game and basically no one else: he sees his brother as his only possible peer, and their first fight on Temen-Ni-Gru is less about taking the amulet (as he says to Arkham, he could have just done that earlier, no sweat), and more about communicating with the younger son of Sparda. He wants his brother to understand. He says 'why do you _refuse_ to gain power" and calls Sparda "our father". Which suggests he's offering him more than he offers anyone else alive in terms of respect and agency. Even in taking the amulet, there's a sense of disappointment behind the contempt, and that moment where he presses the last memento of their mother to his brow before slicking back his hair speaks to the gulf between them and the connection they have all at once.
I was thinking could you do a In the mind of for kratos from god of war, in the future? So we can see how the slayer of gods became a father again.

LiverSpottedHunk If you what to see what made Vergil so loved then play Devil May Cry 3. That's where his role is the most important and where he got all of his badassness from.
DMC3 Final battle is THE BEST boss battle in the series. Both story wise and gameplay wise Vergil there is brilliant.
You got no reason to not buy the Devil May Cry collections, while you wait for DMC5.
