I never fantasize about being a singer or actor ..... I dream of having the kind of talent this guy has and the ability to restore a 911 regardless what it needs. Dang that dude is crazy talented!!!!
I‘m touched. Thanks, my friend.
Yes! Unbelievable skills!!
You do have the talent. Two hands and eyes. Just start and get the experience.
This guy is greasy talented
I agree. This is a very special talent!
This is the kind of love that a classic Porsche needs. Unfortunately most owners don't have those greasy fingers. Nice!
That's how I see it!
Or all those tools! 🛠 maestro.
I sometimes think I’ve wasted a lifetime watching KZhead, but this video just made up for all the losses. Absolutely breathtaking workmanship, shown in stunning detail with the most appropriately exhilarating music. A lifetime of skill spent on the most worthy of projects and what a result.
Thanks for the feedback, mate. I think I’ve read it about 40 times and it still makes me happy.
@@GreasyFingers YOU did the hard work, i just “told it like it is” :-)
A+ on the video, A+ on the workmanship..
☺️
You are the best, you bring honor to not only Porsche but Alfa as well and in doing so you bring life again to beautiful cars that where condemned to become a CUBE... Keep the faith dear greasy fingers ...
Thank you, François. Very kind! I'll keep my fingers greasy.
Such an incredible job, so much hard work but a dedication to perfection, I am in awe of your skills and you truly deserve every minute of driving pleasure that car owes you
Thanks for the blessings, mate! I’m glad you liked the films. 😊
@@GreasyFingers hey i have a 5/8" solid round steel bar 16 inches long (straight) i need to bend at half the distance... so at 10 inches 30 DEGREES !!!? can you recommend a good way to do it?
I totally agree here..but I read the last few words as "that car OWNS you" vs owes you. I wouldn't mind being owned by this gorgeous Porsche!
As a partner in a Porsche restoration shop, I wanted to congratulate you for your dedication to doing thie work correctly. It is rare here in the states to see this level of corrosion in a G-body 911, but almost routine in the pre-galvanized cars. You have made great improvements in this Carrera and the pride of accomplishment must be the greatest reward. Congratulations.
Thanks, Bill! Feedback like that from a pro counts as ten.
Hi Bill Where's your shop?
this long video is a treat to watch!
Way beyond my skill set! Not sure I could even reach this level in a lifetime..great video.impressive stuff.
I'm quite sure you could, Dominic!
While the car in question happens to be a Porsche, I feel this is an essential series for anyone considering starting a restoration project. The technical work is first rate but just as importantly, the ethos of why the work needs to be done and why the unstinting level of detail that permeates the series is critical. Call it a examination and evaluation of values. Don't cut corners here or in your real life. Fantastic presentation!
Many, many thanks, Steve. „Happens to be a Porsche“ 🤣🤣
Damn right. If kids watched this video in class an hour a week, we would have a different planet in a decade.
Old school craftsmanship at it's finest.
Yeap, old school craftsmanship is exactly what I’m trying to celebrate.
Huge amount of work, but well worth it! Great to have it all in one video.
🙏🏻☺️
I just want to say this is the best restoration video I've seen by far and I've seen many of them! Dedication, attention to details, everything is perfectly done. Old Porsches are the best. Outstanding job, Greasy Fingers. Music is nice as well. Enjoy your ride, you deserve it!
Thanks very much, my friend. That is extremely kind and much appreciated.
What a journey huh? Well done Sir.
Walter deserves this. ☺️
That's not only pure craftsmanship but 100% of love for the brand!!!
Thanks, Philip. I have to admit that. 😊
Ich bin Beeindruckt! Top Arbeitsqualität, Top Resultat! Und das alles in 49 Minuten!
Danke! Hab mir gerade Deine blaue Schwalbe angesehen. Sehr cool!
Fantastic craftsmanship on the car but also the videography! I have an 85 Carrera (in Guards Red too) and I love seeing the inner- and under-workings of these models. Inspires me to work on mine and to keep it original 👌
Thanks, Adam. Original is it!
I love watching someone taking the time to do an excellent job. May you enjoy driving that beauty for many years!
Thank you, Douglas!
That's not fixing or restoring, that's art ♥️ thanks for these awesome insights
That’s very nice feedback, thank you!
monk-like attention to detail and bottomless patience. perfect taste and amazing skills. this blew my mind. stunning work on car and film.
Thank you! Cheers! I like the monk-idea. 😊
You have filled me with motivation! I have to do a similar restoration on my Supra. Been with me for three years at this point, I was on fence about doing it myself and taking it to a shop. Boy watching you care for your car is just breathtaking. Hope you stay well and never have to sell the beauty. Cheers!
Thanks a ton for the feedback. I very much like it when people gain motivation from my videos. PS: I used to have a Japanese neighbour who had exactly the same dog than the one in your picture.
Wow... I'm at a loss for words with how incredible this work was.
Thanks. 😊
“Looking at it from the street cafe should be just magic”…. Yessssssss😂😅😊❤❤
😊😊
a true craftsman/ artisan and joy to watch the progression to end result.
Thanks! 😊
I envy you, for the car but most of all for the craftmanship and dedication.
Thanks, Remco. You make me blush.
Fantastic coverage. It's soothing watching a detail oriented craftsman at work. Well done sir. This was added to my favorites as a result of your hard work.
Thank you! There’s a great new 911 project approaching already, stay tuned.
@@GreasyFingers That's fantastic news! I anticipate the new project/coverage, and as a result of finding this video, I've been enjoying each in-depth process that you'd covered previously. Great stuff. Staying tuned indeed!
@@imrevin7 Excellent. I guess I'm going to pick it up in a couple of weeks, first films to be expected in July.
A total genius, watched too many restoration projects online.....But he is a genius!!!!! Great share.
Maybe a tiny little genius. 😌 Thanks, Denis!
Genius, pure genius. When my 996 gets old,and in need of love I hope that I can find someone with you talent! CHEERS
Thanks, Chris. Let’s hope your 996 won’t need any greasy fingers anytime soon.
Watched this for the second time as a summary of all your excellent effort. Just as entertaining and educational as the first time. 👍
Thank you! And keep smiling, I watched Lord of the Rings about 20 times. 😃
Great job and wonderful attention to detail
Thanks, John!
Vow. Hats off to you for such a meticulous restoration. Labour of love. Enjoy in good health
Thanks! Labour of love in deed. Stay healthy!
Thank you Sir for your dedication and time to document your fantastic work and share with us. You are such an inspiration. Obviously not everyone is lucky enough to own a classic Porsche but even with a lesser car it is worthy to put in the time whenever you are fixing something and FIX IT RIGHT. IMHO... you blew way past the "fix it right" level, you let your obsession turn your work into mechanical art. Best of luck to you!
Thanks a ton!
What a restoration. Exactly what I needed to see while I am in the middle of the rust repair for the Alfa
Thanks, Simon. Keeping moral high is key for a restoration project.
your craftsmanship is art!
Thank you, Jirin. 😍
I'm always impressed with those who have the savvy skills to put any vehicle back together...just as good as or better than when it was manufactured. WELL DONE. LOOKS FANTASTIC
Thanks, mate! Great feedback,
PS: Sir, I am admire your know how and dedication to perfection throughout the process of renovation...Hats off to you SIR!
Thanks, Aziz. Always trying to do my best.
The work you did to this car is beyond perfection, it sublime. My thought of trying to do the same on my car now scared me in seeing the amount of tools needed to get it done. Thank you for showing the reality of what it takes to accomplished such an exquisite job🙏
Thanks, mate. That’s a very gentle feedback. In fact I’m encouraging you to not be scared, but just throw your weight into it and get a project started. It’s gonna be great!
Great passion you have and being myself an Alfisti always admired the 911 and few years ago a 2017 911 Carrera was added into my herd!
Thanks, Giorgio. We have something in common there.
Your perfectionism is the equal of mine - you just have greater skills! A real pleasure to watch you identify and then resolve every issue you encounter
Thank you, Christopher.
I loved watching the care and attention you paid to the restoration. Very informative and relaxing to watch.
Thanks, Carl. Relaxing in fact is one of the top priorities when I make my films.
Amazing craftsmanship, no stone unturned and the car is probably better than when it left the factory with the care and attention you put in. Only one question. When can I book mine in! 😀
Thanks, David. We'd rather have to sort out the "where" before we talk about the "when". 😀
@@GreasyFingers haha! I think I could make the trip over for the quality of work you provide. 👍
As proud new owner of a '78 911 I am now consuming ever minute here - such great work! thanks for sharing and keep going please!
Thanks! You’re going to sleep a lot in the next couple of days. 😆
You have admirable skills my fiend, just watching that video is a testiment to man's ingenuiety. Thank you for sharing.
Thanks, mate. Such a nice feedback!
Great summary. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Though your comfort zone is magnitudes larger than mine, your detailed episodes give me confidence to perform some of these restorations on my ‘87, when necessary. Thanks for taking the time to fully document and explain your videos.
Looking forward!
That was a great summary, well done!!! Should have bought more beers though! Jokes aside, having watched the series, did not establish a measure of how much work has been done as a whole! Quite remarkable, in quality and quantity!
Thanks, mate. Yeah, it was a major effort.
That level of craftmanship... it's like being the mothern version of Leonardo da Vinci. I enjoyed every second of the video. Thanks
Thanks, that's a feedback that makes me really proud.
@@GreasyFingers I dedicated all my youth to become an engineer and work with engines, i even accomplished working for an F1 team as engine designer. But what you did here is truly my dream job. On my mid 30s it’s difficult to learn this skills, but i’d be willing to use any spare minute to do so. Cheers
Thanks again. We got something in common there, I’m an automotive engineer myself. I‘m into restoration since only a couple of years, you’re never too old for it.
You are an artist and genius. Everything I do to my Guards Red 1986 944 Turbo, I always try to clean and restore to the best of my ability with the tools I have. Spraying bodywork and welding I haven't got the facilities or enough skill yet. But you inspire me to take on more and get better.
Amazing job! Beautiful car!! Congrats!!
Great videography and unbelievable restoration skills! Much respect for a job well done.
Thank you, Scott. I’m glad you liked it.
Extraordinary. Thank you for taking the time to make the video.
Thank you, Carl. You’re welcome!
I wouldn’t hesitate to buy one of your cars. Dedication and craftsmanship.
Thanks, David. Good news is: I’m currently restoring one which is for sale.
Inspiring renovation work. Well done!
Thanks, mate!
Great video - thanks for sharing satisfying moments of restoration as well as challenges. The additional effort of producing excellent footage along with great crafts skills is highly appreciated! Keep on posting these interesting insights for all 911 lovers, thanks from northern Germany 😉
Thanks & Grüße in den Norden!
Loved the way you repaired what needed repairing and painted what needed painting...wonderful achievement..
Thanks! Yes, the car wasn’t asking for more.
Like all great plays, so much greater than the sum of its acts. Very enjoyable.
Thank you, Alastair. I love your thinking!
Awesome video and really amazing work on the restoration. Especially the repair of the wing. Well done.
Thanks a ton, Manjit. To everybody out there: Manjit was one of the first guys who appreciated my videos and the fact that I still make them has much to do with this guy. 🙏🏻
@@GreasyFingers that's very cool of you to point that out ☺loved the video too mate. well done and thank you!
Wunderbar! Just subscribed.
It was nice to relive those videos. Great work.
Thanks, mate. How’s the bug doing?
I took a few months off. Back at it again. Just waiting to get a 911 once I free up some space with the beetle. Good content, sir!
Bravo. I was thankful for my nice little desktop audio system as I whiled away the time listening as I watched (as you requested!).
Excellent. I hope you had a great evening.
Excellent work 👏🏻👏🏻
Beautiful... Enjoyed the series.
Thanks, John!
Greasy, I think you are an inspiration for all of us...you not only show us your expertise and patience, but also motivate us to (try to) reach the same level of perfection...I learned of all your videos that patience outweighs the quick fix...
Thanks for the wonderful feedback, Gerald. What you say about patience is definitely true.
such dedication you restored it like your first love not for earning quick cash
That is exactly true! Thanks, very well observed.
Great detail and dedication with which you do your work, it is amazing to be able to see the art and dedication to recover this beautiful 911, congratulations, it is a magnificent restoration, thanks for sharing this detailed video, it is very motivating, greetings from Peru.
Thanks for the feedback, mate. I love to see people watching my stuff at places all over the planet.
Amazing everything please come to the US. I am sure you can tell me why at 24:43 this razor blade technique is safe for the paint below? Is your touch so sensitive that you can tell you don't reach paint? Amazing work. Stick to the Porsches because we are crazy people.
Thanks! I might come to the US this summer. Where are you based again? The razor blade: I wouldn't dare this at some external surface, but in this case ... It's not too difficult to control the blade in a way that it only scratches the tape. Ripping it off then will to the rest.
@@GreasyFingers Awesome. I am on the east coast. Perhaps a good time to come might be for Porsche Parade. I have never been, but I understand this year it will be nearby in PA.
Watched the original series. the summary showed just how much work went into the restoration. Great work!
It was quite a bit!
Being a tradesman myself makes watching a talented craftsman very satisfying not to mention relaxing . Bravo on the skills.
Thanks! It’s one of the main goals of my film to relax people.
Really a very good job Johannes. I would like you to be my neighbour to get your support and expertise 😀 Stephane
Thanks, Stephane. Your name sounds French, so Munich is around the corner. Don't hesitate a second to come by, when e.g. a holiday or business trip takes you here.
Great Video, have loved this series, out of curiosity what lift do you have? It would be perfect for my set up
Thanks, Timothy. It's a TwinBusch and I sincerely love it. It's a recommendation in deed.
This is pure art, man! Love to see that passion and that pursuit of perfection. Beau-ti-ful!
Thanks, mate. Much appreciated.
your attention to detail is amazing...great job..
Thanks, mate.
This was fantastic. One day, when I own my own 911, i'll remember this. Although a lot of work, and time, the required tools and skill wouldn't be too hard to develop (just try on a cheaper car first XD) What was that steam/rust prevention you placed into the cavities, never seen it before. Also one last thing, I don't know if your settings are slightly wrong for the metal thickness, it seems that the wire speed is very quick, and maybe high amps, causing the blowouts in the steel. Again, fantastic, I look forward to my possible builds in the future!
Thanks for the tip! ☺️
Agreed, I would have gone TIG not MIG, but all round wow wow wow!
it is very impressive. there is no place for chance in this restoration work. I follow the episodes from the beginning and I have great respect for you.
Thanks very much, Cédric. I hope you’ll continue to like it.
The cleanliness of your shop and the precision of your skills are outstanding. I guess you have a very hard time when it comes to find someone else to service your cars...👏👏👏
Thanks, Jomar. In fact I have a guy I run to when I don’t know how to handle a project. The good thing is: sometimes he comes running to me …
This is my dream. The fabrication is also a goal.
Sooo pleasing to watch! You really get down to business. Loved it.
Thanks! 😊
This man has a lot of skill and patience. Wonderful result
Thanks, mate. The real Jacques Villeneuve? 😀
Incredible level of workmanship.
Thank, Rhett. Just patience and the will to get it right.
Simply wonderful, some day all sports cars will be loved and restored in this way!
Thank you, David. That’s in deed an interesting question. What will happen to yesterday’s heroes once we’ll all be driving electronically?
@@GreasyFingers Good point, my take is the world is full of wonderfully talented and inventive people, I’m confident that their passion for the internal combustion engine and wonderful engineering will keep these beauties alive and vibrant, witness the Goodwood Revival and the massive numbers of enthusiasts who attend every year. I remain an optimist, hope I’m right and that you can keep your Chanel running for as long as is possible. Thank you once again from England.
@@SuperWestie01 I think you’re right, David. And I pray for it!
The patience and the talent is so inspiring. Thank you for sharing. I have learnt so much.
Konzentrierte, sorgfältige Arbeit eines positiv detailverliebten Restaurierers - Klasse!
Danke, Siegfried!
Absolut beeindruckendes Video. Unglaubliches handwerkliches Geschick. Pure Leidenschaft für den 911. Und dann auch noch mein schönster 911er in rot! Wumbaba……….❤️
Vielen Dank fürs Feedback! ☺️
well done Mr. Fingers.......I admire your skills
Thanks, Mr. Saucer. Nothing to admire here, just a man and his cars. 😊
So many eclectic skills rebuilding it meticulously - attention to the minutest details - great job! 😎
Thanks, mate!
Fantastic outcome and a lot of work thanks for keeping a classic on the road.🥂👏👏👏👏👏
Thanks for the feedback, mate. FROG = Federal Republic of Germany?
@Greasy Fingers no Aussie just like frog's 🥂
Incredible restoration and fine detail. Thank you for sharing all your work.
Thanks, mate. 😊
Great job keeping as much originality as possible. Most people don't know where to stop.
Thanks! Yes, originality is cool.
The rust around the rear jacking point fucking scares me. Amazing work!
Thanks! Yeah, for good reason. 😐
Excellent work.
Great work! Good to see people are still doing restorations on their own rather than sending them to a shop
Thank you. Shops can’t do proper restorations because people are - unsurprisingly - not willing to pay the effort.
I have my first porsche (944)and it turned my world upside down.i am amazed about the build quality of te 80ties.my car is 33years old and still feels like a new fresch car straight from the factory.i love my porsche and it gives me a special feeling😀
Yes, they are fantastic. I hope they’ll keep on pleasing you. I‘m tempted by the 944 myself.
Bravo, das ist deutsche Gründlichkeit!!!! Hut ab, top Arbeit!
Danke, Stefan. Habe gerade den Text für den Film von morgen eingesprochen. Da komme ich auf diesen Punkt zurück … 😆
Hi Johannes, truly excellent work and attention to detail. Always a pleasure to watch your ‘no compromise’ approach to repairing and preserving your cars.
Thanks, mate. Yeah, the results have to just please me and they only do if they are state-of-the-art.
This is not just a Restoration, it was a full body surgery...loved it
Yes, it was. Thanks for the feedback!
Just wonderful to watch the level of detail. Such a broad set of skills went into that re-build. I definitely took notes for my own projects. Thank you!
Thanks, Tim. Fingers crossed for your project!
Really enjoyed this from start to finish. Just shows the time and dedication needed even when you start with a good car.
Thank you, David. That is unfortunately true.
Wow, I could mirror other comments, craftsmanship, talented, etc. but I can only say after owning a 1990 C4S and a 2004 C4S I will never complain about another costly repair bill. Brilliant work !
Thanks, Thomas. Much appreciated! In fact, be soft on your mechanic, it’s very difficult to make a dollar with serious restoration work when you’re loyal to the customer.
Excellent job!
I could watch this over and over again. Great work!
Thanks, Scott. Don’t let anybody keep you from doing.
