I bought the cheapest Range Rover Vogue in the UK. But its cheap for a reason, its been in an accident. The Land Rover is damaged all over and turns out it has some pretty bad damage to the body of the car. I am determined to rebuild this car so i can use it as my towing machine. But will i ever finish it...

Mat, by now you must a-door this car 😉
Wow 😂
Give "rover" Guys these puns are terrible
@J "Rover" is what you call a Dog!
@@Lamster66 You should've just left the puns to the other guys mate😂
Brilliant 🤣
The problem with the rear door to quarter is that you can't take a door from one car and guarantee it will fit another. I work for JLR. The tooling wears so the nut plate in the door and the hinge position are constantly adjusted to ensure the gaps and flush are correct. To correct the rear door to quarter gap. Slightly loosen the bottom door to hinge bolts. The bottom of the door will move inwards and correct the bottom of the door being over flush to the quarter. You will have to do this several times until you get it in the correct position. Use the paint marks beneath the bolts as a guide. Loosen the bolts, let the door drop inwards and then push the door out with your knee as you tighten the bolts up in the required position. Then do the same to the front door to match the rear door. You will then need to take the bottom of the fender inboard to match up with the front door. Regarding the style lines. Instead of moving the hinges move the door striker to line up the style lines on the door. On the tailgate. It needs raising up on both hinges. That will correct the style line issues.
Like so he can see this
There'll be lots of people over the years that'll google this info and you just saved them a ton of time.
I’m also a panel setter for JLR and can confirm this is correct :)
@@brandenalexander6038 why cant he?
@@xOwebbyOx Absolute legends. Only with JLR will you find staff who actually worked on the damn things lending a hand in the comment section.
There should be a plastic splash guard by the lower tailgate between the bumper and lower elements.

@@alunesh12345 fortunately I don’t believe in such utter shite and I can go about my day doing whatever I like 👍
Well I work at body shop i can come fix it
You already know this is going to be an epic build once it’s done. Can’t wait!
Yes you can wait and you will wait….
K I agree

Genuinely glad KZhead recommended this video ! Normal lad doesn’t pretend to know everything and learns. Fair play ! Great channel
Mat, I work for Land Rover myself there have already been comments about the dimple being for keyless entry but you also need to check the inside of the door matches up when it comes to wiring, motors and components that you fit back in as these can be different depending on the spec and options the car had for example the ones you took off will have wiring and mounts for meridian sound system. Also some parts from the same age and spec can be different if they have different vin ranges bit of a minefield
Yup agreed! I worked there 3 years on the door line alone with other quality departments and can say this is a spot on comment
Did u guys do an apprenticeship to get into a job at land rover?? 🤔
no mate, I applied for a job and was lucky at the time to get a job 1 of 1200 jobs with over 50k applicants… good money but you do graft in some areas! I was quality so I was quite lucky
@@brun_s oh I see wow lucky you mate cuz I'm 16 rn and wanting to do an apprenticeship in mechanics becoming a vehicle technician that's why I asked lol
@@hassan.hadier I’d 100% recommend trying to get an apprenticeship with JLR or Aston Martin! Totally worth it. If you do so. Good luck 🤞🏻
Loving this series already mat. That dimple on the door is for keyless locking btw 👍🏼
You don’t see many of these being modified well, so I’m sure after Mat puts his stamp on it that’ll change 😁
Check out some Barugzai builds ...
@@InsanityRenn chavurgzai....
@@bmorris5863 have you seen any of Mats previous builds? 😂
@@InsanityRenn good point hahahaha
@@bmorris5863 hi
Well done Matt and Hannah, great progress, speaking from experience all modern cars full of gadgets have to have matching door harness and modules cos in some strange way manufacturers must enjoy swapping one pin and one wire to create headaches for us novices 🤔 well done for patience and perseverance 👏👏 keep up the great content im hooked 🤩
You’re well and truly gifted Mat, good luck, and keep us all updated please as you rebuild this gem of a bargain.
Much respect mate, that RR looked like its giving you a right beating.. and you have only just scratched the surface… as always a great watch 👍🏻 can wait see how this turns out.
Your work ethic and dedication are inspiring, I love the pace and tone of your videos as well. Super awesome channel
Nice progress Matt, it’s just a thought but is that rear door of an SVR as I think they have more pronounced arches than the Autobiography & it lines up along the other shut lines 🤔
You mean "SV", but I agree
@@gamersquadlifestyle no mate the SVR
@@piovo5222 they didn’t make a vogue svr, so it is sv mate
@@4xbuu no mate no no no this is pagani amg Bugatti saloon bro
@@piovo5222 lol😂I even googled something I already know rn to make sure and time I'm such a massive LR / RR fan but there's no SVR version of the Range Rover Vogue the only thing close to that is a SV Autobiography, although there's a RR Sport SVR🤧 although in your case brother your right enjoy your day✌🏾
Big up rob what a brilliant bloke. Used him personally myself and what a decent bloke perfectly priced and amazing at his job! Welldone 👍🏻
I love this series and I am excited to see what the car will end up looking like. Also, at 19:23 if you approach the car with the key and you place your finger in the handle (it's touch sensetive) it'll unlock the car (and fold the mirrors out) and when you touch that little bump or the case of the FL door, the 2 lines then the car locks and the mirrors fold, I am sure you knew that but maybe I helped a bit! Keep u the great content!
Welldone mat for pulling through you got this the end result will be amazing aswell keep at it and keep bringing the quality episodes your also teaching us and giving us confidence to try new things that seem impossible
Going to be my favourite series this. Absolutely loving it! Some lovely kits available for these. Could the issue be the door rather than the quarter?

Superb content as usual, I love how you just give it a go and and enjoy the journey! Awesome
Those panel gaps are just normal RR standard. Great work!!

I was thinking the same,
Never the less, well done mat, your work is truly outstanding!!!
I started watching your channel back when u had the bmw 1 series! I love the variety of cars you have brought to the channel and how you never give up on any challenges that arise! Great content as usual wishing you the best bro👍
Never thought I’d be interested in content like this but you’ve got me hooked! Looking forward to seeing this build completed
Good progress! Part of a previous job I had involved sometimes removing and re attaching looms from van doors, I feel your pain!
Your determination is just something to behold, great content. Keep creating and we will keep watching🙌
The quarter is well in. There not spot welded the cold riveted and bonded due to being aluminium. I repair these at work everyday but can be done 😂
Such an awesome car, cant wait for the next video! I think I talk for a lot of people when I say your attitude is inspiring!
Just love the positive attitude, the way you troubleshoot and make nothing seem impossible!
This video made me happy watching for some weird reason lol… seeing you fixed all the little problems for free! That’s amazing. I love it. Keep wrenching man !!
What a pleasure your videos are to watch so informative and detailed .well done sir and the best of luck in everything you do .
What a great hands on attitude you have! Great video Thank you!
11:44, the reflection🤣
Dead 😂😂😂😂
Great work. So satisfying when you get things sorted. I don't think I'd have the patience 👍
Looks like this might be an interesting restoration. Looking forward to see this finished.
Thanks for uploading this today literally spent the last week watching everyone of your car vids in order and was on the last one as you uploaded this… so now I have this to watch tonight … so cheers 🍻
I loove the passion you have for this car rebuilds,
You have so much energy… I would’ve given up a long time ago. You’re an inspiration.
Like your point about the glass roof and would agree, that would at the least be leaking or out of line or like you say popped completely. ! Good luck with it..
Difference between the 2 handles is passiv entry with the one with Chrome surrounding and a dimple. Unlocks when you put your hand in between handle and door.
The reflections on the quarter panel at 11:51 are just hilarius :DDD
I love Range Rovers, and watching Matt rebuild this car with such enthusiasm is great . Cant wait to see the end result
Hi Matt. The bootlid is composite plastic /fiberglas and could be cracked up by the hinges where they usually give way. If theres no cracks then a new set of hinges will sort it its very common
Respect man! Have to love an enthusiastic guy doing really frustrating jobs lol, addicted to your channel guys, keep er lit
Matt that back 1/4 panel can be fixed with a good body repair shop . Keep up the good work mate 👍
I love Mats face in the reflection of the car, starting at 11:36 .
"The mic enhances the noise". Does that mean those exhausts have been quiet 🤣🤣
If there's access inside the boot for rear panel put a bladder in there and push out from inside just an idea 👌,looking good so far.
I love how Hannah (ig is his gf) helps him. It's just so wholesome.
It looks perfect ❤ Great Channel Mat, really enjoy how you do your thing.
My favourite yet. As I have a l405 autobiography it's fascinating to see everything in peices. You have the patience if a Saint. Well done.
Glass roofs/pano roofs and sunroofs too, all have quite a lot of weight to them. The weight in this rod will be fairly significant. If this slid down a verge sideways and was then stopped abruptly as reached the bottom/side, then the momentum and sudden stop may have shifted the top half of the car to one side slightly. Just a thought. I remember reading somewhere that a pano roof on a mini added 80kg to the roof. They massively raise a vehicle’s roll centre.
Good Video! Just a thought re the rear door fit ... it could be that the lower part of the rear door itself below the fold line is bent outwards? Personally I'd take it to a Range Rover approved third party repairer (there is a list on the Jaguar Land Rover webite) and get their thoughts on what is wrong. They could also check the chassis. Estimates are normally free - Good Luck!
My thoughts too 🙌
really do enjoy your videos Mat. Thanks again for pumping out such great content. 🔥
Love your channel mate 👍🏼 to close the boot on the range just press the top button it shuts bottom as well 😊
Matt you have come a long way since I first started watching your content amazing work Matt keep it up ❤️😝
Got a pretty good bargain with that Mat, Saw one on copart the other day same age and slightly lower mileage that went for 20k Bodyshop could fix that rear quarter easily with a panel puller
Mat. This is going to be a great build. I like your idea of subtle additions.
Awesome 👏 👏 work Matt..... its all down to the detail
Entertaining first episode. Looking forward to more episodes. Keep up the good work.
Don't worry about it matt. Its nothing you can't handle. Upto now you have overcome every obstacle you've had. You can sort this one too.
That rear quarter is just pushed in you could see it against the plastic liner trim that you removed. A body shop will repair that no problem.
Just make sure you go to a good body shop, easy fix
That's a whole heap of work dude, fair play to your persistence 😎 She'll be a grand ride once she's finished, keep her lit 👍🏼
You give me Ben foster vibes, same accent and so so positive about everything
The tailgate hinges also crack and split so double check them as that is why the tailgate drops. You adjust but after a few cycles, it drops again. The door handles are both keyless entry, just different models. The modules in each door are coded and share some parts of the wiring in the loom hence you need the right module and loom. Hope that helps.
Great work so far Mat, I think this Range needs some nice big fat Red Brembo Calipers fitted as an upgrade!
Loving the video, looking forward to watching the rest of the transformation. Might be a daft question but - are you sure the 'new' rear door is straight? Afterall that could be from an accident damaged car and bent out of shape, your RR could be fine?
Believe in JESUS today, confess and repent of your sins. No one goes to heaven for doing good but by believing in JESUS who died for our sins. For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.(John 3:16)🥳❤️😗❤️🙌
Matt get in contact with Rob & Chris at salvage rebuilds, they could sort the 1/4 panel or jig it to be sure it’s straight, it would be great content for the both of you 👍
Yep, great idea.
I support Mat by watching through every second, including the ads, so he gets that all important maximum watch time😉
Loving this build Mat, I remember doing my Audi electric mirriors with looms and drivers. On/ off. Your a star. Love your commitment 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟😉🤗🙌🙌👏👏👏❤️
I got a feeling this one is gunna be the biggest challenge yet bro😭. Gassed for the transformation 🔥
Love your videos Matt. Wish you could upload every day.

No words I'm just happy for you and so excited for the future videos
What a cracking idea, a Range Rover. Love the look of these. Let’s see what you can do with it!!👌🏻🤩
Number plate says SVJ subtle hint at the next car?? 👀👀🤣
Welcome to the wonderful world of Range Rovers. I have a love/hate relationship with them. I can't wait to see the Mat Armstrong edition. 😍
Love your content mate keep up the good work!!! cheers from France
Loving the build great job matt
Something to watch out for if you decide to replace panels yourself, the car is full of self pierce rivets (just under 4000) because it’s around 95% aluminium construction, there are a few spot welds like the ones you pointed out but there are some SPR under the arch that you showed. Spot welds are usually in pairs and flush both sides whereas SPR have a button protruding on the underside. You can find an example of SPR if you look under the the gasket for the door aperture. You can get a handheld SPR gun but access will probably be an issue on an assembled car. Love your stuff keep up the good work👍
Thanks so much mate!
Hi mat excellent video you do really no that it won't be straight forward as RR aren't but your making progress and doing really well keep it up buddy can't wait to see the finished version
I've waited for your latest video to drop all week I've been stuck at home in the bedroom with covid and instantly my day has perked up
theres little rubber stoppers on the boot you can adjust to line the the boot lid to the body, the have them on the bonnet aswell
I f**king love this channel, only found it recently but love watching these rebuilds!
