I watched when they first fought... and I have been following their trajectories since... and I knew --- if a very big, very strong, elite wrestler in Usman, 28 year-old and physically peaking at the time they first fought .... could NOT PHYSICALLY maul a lanky Leon who, then, had nothing but his striking (no serious wrestling, no serious TDD, no elite BJJ, etc) --- that it's a matter of time before Leon would out maneuver Usman. Unlike all these 98% MMA fighters and 99% of the fans (who all regurgitated each other's silly "I think" or "I know, 'cuz I trained with Usman" lines)... I knew Usman STILL had the strength and wrestling assets to dominate over Leon but by the time of their second fight, a peaking 30 year old Leon likely WOULD find a way to out maneuver Usman (who, 35+ was slowing down, with bad knees, too). Of course, I didn't know the win would be a Shadow Realm visit by Usman, at the last minute; but I was fairly sure Leon would win. After their second fight, I was even more sure a 36 year-old Usman wasn't reclaiming the belt, even though over 70% if the USUAL MMA fighters still said Leon was "just lucky" with that head shot and Usman would just dominate him again & reclaimed the belt. I think Jack Della Madallena was one of the few to say, unequivocally, "Usman's time was past" in their third fight. Anyway, I said the same thing in the Leon-Colby fight: if a bigger, taller, equally good wrestling in Usman --- who has one-punch KO, something Colby doesn't have ---- couldn't out maneuver a prime 31 year-old Leon, Colby's chances were even less than Usman's chances (which was around 7%). But from Bo Nickal and his side kicks to 70% of these USUAL SUSPECTS were giggly sure the D1 would "just do whatever he wants to Leon..." It's so silly and tragic to see many people who actually know MMA --- being actual fighters, some very elite ---- having so little ability to understand & to analyze the sport they excel in ... from an objective angle. And Henrcy Cejudo and the Weasel guy are among the worst predictors. Triple C got all the Usman Leon II, III, and Leon Colby fights wrong. The Weasel got both the Dustin-Conor II & III wrong, all the Charles-Chandler, Charles Dustin, Charles Gaethje, and Charles Islam fights wrong, all the Leon Usman and Leon Colby fights wrong.
