So I see a lot of people saying they love these minor updates (as new models). This type of marketing would make tech very very boring. Thinking you ever hate on an Apple product, why? Because they do such minor updates each time, yet they still have an amazing solid product, just like the XM1. So what's next, the XM1rRGB????? my head is spinning now!

I just dont like the xm1 shape cause its a bit big for my hands. I would really like to see their next new shape or an xm1 mini over wireless personally.
@@gmil47 they've pretty much confirmed that an XM1 mini is coming sometime in the future. Not sure on wireless, but it'd be fire as wireless from the get go.

I usually like your content but this honestly one of the most confusing rants I've ever heard. Why is it a bad thing that a company takes criticisms to heart and updates their products?? You want them to be more like Razer, who update their Viper models silently so you can't tell if you got the new V2 switches or the new mouse skates until you open the damn box? Or like Logitech where they don't update their double clicking switches for nearly TWO YEARS?? I fail to see how this is bad in any way, shape, or form. I'd rather them continually update their models and show it directly on the box so I know what I'm getting. It's not like it costs more than the V2 retail either. If you're content with the XM1 V2 of course you don't need to get the XM1r, that goes verbatim. This model completely replaces the XM1 V2 as well, so I don't get how people would be confused, particularly since this mouse isn't even sold in store in America. You can literally only get it online. What's confusing is trying to find a Viper with V2 switches because they won't even TELL you which models have them. How is that not more confusing? How are we not getting a rant video on that rather than a company being literally more transparent about the changes in their product? As to your point about tech being boring...I don't get that one either. Why wait for the wireless version for all these upgrades when they can push them out right now? Like with the GPW where we all sat and twiddled our thumbs for nearly two years for them to actually update the switches in the mouse (which even then, it might be a toss up as to whether you get the old switches or the new one). Nah fam, this way is a million times better.
The xm1r really only gets positive attention so by making a “rant” about this mouse he sets himself apart and gets more views than everyone else who praised it

They are perfecting a product that is nearly flawless, while really listening to their customers... all at a very competitive price. What is there to rant about?
Yeah. And the sensor switch is already a step towards the future wireless. This isn't mean to be for people who already own XM1.
@@lepari9986 Exactly, they perfected this mouse and this will be their flagship now. I highly doubt they will do anymore revisions to the XM1. Next is the wireless version.
@@Woot30 Yes. They will do smaller one and then wireless, I think it's confirmed. Though the latter one will be more towards Q4 probably.
@@lepari9986 Yeah I emailed them and that sounds about right. The XM1 mini will be the mini version of the XM1 R so there will be no need for revisions. If you are using a wired mouse this is the best mouse and company in the market. No need to ever rant on them.

@@thaqo8510 my bad, must have misread it on the phone. Perfect shape, perfect coating. i'm totally ok with them sending out small refreshes and upgrades.
Basically this one is perfected XM1. Mostly for people who don't own XM1 yet and don't care for RGB. The sensor is also a step towards wireless XM1. Great release and that Dark Frost looks amazing.
agreed, they listened to customer feedback and fixed a lot of the issues that the original had. imo they're a step in the right direction

If not for the name changes, you would never know if you got the newer or older versions when buying the mouse. Retailers don't always know the batch they are selling so asking them usually won't help either. It is much better to have a new model than having to guess and hope you get the new version when buying the mouse.

I really like Endgames strategy on this , they optimized their mouse with every new model + its easier to find their newer mouse with instead of searching for batch numbers you just get this R version
Adding to that, just like the XM1 RGB, they make tiny changes and controversial changes intentionally in order to consolidate their direction they want to head in the future. They saw people loved the skates and the switches on the RGB, duo skate design + gm8.0 on XM1R. They saw people hated 10g weight more than the RGB, XM1 wireless might not have RGB. So that's why after buying the original XM1(2nd version) I stopped buying endgame gear and kept waiting. Because I know better mice will come in a very short period of time.

@@j0ms146 I have smaller hands, so for my relaxed claw I chose the pwnage symm 2 since viper mini's shape besides the concave grip is very similar to the xm1. I believe the xm1 mini will be a slightly more aggressive viper mini shape. btw the wireless will be announced towards the end of March and mini will come around June.
@@rheejin9987 YAY THANKS FOR UPDATE IM SO EXCITED FOR END OF MARCH YAYAYAYAY- and ok valid. i have a pwnage symm 1st gen and i used to love it- not so much anymore as the build quality is shit on 1st gen and its mega rattly. im currently on my 1st gen xm1 rgb and its really my endgame until they release wireless.
I personally enjoy this as i enjoy the xm1 in general. The feet take a little time to break but should round out. The cable was intentionally made more durable or slightly worse as they had some issues with cables failing. The new sensor has a far lower error rate latency and consistent dpi. Its nice to get the latest and greatest for a mouse you already like.

I've been watching Techne since the channel was around 60~80k subscribers? tbh can't remember. Its been truly remarkable to see him grow his channel and absolutely love the fact that he hasn't changed his style and truthfulness.

its true, the only thing they need to do with the xm1 is make it wireless and then offer new wired sizes, later new shape models.
Normally I would agree with ya, but I feel the company is just acting on demand.Some people look at how relevent the mouse is ,this is how they widened their buyers range.if you don't agree comment.

I find myself going back to the XM1 over and over, despite owning a Viper Ultimate and Model O Wireless. I am trying out a Burst Pro as well. But the XM1 is still king for my claw grip.

Does the Dark frost coating gives you shudder feeling ? Cuz looking at the way dark frost looks gives me a shudder feeling compared to white and black ones or it feels different that it looks ?
For the cable, there were complaints about the cable being "too flexible" I've never tried the xm1 so i'm not really sure. But I prefer right in the middle amount of flex on my cables.

I completely agree with you. Actually they should have release the second version with hot swappable switches and even cables :D and sell it for a bit more... Yes, different sizes would make much more sense and of course wireless for lot of people. The most positive thing what they finally fixed on this one, the scroll wheel click. It was very firm on the first one, better but still quite firm on the second version and finally good on the rgb version and also on this one... Anyway, see what happens later this year. And happy new year mate! ;)

Got the xm1r as I've never owned previous revisions and its great! But I can see how its a headache that they update the mouse every 6 months or w.e lol
I had the very first XM1, the one with the rubber cable. I loved it, but: - the sides buttons were cheap (mine broke after a year) - the coating was terrible and became oily and greasy so quickly that I had to put a rubber grip pretty much everywhere - the rubber cable was obviously very stiff I'm going with the XM1r now. If you're coming from the very first XM1 ever released, I think the r version is worth the upgrade. The other versions are pretty much all the same. Greetings from Italy :)
I love ur vids... one of the few youtubers, who I watch in english and like them, thanks for the perfectly videos and the nice reviews ;) Now I have ordered the XM1r for home, the XM1 I am using in the office, but NOW, I have seen, that Endgame give us the possibility to pre-order the XM2w ;) the wireless version, which would have exactly 63g like my active mouse Logitech Superlight Pro X ;) now, this is real ;) I hope they will deliver fast ;)

reason why they made the cable more durable was that they had some problems, the soft cable usually got damaged after months of usage (i have had 2 xm1s and both had problem with the cable after 4-5months)

techne idky im sitting here binging all of your mouse reviews, but i noticed that the background song you used is the same filler song that Movie Recaps uses in all his vids.
What is this guy ranting about? It just makes sense that they made another model when they included RGB so that people could choose if they wanted RGB or not. Didn't hear you complain when MM711 was released. New switches are more than welcomed. New sensor, new cable etc. Is your wish really that they just implemented this in the XM1 model? So that people that are wanting the latest and greatest will just be hoping to get the latest batch, and if they don't they would just need to return it? No. I think they did good with releasing a new model that has new important parts.

@@TheTechne No, those were genuine questions. Aren't you all up for improvements on a mouse? It's already a shape that many people like, and it's not like they just added one new thing. I'm glad that they made a new model rather than just implementing the improvements on a current model. That would be risky for the buyers. More companies should improve their model. They all just keep making different shapes. Imagen a G305 with improved quality, new switches, better skates, lighter weight, but no. They had to move on to the next shape.

i ordered the old one because it was cheaper and now im kinda glad i didnt pay extra cash to get the same thing
to be fair this isnt really presented as like a new new mouse with revolutionary features its just a refresh. razer has done the same thing with the deathadder and logitech with the g502 so i don't really see the issue and i'm pretty sure that it is cheaper than the xm1 v2 but im probably wrong. the mouse has aftermarket clicks and some new colorwaves and thats not that bad of a refresh to me. they also changed the sensor to one found on a lot of wireless mouse so i believe that they are trying to adjust people to that sensor so that when the wireless one does come out in late 2021 then people will have a pretty seamless transition.

Whilst I appreciate that it may be a little bit "boring" to keep reviewing revised products, it truly is great to see a company willing to perfect an existing product rather than lead you to believe that the old one has been massively surpassed now and you should buy the new one. It's actually nice to see reviewers be able to say "If you have an XMR1 v2, keep it! If you're new to this (like me) get the XM1r.
True, but at this point it just.......... people tag on apple product for doing this. Yes solid product “best out of the box mouse”. My other point here is, us as tech reviewers we could really use our platforms to better and escalate tech improvements I believe, but free products do the talking I guess ;)

I completely disagree with what you said in this video. I think that it is the best option for them to add a new name to the minor refreshes, to differentiate what version you are getting. Does it deserve a review? Probably not. Is it worthy of a new name? 100%.
