"No politician in history has been treated worse..." Meanwhile somewhere in the afterlife, Julius Caesar, his semi-transparent body covered in dozens of knife wounds looks up from his paper. He stares straight ahead, unblinkingly for several long moments before straightening the newspaper out and returning to his reading in silence.

“What would a Trump impeachment look like?” Well then that aged well
Except for the part that turns out, nothing happened, the guy got impeached and then still in power
Serence Frostbite did you even watch any of this LWT episode or have a vague understanding of politics. He was impeached. He doesn’t have to be removed from power. It was unlikely that he was going to be removed in the first place. When the story was written it was under the impression that impeachment won’t, but should, happen. It did and we know how it turned out
@@FrostyWheats point is, he was impeached....then.......what? he's still in power, he's still screwing things up, still causing people headache. This "impeachment" thing is having as much effectiveness as parents telling their kid "You're not going to live under my roof anymore" and then just let the kid stay their anyway. As in, it does nothing. What's the big deal about something that does nothing?
Serence Frostbite because of the precedent it sets for future congress members. Because it shows that he did indeed do wrongdoing. Because it brings his wrongdoing into the public spotlight. Because in the future we’ll look back at the senators that voted against removal from office and recognize that it was the wrong thing to do. You have a very clear lack of understand of what impeachment is. Impressive
@@FrostyWheats it's also showing that "yes this guy did the wrong thing, we all acknowledge it, and the senators that voted against the removal from office were wrong......anyway we decided not to do anything about so future generation gonna have hindsights lol" Anyway my friend, in my country, when a government official is busted for a crime, they lose their position, get fined or jail time depends on the severity of the crime. Guess what? That also shows they did the wrong thing, brings it to the public, and future generations still gonna be able to look back and say "yeah that was the wrong thing to do" So yeah, I don't have any understanding about what impeachment is, because that's not a thing in my country, and so far from your reasoning, I still don't see why it's even a thing to begin with. Why not punish the wrongdoing now? Is American generations later just decide not to learn from this if you guys punish him now?

Since Fox news needed to fill a 24 hour news cycle and saw an opportunity to say "look at this young uppity liberal we have as a president!"
Not calling John Oliver slanted in his coverage(/s), but I'm pretty sure the big complaint against obama at this point was $3 trillion in unfunded spending the details of which the White House was refusing to give out until after the bill was passed. In fact nearly one hundred billion dollars of that money disappeared without a trace over the following two years. Not Dijon mustard.

Sorry Obama wasn't contemplating boasting confidential material to the Russians to fill his ego. I guess it never even crossed his mind to do something so stupid.
"And I say this with great" *hesitates* "surety."
Surety is a word.
But still the incorrect usage of the word.
You all realise it's the hesitation before saying surety that the original comment is mocking. I am 100%... um.... sure of that.
Because Trump is known for his coherence?
James F the commenters above seems to have missed the point
Oh no, when I was in the military, I used to sleep on top of the sheets to maintain the hospital corners 😂
so much has happened since 2017 i honestly didn't remember any of this happened until i rewatched this video
My mom has been a 911 dispatcher my entire life.... I still to this day cannot get her to share some of her good stories with me in detail because she's prohibited by law to release certain information. This is my own mother, on the topic of 911 calls. *The American President cares less about code name level security than my mom does calls from people with stuff stuck in their ass*
How do you know the stuck thing in their asses ? i am joking
*former President
@@oxymoron02come back this time next year and it’ll probably “president-elect” since people forget history at an astonishing rate…
@@Fetidaf With the quantity of lawsuits and indictments I'm not sure, I'd sure hope he doesn't get to run again when there is this much evidence of wrongdoing. That goes for any candidate tbf, I wouldn't want a president to enter office just to pardon themselves and then fart around for 4 years.
@@bararobberbaron859 he wouldn’t be able to pardon himself for state crimes but being a criminal doesn’t keep you from holding office unless it’s for treason (which he should charged with too imo but whatever) I’m just kinda holding out hope one of the other candidates will cause a rift in the party; splitting their vote enough to make a difference to keep Biden in office but I’m not too confident that’ll work. I’m also thinking that he’s strengthening his support with the far right but losing all the centrists which will also push people towards other candidates… Idk… I think it’ll be a close race sadly and wouldn’t be surprised if Trump wins
America: "The worlds most crazy reality series"
Metrosexual mustard........enough said.
Watching this in 2023. I legitimately don't remember this.
It’s so strange to see this now, several years and impeachments later.
I'm fucking scared. Usually Oliver ends the segment with any solution or atleast a suggestion. None was found here.
Ahmed Sherrif Yeah, it was more like "this is bad. Look at 8 years ago. Those were the good old days....". Man. I'm glad I'm on this side of the pond...
In the 5 or so extra minutes he had dancing penguin muppets at the end. It was much needed after this is excellent but true episode.
Short of revolution, there's not much else you -can- do, aside from the usual: keep the pressure up on politicians, try and convince family if you have any in swing states to not vote R while this charlatan is representing the party. Unfortunately, for many, it's less about making the better choice, and more about making sure the "other side" doesn't win. I know people get sick of hearing it, but it's even more true now than ever: the midterms coming up are *incredibly important*. Not -JUST- because of the possibility of being able to impeach Trump, but because of the census in 2020, which is also the time when district lines are going to be redrawn - ie. gerrymandering season. Want to see Trump lose by over 10 million votes this time and still win the electoral college? 'cause that's probably what'll happen if R's are allowed to further gerrymander the system.
Ahmed Sherrif just one....kick him out
Why can't there be a solution for this that doesn't threaten to destabilize the entire world? It seems like waiting out these 4 long years until the presidency ends is the only option, but that's if we even get that far
What would a Trump impeachment look like? "Probably involves thousands of Muslims celebrating in New Jersey" I'm dead.
Brandon Gary HAAAA
Brandon Gary millions of every type of people
Brandon Gary I came back just to laugh at this again. High five, sir.
Dorian Gray - Well they aren't a global majority. And I mean even that's like saying only Han Chinese men are the majority. They aren't even a majority. What you said is stupid.
even when
4 years later, we are still asking those same questions, John. It’s insane!
"This is the worst charge made against a sitting President!" "Worst charge against a sitting President so far!"
Please don't blame those of us from Indiana for Pence. We didn't like him as governor.
Matt Bentley im gonna be going to college there next year 😳
Matt Bentley So you got rid of him and now the ENTIRE country has to suffer! Cruel shoes.
Matt Bentley there is some blame because you elected him.
Matt Bentley I'm in Indiana....that didn't stop 70% of the voters from choosing him.
Matt Bentley but the state did elect him...
if Trump actually get impeached, he's just gonna gloat as usual... "greatest impeachment procedures ever, we got tremendous ratings, I'm the best at get impeached."
I could actually see him doing that, which is ridiculous in its own right.
Maybe 1.5 million people will actually show up this time.
bjelar, lmao...now that's funny
"ive got impeachments - the best impeachments"
Honestly I think he has the capability of being sad and we just don't see it, because what other face can he put on?
Who knew we’d be looking back at this, thinking “those were the good ole days”
Oh 2017, my sweet summer child, you were so young
"I'm a Christian, a conservative, and a Republican in that order," Where does being an American stand?
Good question.
American? How about a human being first?
well, you dropped a potential 30 IQ points (minimal) when you claimed to be Christian...now take away another 50 for being a Republican and you don't have the brain power to send signals to your feet and legs, so you are no longer standing at all.
How about Human. We live in a global society with Human level issues. If we'd all out Human at the top of the list, we'd be better off.
Fourth?
I'm a Christian, but holy shit, why do we let people make policy based on religious beliefs? It's a huge conflict of interest. If you can't separate religion and public policy in your mind, you need to reccuse yourself, at least for that policy decision. And I would respect the hell out of that. I have some beliefs that may not be compatible with secular public policy. But if I want those beliefs to be represented, I go to church, not my senator.
Christians have conflicts of interests toward each other too. There aren't 100+ denominations for nothing.
Because religion is easier to distort to one's advantage than objective fact.
I hope there is a hell so you can rot in it.
Ditto. Everyone has the right of freedom of religion but that doesn't mean it should be used as basis for laws that effect all people of the U.S.A. I mean...I don't want the Government in my church or my church in my Government offices.
@@Tadesan Who are you talking to?
I clicked on this video, realized it was 5 yrs old, and immediately went "oh god"
If Jared was a spice, he'd be flour.
Am I the only one really freaked out by the "What you think is happening is not really happening" line? It sounds like something you'd hear in 1984, with doublethink...
Yeah that line chilled me. The gas-lighting is unreal.
Try actually watching the whole video, not 2,5 seconds of it...
I have, and I still think it's some 1984 style gas-lighting. Don't mistake our intelligence, HeaveNStreams, because many of us a quite in touch.
DipDodgeDuck yea, that sounded like someone read 1984 and didn't really understand how any of it worked, so they tried to used double think to convince everyone of their world views.
Taurendruid7 That was exactly what I was thinking xD. HAHAHAH Man, glad I'm not the only one.
The sad fact is; impeachment of not, he'll go down in history as president. At which, we should be disgusted.
i would argue that it would at least serve as an example for future generations to follow, but if there's two things that the human race has consistently proven to be physically incapable of, they're 1) knowing jack shit about history, and 2) learning from mistakes
The reaction to him will lead America to future greatness though, so perhaps it is worth it
nonsolumarmis i find that unlikely. half the country is still supporting whatever he does, and the fact that he keeps getting away with everything means that people are going to start using the same techniques
Yeah. Learning from this period would require a people who value knowledge, fact and personal erudition as virtues instead of inconvenient things that get in the way of winning.
the word is ASHAMED, not disgusted, The REST of the world is disgusted.
It’s now 2024 and I remember none of this. It’s been lost in time to a sea of awful.
Tell me about it.
Watching in 2022 feels like I'm watching a show from an alternate universe
"Metrosexual mustard" It's stuff like this that makes John Oliver the best.
Why was that even being covered?
Boognish baby
