you are pure idiot. U claim that dinosaurs were the ancestors with no evidence. You are also pure evil
@@j919or dinosaurs are ancestors of all birds . According to available findings till date
@@pavan35007 According to current fantasy. Suddenly there were a couple of wings, and a dinosaur decided to try to fly. Yea right.
How is it that the footage in this video looks better than the Sony A1?
@@kathy888Pterodactyl..?
"the osprey, unfazed by the bite, takes this lizard fish for a nice aerial view of its prior home before disappearing to eat its hearty catch"- wonderful narration weaved seamlessly into a first class presentation of the osprey. Well done!
Thank you!
I agree!
This is my first osprey-video ever. Yet somehow is exactly how I though it would be with those birds. Thanks for great shots and the stories.
Not only a brilliant photographer but also a great story teller Thanks, Mark!
Thanks
We have a house on the Corpus Christi Bay we get to watch this bird everyday from the back porch what a honor what an amazing sight.
The osprey is an amazing bird and your images are incredible.
Very brave Bird
I could watch hours of your content. Your photos are breath taking & your commentary is engrossing. What an amazing bird & huge respect to you.
Thanks
5:14 - I've never heard a narrator's story so vividly illustrated that I do not see a huge difference between the photos and a real film. Just a masterpiece of brilliant bird storytelling.
Slightly obsessed with Osprey? Are ya now? Well, Good for you! And... Good for us too! The time and energy that you spent, not to mention the money, in getting all of these highly prized photographs... And then sharing all of it with us is a testament of passion. Your passion for Osprey, coupled with your "unbridled determination," to piece together this magnificent compilation the way you did, along with the detailed narration is greatly admired, and gratefully appreciated. Thank you Mark Smith. 👍
One of the best wildlife videos that I seen in a long, long time.
Thanks
The Osprey is my favorite bird. I was working in Burbank California. There was city for at least 15 miles in every direction. To my suprise, on top of a telephone pole was an Osprey. We were working next to the concrete lined Los Angeles River. A small stretch of river where we were has a natural gravel and rock bottom. This Osprey was living in the city fishing in the Los Angeles River. I've seen plenty of Osprey in Montana where I go every year to fish. This was the first and only one I've seen in Los Angeles. I love your picturs, thank you.
Thank you for not only taking the photos but giving us the real story behind the bird. What a truly intelligent designed bird.
An AMAZING talent of this photographer is nearly matching osprey’s fishing prowess. Gorgeous footage. Thank you, Mark for this breath taking video!
Dude you are one awesome story teller. Awesome pictures!!!
Your photography and narrative is great! I myself take photos of ducks and birds of prey, and have real respect of your talent!
I was just thinking that!!!
The Osprey is now reintroduced in Scotland after years of disappearing. Some were found in one or two lochs and is now breeding very well according to Scottish bird agency.
And we are so glad to have them. Check out the Loch Arkaig webcam.
Good to hear. We in upstate New York are glad to report ospreys are common and Bald Eagles . I watched an osprey grab a pike this summer. It was too big to lift, so the bird paddled with its wings to shore, dragging the fish all the way.
The osprey was never reintroduced in Scotland, it recolonised naturally.
Awesome
What happened? Were they hunted ?
3:30 your relationship to the dive, the symmetry of the dive, and the stage of the dive make this shot one of the best to me.
Two things captivate me when kayak fishing, Osprey hunting and Bald Eagle vocalization. I can watch an Osprey hunt for hours. They will fly over us only after catching a fish, almost like they are showing off their kill. They are amazing creatures.
I live on a canal in Gulf Shores , Al. Recently an Osprey has been hanging around in the tall pines. I desperately hope to see him in action, so far no dice! Your photography and narration are awesome. Thanks for sharing your talents
Thanks
Simply astounding! I don't know which is more riveting, the photography or the narrative!
Thanks
I didn’t even mean to click play, but once it started I got hooked. Incredible photos but equally excellent storytelling!
As an amateur photographer who has visited the Space Coast, great job on production of the Osprey Story and magnificent shots. I especially like your addition of settings with images for us who try to replicate your work. For anybody wondering if travel to Mark's Workshop, My answer is a definitive yes. Not only is he there to tutor and guide but the area is second to none for the birds and species. Thanks for your efforts in sharing Mark.
Thanks
All I can say is WOW, your story telling and your captures are some the best I ever seen. Is like watching National Geography.
Thanks
Can't tell you how many times I've fished the shores of Rhode Island without catching a single fish all while watching Osprey outfish me, and all my fancy gear, all day long. They are amazing at what they do. I only wish I was as successful at fishing at an Osprey. Awesome video, thanks.
Lol that's funny.
Growing up, the Osprey was my favorite bird. Thanks for sharing your amazing photography and narration about one of nature's most skilled hunters.
Absolutely no doubt one of my favorite birds of prey behind a bald eagle or red tail hawk. The nests that they make are just mind-boggling
I never get tired of watching your videos of Osprey, you captured some amazing shots. I can easily see why you like them so much. Great video.
Thanks!
Great video and narration. I am myself a photographer and my favorite bird is the osprey, so I really understand your joy. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks
Amazing! - Each catch a unique accomplishment. I've seen an osprey screaming at his parents circling above. It was dusk, he looked down at the river, smack! He came up with a fish and circled around and around with everyone cheering! He was so proud of his first catch.
I’ve been watching osprey in Wales & Scotland for about 8 years……magnificent birds!!🇬🇧🌻🇬🇧
Great photography! Thanks! Here's an Osprey story for you. Many years ago in the Florida Keys, several sailboats were built at "the House of Goats and Boats." One resident named his sloop the Osprey. When it came time to step on the mast, a big party was gathered at a local harbor to help assist him. As soon as Bill hanked on the sails and the boat came to life, we heard a bird shriek above and looked up just as an Osprey landed on the top of the mast! As the flotilla of sailboats set course for the Florida Bay, the Osprey took to flight with another shriek and led us sailors to open water, flying just ahead in the lead. It was a magic time.
That's pure magic. Awesome thanks for sharing
As a true Osprey enthusiast, I thoroughly enjoyed your video. Keep them coming!
My wife and I have been watching a live stream from Scotland where a breeding pair of Osprey laid 3 eggs. The live stream is doing a wonderful job of educating us with how these birds live. I have just watched your video, and I am truly impressed with your workmanship and dedication, well done. Back to our nest and we have 3 weeks before the chicks fledge, we are waiting in excitement for that day to come.
Your story telling is like a poem/narration of a movie and I am in awe because it’s what keeps me enthralled. I’m a new fan of yours
I know these were taken over some time, but that is an amazing collection of images. But I think the most unique is the one with the bird and the lure. Unbelievable! Great commentary as always Mark.
I like how you narrated this piece. Stumbled on this as I like nature docs, well done man.
How humans are degrading themselves: how are those stuff on the arms? Disgusting.
I live along the Columbia River in Wenatchee Washington and have observed this a few times. It makes me smile all day long when I spend time watching them. We have nests up and down the river.
WOW 😯❤! what an amazing work you`ve done! ...I met the Osprey this summer in Sanible Island for vacation. I was absolutely captivated by this amazing Bird, and had a chance to see him rise up form the ocean next to me in the water with a fish in his claws. I found very interesting that this bird could stay hours fix on the top of a tree and do nothing too. Would love to meet them again...I'm from Chile .
That was awesome man. I watch osprey off the coast of Maryland all summer. They're m master assassins. I'm in Southwest FL currently and they are everywhere here! Always that distinguishable whistle chirp above somewhere.
The amount of time and patience you have spent to shoot these pics and videos are amazing... Great work. Love to see more fro your channel.
My new favorite bird. Can't beat that air/water/hunting combination!
Beautiful Bird of Prey! I admire your artistry & the appreciation of the hunt & challenges this bird faces, Nice narration without over indulgence.
Thanks
Man, your narrative is just as good as your photography. I wouldn’t be able to say more than ten words about the birds’ actions. Great job!
Amazing video and thank you for sharing. Photographed my share of ospreys many times and it is always an incredible experience to say the least. I am still yet to catch one grabbing the fish out of the water, but in all do time. Great video and information Mark.
I am a new subscriber from the UK. I live in London miles away from ospreys but I had the joy of seeing the Arkaig and Loch of the Lowes osprey family last year and since then they're my favourite raptor. I've never seen them before. Looking at the live cam at Loch Arkaig is just great. I didn't see any in flight over water so I was glad to be able to watch your wonderful footage and enjoy your narration. The osprey, like all raptors are under protection here in the UK and they have made an amazing comeback after having been hunted to extinction in the last century here. Since 1970s their numbers have increased. Now I look forward to more videos from you. Thank you.
Oh, I also love your enthusiasm, the way you weave the story, & your deep respect for Osprey.
From Australia congratulations on a great presentation - Well captured Mark
Your work is off the charts So good........ So good
Very few can appreciate this exceptional work of art, the filming takes more than we can ever thought .. Only you can appreciate your work more than anyone else
Overlooking the lake from my deck watching a couple of osprey fish for their families in nests 400 yards away. Searched the Internet for closer imagery and stumbled onto your wonderful video and engaging descriptions. Among the best nature videos I've seen.
My favorite images were actually the videos where you can see the osprey hovering and searching the waters below. You don't get to see that so often, and it gives you an idea how much energy they expend fishing. Second favorite was the pompano episode! Wonderful photos and videos of my favorite bird too! Thanks -
Found you via KZhead Creators Hub Podcast. Really, really well done. Any bird photography I’ve ever done has been unplanned and accidental. I have lots of respect for those who do it well. Thanks for sharing your experiences and tips.
Thanks!!
This is some of the best photography I've ever seen. Up here in Montana there is clear blue lake where Osprey and Bald Eagles do all this every day and I love watching them. You can see the aqua blue refection under their wings and their flying fish.
I loved the story telling almost as much as the Osprey photos! I am one that has sat hour upon hour watching the nest cams and learned so very much about the Osprey and that those that write the books don't really have a clue. The male does a lot more then bring fish to the nest. He brings fish and then as walked on and taken a beak to the females feathers in the wings, all in attempts to get her up off of the eggs, so he can have a chance to incubate the eggs. I know not as exciting but the antics on the nest are awesome and would love to see you photograph some. The male feeding chicks, and has also fed the female while she is incubating the eggs. It is all totally amazing!
You must be one of the best bird photographers in the world. Your work is extraordinary.
Thanks
Dude, your pics and videos are the most enjoyable in the youtube jungle. And the way you narrate is part of the enjoyment. Thank you !!
Thanks so much
The most kindest and innocent bird of prey and predetor like a Dove. The OSPREY 😇❤️💕
My backyard is a small lake and I always marvel at the sight of Osprey fishing. Although not always successful, it is amazing the power this bird has to be able to lift itself and its prey from the water. Great video!
Agreed. They are amazing birds.
Superb photography and narration...I am now so proud of the Osprey, being from Colorado we sport a nice handful of raptors and I spent 5 years of my life in complete awe of the raptors of Colorado as a Falconer...great video, there was one shot behind the Osprey that blew my mind...8:06. I wish you all the best..I got to see more!
A brilliant osprey a brilliant photography. Even in high tech era human unable to copy animals brilliant.
Sir, I've been filming birds for over 30 years on professional projects and have wanted to get the perfect video sequence of an Osprey catch. I've come close, but always a small focus misjudge, a slight overshoot of camera movement as the bird hits the water, less than ideal light, ugly background...you get it. Never all elements coming together at one time for me. I realize, too, how much MORE of your efforts have been focused on this amazing bird. That being said, your work is THE ultimate I've ever seen of the Osprey and the passion when you speak of it is stunning. I'm so glad to know there are folks like you who mainly focus on getting the ESSENCE of one species. Bless you, Mark.
Thanks for the kind words
I love to try capturing these birds in flight and fishing but I have never come close to the incredible photos that you showed here. Your narration is just great and keeps a person's total attention. Fantastic images and interesting narration! Thanks for sharing these awesome images!
As a fly fisherman in the Rockies, I love and am in awe of Osprey. Seeing them fish is always a welcome distraction - they are undeniably better fishers than me. Though we compete for the same fish, I release my catch; osprey cannot afford that indulgence.
As a an serious hobby photographer, I can appreciate some of those high speed shots which are nothing short of spectacular! I use the D810 so I know you have put some blood sweat and tears as well as cash into your craft. A job well done!
Dear Mark, your video is absolutely brilliant! You are awesome ...gifted by God to make happy the hearts of people who love prey birds...Thanks a lot and Congratulations!💖💝💜💕❤💓
Thanks
Happy to see an individual displaying his great, original work. Well done!
There are osprey in Michigan. Good to see they are plentiful. Your pictures are incredible. Thanks for making this video.
It would be better if they were plentiful somewhere else. Oh how i hate these birds!
@@tmo4330 Ok garbage.
@@kahanuermeyas-tulu4056 I hate them because they eat too many fish out of my 2 acre lake. They eat $10.00 per day of stocked trout per bird.
Photos do not do justice to this Majestic bird , Ospreys are an awesome sight to see , I was one of the fortunate ones who had an off spray fish and eat on a pine tree across the street from my house , An Osprey landed on a pine tree in Port Charlotte Florida eating what was fished out of the water canals , about a hundred yards away from behind my house I used a small rifle scope and try to look at it from in between the branches of an oak tree , looking at me moving its head up and down a couple times determining that I was a threat of some sort immediately took off , on the next occasion it landed again on the same tree ... I took my camera out and started taking pictures and filming it , for some reason I was tolerated and it just sat there eating its meal , it was an amazing sight to see .
Impressive photography combined with brilliant captivating natural history storytelling! I learn so much from the photographic techniques you share and the great stories you tell while doing so. Thank you so much. I spent six years in Grand Teton National Park as a U.S. Park Ranger , Park Manager and wildlife photography enthusiast. My family and I would raft the Snake River almost weekly spring and summers watching Osprey and Bald Eagles catch fish, river otters playing along the river banks, watching families of ducks and geese and eagles growing up and occasionally have beaver slap their tails at our oars to show their displeasure with our intrusion into their home territory. Osprey are truly amazing and you have captured their nature so well in your photography! Thank you for sharing your talented photography and your knowledge of these amazing creatures with us so we can become both better photographers and wise stewards of these wonderful and amazing natural treasures. Thank you ! John Krambrink
Thank you for watching and taking the time to post this well written comment!
I came here thinking ospreys looked silly. I leave in complete awe and amazement at this incredible creation I now realize the osprey is. Thank you!
Holy shit...that photo of the bass is absolutely incredible!!!
Great shots.. By far my favorite is the focused head on straight down dive at 11:00 min.
Blimey. Ospreys, eagles, sharks and alligators - what a day that must have been for you Mark! Keep the photos and story telling coming, this is one of the very best wildlife photography channels on YT.
Incredible photos. I live in Louisville, KY and am 83. I have never tried to take pics of birds, and certainly no osprys. They must be very rare in this area. However, I was told there was an ospry nest on a 60-foot tower between a very small lake and the Ohio River. I followed the directions and finally found the nest, but no bird. I waited and waited and waited and finally an ospry flew in an landed on the tower of a crossmember next to the nest. It had a partially eaten fish in one talon. I waited and waited again and the bird jumped into the nest, then poked its head out not moving. I waited and waited again, and just as I was about to pack up and leave, the ospy took off in flight directly above me. I had already put up my pod, gimbal mount and D500 with my 200-500 lens. Of course, I didn't have time to set up my pod rig again, so I simply began shooting handheld. I had my camera's focus on the two back-buttons like you had instructed in your video, but I had practiced using them only for a short period in my backyard. Needless to say, I was pushing buttons, zooming in and out everywhichwaybutloose, while the bird circled the tower. I finally was able to get the ospry in my viewfinder and I frantically continue to push one button and then the other. In post, I was very happy with my still pics of the bird on the tower, but quite disappointed with it in flight. I never got a focus that satisfied me, but there was no doubt what the bird was. I go into long detail here, just to let you know how much I now appreciate your wonderful skill and talent. I shall try again, but with only one or two birds to practice on, my attempts may be few and far between. Keep up the fabulous work. I subscribed several months ago and always look forward to your issuing another video.
WELL There you go Osprey a wonderful 📷🤳pictorial of them catching fish 👍quite enjoyed this , eyes wide open😳
Spectacular photography with excellent story telling. You get it done Mark!
Thanks
saw my first osprey at cape cod Massachusetts near the ocean. Didn’t get good pictures but it was better than nothing. I love birds, thanks for this video it was amazing... never knew how badass the osprey was!
Just saw this film today and I was absolutely blown away by the photography here - Mark, you must have so much patience and skill as these shots are truly astounding. Rarely have I seen imagery that is so utterly compelling and beautiful at the same time. Truly magnificent.
That's some of the best Osprey video and photo I've ever seen. Great work.
Thanks!
Hi Mark . Another just breathtaking video! So cool to see the Ospreys. I live on a lake that the Ospreys and other birds live and feed on. I feed the songbirds and hummingbirds. They are always glad to have a easy and good meal . My point ? You are welcome to come here for a while and see why I love my home . Georgia is my home . The things that come into view are just really cool. Come on by and join the fun . Thanks again.
Sounds like a great place
Outstanding photography but much more. Your narration tells a story and brings the pictures to life. Your passion and enthusiasm is plain the see and those photos - stunning.
OMG I am already in love with just the narration on the videos! let alone the actual photography work
Thanks!
Ok, so it's a tie. Mark's monologs are every bit as good as his photographic moment in time records of the epic arial battle of survival of the fittest. ~ your neighbor.
I think you have a wonderful life , enjoy as we learn to appreciate wildlife, thank you.
Hey man, what an awesome collection of magnificent pictures. Having lived in very closed proximity to a pair of Ospreys, I also became very fond of those birds. Seeing them dive for a mullet just a few yards away is truly a spectacle. I'll tell you about another bird that really struck my attention, the belted kingfisher. Although not as majestic as the osprey, it's tenacity and cleverness is a sight to behold. Anyhow, thank you for such wonderful presentation.
WOW. I loved watching your video, especially when the bird did a "double." Special props to that big amberjack catch. But what is most amazing to me is how this bird manages to take off with it's dinner, while getting it's entire body off the surface of the water too, a seemingly impossible feat.
My exact thoughts, simply stunning engineering to be able to take off wet with a quarter of its weight in talon.

Mark, you would love seeing our California Osprey action here in San Diego. I've been fortunate to watch Ospreys catch and fly off with Corbinas, some almost as large as the bird himself. The beach at Del Mar has a few resident Osprey who are amazing predators.
Just found this site and am totally impressed! Great Great photo's. I too love the Osprey's. But then, I'm a falconer and I love ALL species of birds of prey! Keep up the great work!
Those shots of the osprey plummeting down to a target are utterly stunning-the finned prey evading hunters with archetypal fishtailing motion, the winged predator locked on a geotropic trajectory bound to obliquity that’s axiomatically cross-calculated for both horizontal and vertical axes, talons hyper-extended anteriorly and, in a through-line design, wings hyper-extended posteriorly, predation gaze laser-focused and corrected for sub-surface water-refraction, irides constantly adjusting for reduction of both ambient and reflective glare, lenses constantly accommodating for distance between object of regard with telescopic zoom as stereopsis monitors periphery and perfects the shifting lock on the bull’s-eye, and-!whirrrhaPLONK!- the talons reflexively crucify the prey exactly 7.7 seconds after target identification and several nanoseconds before the predator’s brain can register the baropressure of collision, the sensation of wetness or thermoception of water, and instantly prey immobilization is determined, triggering proprioceptive recovery from plunge and conscious egress directing wings to power out through viscosity index, eliding to escape velocity, to nearly controlled flight by muscular ascent and final completion of a hunting foray geometrically demonstrating an inverted catenary arc, as executed by a raptor possessed of a perfected strategy and a particularly elegant conviction, yet returning to her roost with no whiff of pomp, accomplishment or a conscious self. This avian species’ anatomy and physiology, silent knowledge of orbital mechanics and ancient, sequenced instincts all animate and vindicate the last, epigrammatic line of a book published in 1859-“There is grandeur in this view of life.”
I like yr description of the hawkish🦅 act of mission accomplished 🤣
❤ GREAT FILMING OF THESE AWESOME OSPREYS' . IN SANTEE S.C. AND LAKE MARION THERE ARE ALOT OF OSPREYS. I JUST DISCOVERED YOUR FILMING OF EAGLES & OSPREY TODAY...ON JULY 4TH 2023. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK. GOD BLESS YOU & THESE GREAT EPIC FISHING BIRDS. HAPPY 4TH OF JULY. THIS IS COOL TO SEE HOW DETERMEND THESE BIRDS ARE. AND HOW THEY DON'T LET A FISH BITE STOP THEM FROM KEEPING & EATING THE LIZARD FISH IT CUAGHT. LOVE & PR❤YERS.
Wow Mark this is my favorite video and I know I have seen them all, but just like you Osprey are always on the top of my list to photograph because they are so amazing in what they do. I love all the photos and some of my favorites are the Eagle stealing the fish to the Osprey with the fish surfing on it. Not sure how closely you are I know you big lens but wow those photos are so crystal clear. Thanks for sharing and taking us into the wildlife world.
I was able to get very close to some of these birds. The big lens helps but that close proximity helps too!
Thanks for the time and effort in filming these Osprey.
You are the absolute meistro of osprey photography and storytelling. Congratulations! WOW!
Wow, those are some truly incredible images. That front shot with the bird focused on his entry into the water, legs extended and talons gaping, dear Lord please don't let me ever see something like that heading my way!
I have to pick every photo. Ospreys are super cool.
The pictures are AMAZING!!!! And your story telling is too!!!! I was unaware of my own surroundings as I watched and listened!!! I am a new subscriber today!!!!
I stumbled across this video and sat mesmerized with (literal) tears in my eyes at how beautiful these phots are and how awesome it must have felt when you reviewed the photos from each excursion. Great job doesn’t even begin to express the Kudos you deserve.
Without a doubt, one of the best videos and photos of the Osprey I have ever seen. Superb photography!
I think this is the most deserved like I’ve ever given! So much work, so much time and talent was invested in this video! Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful work with us.
Thank you for the awesome comment. ♥️
I’ve shared this video with my daughters and they loved it as well ;) so thanks again and keep up the good work!
I did Mark's Florida workshop last year and got some great Osprey shots (one with a lizardfish!) among other species. His videos are fantastic but the experience of spending a day with Mark doing what he does best and capturing some shots of your own is very special. It is like a backstage pass to the magic. I've signed up for Blue Cypress in April and may do the Osprey workshop in late December too. Highly recommended. ... and the talon reference to the dinosaurs made me think Velociraptor - Ospriraptor? - Velosprey? lol
Thanks for the kind words Kevin. I know we had a good time and I have to go for the Velosprey!
I agree, as I also spent two days on Mark's workshop and what a fantastic experience! I have so many great photos and memories of our experience.
mark hold bird tour?
Surely on the bucket list. Got some decent shot in OBX then I review Mark’s. Truly a master!
I may be incorrect, but I think we call a Lizardfish in Australia a Flathead.
I live near a river where osprey abounds and believe me that it is very difficult to take photos of that quality. You certainly never know when they will take a nosedive ... Excellent and highly worthy photographic work ..!
