Hello from August. It's still weird.
no, it's weird to hear them. And jarring.
I know, right? 16th Aug 2020.
August 22nd and it’s weird
Now in August, still holds true, which is a shame, I was really looking forward to the virus dying in April.
Rewatching these at the end of 2022, is like rewatching a horror movie from the beginning. So terrifying and surreal. Making sure it actually happened. Last two years felt like the strangest Nightmare.
I almost feel like a bad person because I genuinely had a refreshing time for a marginally better part of 2020 because being non-STEM, my education didn't really asked a lot of me, I wasn't preparing for any sort of exam and on top of that, everything was going fine because the past few years before 2020 were not really great. For the first time, I felt that I wasn't left behind and could relate to others. Not a bit more than 2 years later and I was devastated in June 2022. I wish I could go back but that'd be not a good thing.
Don't forget seeing people dismiss the danger, be arrogant we have it covered, not take any precautions.. didn't need hindsight to know we could have prevented a lot of the worst of it if trump disband the response team, bring everyone back from abroad at once with no safety measures taken..
@@Marksman_12no I feel the same way. As a person in India, the educational system is so stupid and so demanding and it evaluates you on a bunch of things in such a way that even by some miracle it's useful, you've lost all interest in it. For the first few months I was just scared and disappointed that I couldn't do anything to help people, but it was the best year of my life after I realised to just focus on my own life. It was the happiest time I ever had because online school was a breeze and I could devote all my time to music. I just wish it had happened during tenth grade because everything came crashing down in 2022. I also wish we would go back to that time, just the lockdown part, because I would give anything for that peace back in my life.

Fun Fact: John Oliver voluntarily fled the UK's "free" national health care in favor of the US's "terrible no good very bad healthcare."
@@almadrical8995 even *more fun* is the fact that healthcare had nothing to do with his choice to move to the US. The chance to have his own show was the driver of his decision to move to the US. I cannot tell you how relieving it is for someone to say "be a bit scared," rather than saying "don't panic." When you tell people not to panic, it can actually increase panic. But when you say "be a little scared, and here are some things you can do to protect yourself," that helps to manage expectations and promote healthy behavior. Brilliant writing! Although the dabbing at the end made me cringe.
*DON'T PANIC*
@Ojibwa62 x There's not gonna be a vaccine in a few months. It would be done in a year at the earliest. And the coronavirus is basically a pandemic now so I'm pretty sure it's gonna be around for way longer. There is no way it will end in spring.

It’s coming up on a year since this video first aired. Almost half a million Americans have died and it’s crazy seeing just how naive we were a year ago.
It’s over half a mil death now. The point is Americans has been misguided from the beginning so much that subsequent damage cannot be controlled. How could you just wash your hands when the disease is respiratory one that spread through mouse and nose? Why don’t you advice people to stay at home and wear mask from the beginning? I know this is going to be bad when my professor told us to have fun going out and wash hands before spring break. Back then I know we were fucked
@@James-yz4cc I know it's just a typo but "through mouse and nose" really made me chuckle
@@Waterspons Not gonna lie it does look hilarious
@@James-yz4cc Washing your hands help because whether you like it or not, people tend to touch their faces, or bring their hands near their faces (say when you're spooning food into your mouth). Say you touch something that someone else sneezes to, for example a handle bar on a bus, or that someone sneezed to his hands, but he forgot to wash it, and he touched fruits on Supermarket (which you, unknowingly touches 20 minutes later). Washing your hands makes sure that your hand is sanitary, and when you touch your food, or scratch your nose, you didn't inhale the virus.

Omg you did not
Holy shit. Watching this now is like a fever dream. Like I went back in time to where everything went wrong. Oh my god.
Watching this after more than a year later. We all got COVID, we are in debt and my dad passed away a few days ago. I wish I could go back in time to the moment this video was recorded and tell everyone to take this more seriously. We were in lockdown, under really strict measures to prevent the disease, but we got sick anyway. It's not fair. Please, please, please be safe... Not just for you, but for everyone else.
I’m so sorry about your dad. Hope you’re healing 🖤
So sorry for your loss. Sending love from UK ❤
"It''ll disappear in April" It's May now
It's weird watching from America like other countries with considerably less GDP or even higher population density have now flattened or contained this, but America is about to get sooo much worse....

Watching this in may 2021 feels surreal. Like watching moments before a disaster and cataclysm
If this was a movie, this would be the news playing in the background before the zombie breakout. Everyone passively ignored it and look what we got.
Anyone else here after nearly two years of this...yeah...me too
Vietnamese songwriters probably contributed a lot more to solving the problem than the current american President and his cabinet
The singer of the original song cooperate with government to write the song and sing it
And now Vietnam is coronavirus-free. So....yup!
But it’s not just our problem so it shouldn’t just be us to take care of it
U r so hilarious =)) but I cant agree with u more
Because you are a pathetic loser who does what for the safety of the United States... Asshole.
As a Vietnamese, swear to god, that coronavirus music video is a trend, even my mom likes the video that she made us remember the lyrics
Lol its seriously catchy!

I really hoped the show had mentioned how expensive it is to get tested in the US for the coronavirus, and how much it may impact the effort to contain the virus compared to countries that tests people literally for free
Or how our entire economy is structured so that people have to go to work because they have no savings or social safety net and can't self-quarantine for their own safety (or the safety of others).
I completely agree. One forcibly quarantined man was given a bill for 4k after he finished. They also aren't talking about the terribly likely very high undercounts of deaths
How much is it ?
And how much we'll be forced to pay for the vaccine when it will given free to people in every other country.
Wait, is that true? Huh, the USA really is a third world country in some regards

It's so strange rewatching these coronavirus videos now
One more thing about Vietnamese healthcare system: all corona victims have been tested and treated for free. Quarantined patients are also given free daily food and necessities.
And more people died at waiting the public health service inside the hospital than people dying over dengue fever. Its also in its third reform and they gave up on several estabilished free healthcare procedures puting them on private insurances. Which the average is roughly 60% of the average vietnamese income whereas the american counterpart is literally 8%
Same here in Italy, honestly I do not understand how the u.s. will be able to face the crisis with their health system... Be safe guys!
@@rickroll9705 You have no idea what non-subsidized private health insurance costs in the USA...NOT 8 %. My self-employed family would pay over $2000/month for health insurance, no government subsidy, and annual deductible over $10,000. Out of pocket + premium before the insurance pays for medical care? Well over $25,000 for the year. Middle class is getting screwed financially in USA at this time.
@@walli7754 This is why we need universal health care in the U.S. Health care is a human right, not a commodity that only a wealthy few can afford.
@@rickroll9705 LOL where are you from? I live in Vietnam and though the hospitals are overloaded, we still get full treatments on our USD 30 annual health insurance. People die of dengue fever here mostly because they're not very well-informed of how dangerous the disease can be and decide to stay home instead of getting hospitalized.
Why does March 1st feel like it was so long ago...
RIGHT?!
@@danmurphy7373 it feels like my understanding of the time space continuum has been completely shattered, it's so unreal
March 1st was my birthday celebration, it was the happiest day in this year and it feels like it was months if not even a year ago!!
This was released a month ago. At the time there were 15 cases in the US. Today there are 265,000 in the US and 6,700 deaths. There are over a million cases worldwide, and 58,000 deaths. In just one month.
I commented somewhere how my dog "just" turned 5 on Valentine's Day, then realized I had used "just" to refer to something from 6 weeks ago, then realized that that day feels simultaneously like yesterday and an eternity ago.
Watching this in 2022 is surreal.
Here from September 2020: Over 6.4 million cases in the US and over 190k dead in US. Seeing the optimism, and the audience laughing, is so jarring and makes me sad.
Looking back on this in late April. Hooooo boy.
It isn't late April
I just farted on your comment
Watching from early May, was thinking the same... If we'd known what was coming

Claire and the rest of the BA test kitchen becoming the icons that they are, everyone loves them and rightfully so
YES
Absolutely.
Remember when we all tried to convince ourselves that it wouldn't be a big deal?
Honestly, I did the same at first (even though upon hearing the news for the first time I was like "Well that took quite some time actually since the last time there was a possible pandemic") but when I was wheeled into an operating room and had a last temperature reading which showed me to have a raised body temperature and I saw 3 doctors looking at each other with a face saying something like "Oooh shit, this could mean trouble!" (everything turned out fine in the end but still, I seriously got how serious it then already was, and that was at the beginning of March 2020, 3 days before all surgeries were postponed in my country due to the increase of patients on the ICU's)
Oof watching this at the end of July with 150k deaths is... really depressing
Hello from beginning of September. It’s worse.
