      @user-gj9mk5km6d@user-gj9mk5km6dАй бұрын
    • This would be big especially because the Bambu printers are criticized for wasting so much filament during the nozzle cleaning procedure. They'd address the criticism and could upsell customers on another product.

    • The problem with recycling is the customer is likely to mess things up (using various brands into one blend, or even multiple filament types etc). Then when it doesn’t flow properly during a print theyll be mad at the recycler and bambu etc.

  • As far as I see it, the only 2 worth considering are the A1 and P1S. If you are newer to printing, don't need an enclosure, or are only printing PLA, go with the A1. Otherwise, go with P1S. The A1 mini and P1P are too close in price to the other 2 and don't make sense given big feature jumps. As for the X1C, it is too expensive for not enough of a feature jump. The biggest feature difference imao is the lidar, which is only useful if a print is not going well, which from my experience is a rare occurrence on Bambu printers. The touch screen is really not needed with the app, and sure, the camera is a bit better, but again, not worth the price hike.

    @linkgannon4560@linkgannon4560Ай бұрын

    • I have an x1c and broadly speaking, I agree. I don't use the phone app, so I like the proper screen. Apart from that, you're spot on and I'm recommending the P series (or the A if it's too expensive) to people these days.

    • I disagree. The X1C is WELL worth considering if money isn't a tight limitation - if money is an issue, honestly, the A1 mini is plenty and the P1S is awesome. But the X1C brings quality improvements that I frankly would not want to be without and I am glad I sprang for it. This is one of those areas where a few small improvements make a huge difference to the user experience - the x1c lcd screen and camera and LIDAR have a far bigger impact on the end user experience than you would expect It's like a leather car interior - do you need one? Absolutely not, it has no functional purpose. But sit inside a lancer evo and it's plastic crap interior and then a nice leather Ferrari interior, and even without starting anything, your user experience and perception of value will be vastly different. The x1c is just wonderful to use

      @Tom--Ace@Tom--AceАй бұрын
    • I can't speak from the experience of a print farm, but I do a lot of one-off prints of a huge variety. I think the LIDAR is a nearly worthless, gimmick. The Bambu printers are so utterly consistent in providing good quality prints that I just don't find it necessary. You don't need a sensor to detect problems that are never there to begin with. As for the touch screen, because I mostly do one-offs, 90% of the time, I am starting the print straight after slicing it directly from my PC. The other 10% of the time, I just use my phone, though if I really wanted, I guess I could take an old cheap tablet or smart phone, mount it to the printer, and just leave the Bambu app open constantly on it, but it seems like more hassel than it's really worth, as my phone is always nearby anyway. Also, I hate leather seats, as they leave me constantly worried that myself, my kid, my dog, etc. are going to scratch them. That's just me, though.

  • Something I notaced with the X1C Lidar is that I think it will scan the build plate where the print will be and if it notaces any residue or lack of glue (cold plate only I think ) it will look for a sutable pace to move the print on the build plate that meets those requirements. I was very confused when I started a print with the part in the center of the plate, but it printed off to the side.

  • I don't regret buying my 2 P1P'S because the P1S didn't exist when I did. BUT I wish Bambu would get the P1S kits in stock for more than 2 hours every month unless your country is listed under GLOBAL. They have run out EVERY month since September of last year. I am debating just buying a P1S combo. Might be faster at this point rather than waiting for the kits. Great Review. I personally prefer A1 and P1S just depends on a person's needs.

  • I got an A1 Mini without the AMS. Yes would prefer a bigger one but just do not have the space. There have only been a few times a bigger print volume would have been nice. After a month I have had one failed print which was my fault. It feels more like the printer attached to the PC, select what you want to print, choose any options and go. No faffing around with the actual printer. The quality of prints is very good. I have printed 1/35 scale figures and whole kits that may not be up to resin quality but really are pretty good. Not had time to play with settings or using a 0.2 nozzle.

    @glencwilson@glencwilsonАй бұрын
  • A few other notes. The A1 has remote download from the sdcard as well, and has error detection such as detecting blobbing on the nozzle and if there is a filament jam or clog. Also swapping nozzles on the A1's is absolutely super easy and cheap -- so getting 0.2 and 0.6 nozzles is very useful even on a per-print basis. They offer an extreme amount of value for their price -- but otherwise you are right about the CoreXY machines being a little better in terms of print quality. The Mini does a touch better than the full-size A1 with its smaller bed and better motion system. As far as I know, the P1's don't have any sort of failure detection. Good review.

  • Wow. My Qidi X-Plus is almost 4 yrs old and I haven’t touched it for the last 2 yrs due to other priorities. I used it to print almost all poly carb for mostly one-off engineering type applications. Did all the typical tinkering like custom extruder upgrading, camera monitor setup, filament dry box, etc and it worked pretty well if you were vigilant in avoiding fails. I was getting ready to fire it up again and just noticed these Bambu printers. I guess Bambu wasn’t even around when bought the X-Plus. Definitely light years ahead, so the X-Plus is getting retired and I’m going for a P1S with the AMS module. I don’t touch PLA, it’ll mostly be PC, ASA and ABS. I’m sure I’ll still need to be vigilant but it looks waaay more convenient

  • Printing exotic materials - the p1s can upgrade the nozzle and extruder - which is cheap and easy (about $70 total) and it can then print everything the x1c can. That higher bed temp - there’s actually no filaments Bambu supports that reach those x1c temps. In fact. After 90 degrees (which both can do) … the bed magnets get fried.

You can use that to buy multiple rolls of filament and a panda touch to have a screen similar to the X1 series. The P1S is also compatible with AMS and also has an enclosure. If you have money to burn you can go with the X1C, otherwise a P1S will be the best bang fir your bucks

  • Helpful review. Something almost no one mentions is where is best to place your printer - garage, spare room, kitchen etc etc. What is the ideal environment and does an enclosed printer give some leeway? Some filaments seem to be more demanding than others -eg TPU?

    @johnparker2636@johnparker2636Ай бұрын
    • The best place depends on what you print (materials) and yes, an enclosed printer gives you some leeway. I'd say the ideal place for complicated material is a room in which temperature is more or less constant (so no garage) without air drafts but with ventilation and where noise isn't too much of a concern (even if modern printers are relatively quiet). I'd say a spare bedroom or an office would be ideal. And some materials require or prefer an enclosed chamber.

  • I have both an X1 and a P1S, and I'd rather have two more P1Ss than the X1. Don't get me wrong-the X1 is nothing short of an incredible machine-but so is the P1S. The differences between the two models are way too minor to justify the price jump. With some know-how and part replacement, you can easily bring a P1S up to speed completely.

    @laquiete361@laquiete361Ай бұрын
    • Can you expand on that? I’m torn between getting the P1S or the X1C. I have a p1s and I love it! But I just don’t know if all of all of the “upgrades” are worth it. Bambu sells hardened steel hot end for the p1s so what else is missing? I don’t care about the camera or the screen. The lidar is another interesting feature but honestly is it worth the extra? Heck no! So what am I missing here?

      @TMcBree@TMcBreeАй бұрын
    • The 3 main reasons for the price differences are LIDAR, the MCA (processor) used and screen. I think a replacement screen is 150.from Bambu. While obviously some mark up it shows it's not cheap. LIDAR for flow calibration which and do your own research, doesn't really work. It can't be used on textured PEI plates either. I really don't think it does anything. There is a video comparing the print quality between the 2 and there are virtually zero differences in private. The MCU used in the X series is an ARM processor running a custom version of Linux for the X series of printers. The MCU used in the P series is an Esressof ESP32-S3 which can be purchased for 5 dollars on AliExpress. How Bambu got this working on it blows my mind. I built a voice assistant for Home Assistant last week with one but a 3D printer? Because of this they run different firmware and software but at the end of the day the P series runs because of price. I have no idea how much that ARM processor in the X series costs but it's a lot more. The fact that the. P series has a camera, even though it's 1fps, is an accomplishment in itself

      @JoshFisher567@JoshFisher567Ай бұрын
    • I'll just add that the hardened steel nozzle and extruder gear can be purchased and put in the P series. The difference between extruder units seems to be isolated to the boards and connections used for the thermistor, hearing pad and hotends fan. The X series has traditional JST connectors while the P series has something worse so they could combine the thermistor and hearing pad into one cable but the pins are super small. I would recommend a P1S, hardened steel extruder from either Trianglelab (AliExpress store) or from Bambu and an E3D Obxidian hotend. Not because it is slightly faster but because it results in better print quality and has a non stick diamond coating that works on repelling PETG and CF filements

How many fans and how are they controlled, what is the processor, how much memory and storage does the processor have, how many processors does it have? What is the firmware based on, is the machine running OPENSOURCE software? Legally? Are the owners allowed to maintain their machine or does the company control the machine after sale? I purchased a machine that appeared to do what I wanted just to find out it is not updateable or upgradeable, the existing, no camera, no updates to Klipper machine with no access to root will end up in the trash rather than throwing money at lawyers and yet those that fill KZhead with reviews continue to ignore the elephant in the room, information.

I do plan to eventually print more exotic materials (mainly carbon fiber) but the fact that you can purchase the hardened nozzle later and it’s an easy swap is incredible considering I just couldn’t convince myself to get the x1 for the price.

    • I went with the P1S and later bought the hardened nozzle and gears - only thing to bear in mind is pre-heating the chamber to 50oc if you're printing nylon or nylon-carbon. I found it would warp or not stick to the bed if I didn't, the High Temp Plate helped a lot too.

  • @FauxHammer not sure if you know this, but you can actually choose your filament type on the AMS for the P1P/P1S from orca slicer or bambu slicer too! There is also another company who has made a touch screen available for the P1P/P1S that can do most of the features on the X1C, even some others that are not on the X1C(its detachable and can be used in print farms for commanding multiple printers plus more but I cannot name off the top of my head). I believe that you can upgrade the P1P to have many of the high quality features that the X1C does, so if the lidar, lower quality camera, and downgraded heating capabilities for the bed are not absolutely necessary, you can end up saving around 400 to 500 dollars by only upgrading the P1P. I think it is also ESSENTIAL to go and find ways to reduce filament used during purging. there are print profiles for all bambu printer AMS types, and this builds up in the long run.

That and the fact I will have the printer in a garage with the door open half the time has made the P1S a better option personally, even though I have no current plans to print with materials like ABS, ASA etc.

But hey, if you're more into crafting practical parts that actually serve a purpose, then it's time to broaden your material horizons, my friend! Before you take anyone's word as gospel, take a peek at what they're actually printing. If it doesn't align with your printing goals, it's time to seek guidance from someone who's on the same creative wavelength as you. Remember, it's all about finding the right advice that fits your printing vibe like a snug glove!

The touch screen, lidar and camera are the remaining benefits, and for me, the substantial cost upgrade isn’t justified for many. The hardened parts upgrade will cos less than $100, so the rest of the cost is mostly quality of life improvements. Yes i know the bed and nozzle also get warmer, but unless you print PA or PC, not sure it changes much.

  • Eh in terms of use (aka parts that aren't cosmetic)the X1C is mostly just a P1S with a touch screen, better camera, lidar, and hardened nozzle and gears. Among those things the only parts that it needs over the P1S to print CF Nylon is the gears and nozzle. So unless you just need the convenience the best value is a P1S and hardened gears and nozzle. I bought the P1S , hardened hot end assembly and hardened gears. Saved 450$ and prints the exact same stuff. Touch screens cool and all but this printer is the definition of set and forget. I only open the app to check on print progress or to hit reprint. The only time I use the onboard controls is changing filament. I design my own files so im slicing and seneing files to the printer form my pc over wifi. Even if i had touch screen i wouldnt even use it.

The inertia on models as the build-plate does its best impression of a humming birds wing in 2D had me on constant high-alert for flying models that weren't designed to fly. All reinforced by the 1/2 fps camera showing a caricature of the leaning tower of Pisa. So cheers Ross, it's a P1S for me.

As far as the tools peg holders, I'm making them out of generic black PLA, I've read that PLA warps on hot days, so I'm saving the CAD files until the hot day and see how much they warp in my workshop(no AC and poorly insulated shop) Also for anyone reading, I also read that PLA warps in sunlight, so is that because the UV? or the heat? I'm going to put the PLA stuff inside a welding shot (tig/GTAW) so will that also contribute to the warping? or will it just bleach(discolor it), I ask because welding wont expose it to intense heat, but its still in cloxe proximity to my welding station. I have one of the former and two of the latter. In the 2100 hours I've got on my P1S I have never found myself wishing I'd gone for the X1C. It's advantages are marginal and don't impact print quality in the real world. And now with the Panda Touch, I don't even have to be aggravated by the little screen. The A1s are beasts. A bit slower than the P1S and not as good at printing light sabers, but the software is superior, the screen is superior, and the AMS Lite is so much less kludgy than the AMS. I want and AMS Lite for my P1S! Also, A1 doesn't have any exclusion zones on the build plate. P1S is for farms, A1 Mini is too small for my uses and the X1C is a vanity printer that I can in no way justify.
