Remaking axe - decorating a cheap axe to Viking inspired axe
In this tutorial I’ll remake and decorate a cheap axe to a Viking axe. I decorated and modified the axe head and I also decorated the axe handle. I made this axe so I could continue to work on my electro-etching skills. First I removed the axe head and cut it with an angle grinder. Then electro-etched the axe head and the plates on the handle. For etching I used water, vinegar, salt and a power source. I added some brass decoration and leather on the handle too. I rebuild this axe from the cheapest axe I could find, so it was a quite small axe. So maybe the right term is hatchet? Anyway I hope this leads me to make something more better looking in the future. It’s a small axe so I didn’t waste much money anyway.

I tried something different this time, but I hope you liked it! Any feedback is welcome. Was the music too loud? Did you miss the narrative from last videos? Pepsi or coke? Too many questions?
Hotel? Trivago. Great axe/hatchet btw. Any plans adding some etching to armors?
Lol good answer. And thank you! I do have plans to decorate my future projects with this technique
Love this! I know what my next project is. Say where did you get the axe from?
@@user-yr5bk2cx4k thank you! It was just a cheap axe from store I bought, like 10 euros
This video deserves way more views
Absolutely superb. My ancestors would approve
Haha thank you!
Dude, I'd be unwilling to use it in the field, yet it so deserves to live and be there. Nice work brother.
wow...amazing outcome
Thank you! I've been doing more etching lately, hope to publish the videos soon
Good dude
Thank you!
@@GarageKnight no problem dude

Vos soy un genio. Saludo desde Venezuela.
GREAT 👌👏👏👏
Thank you, glad you like it!
Great mod(plus any video where someone uses a angle grinder in the first minute is quality )

I love this channel, and to see you're from Finland as well like me makes it even better! Amazing skills and videos. Hope to someday be able to make something even half as badass as your stuff!
Kiitos! Glad to hear you like them, don't be afraid to try yourself, it's a great hobby :)
An exquisite piece there mate. You're a master.
Thank you! I'm glad to hear that
very cool, love the music a bit loud but gave me inspiration and time set for my build to come, I did subscribe in the hope to follow you in your next adventures
Thank you very much for your feedback! I'll try to find more relaxing & quiet music next time, I'm using my phone to record so the tool sounds alone might sound boring. And I already have few projects ready and I'll release the videos later, just going to finish two builds, hopefully soon!
First time watching your awesome. I've been making my own axes thanks for the video I get inspired by them.
Thank you!
Very nice work 👍
Thank you!
I really need this. I'd be running bout like kratos
Does the cutting by grinder in this way over heat the steel? You had to temper it again?
From start to finish how long did making this take?
The only thing I think could be improved is if you adhered the conic wedge to the top plate before putting it in it would have a stronger bond. Other than that it looks amazing, great work man
Thanks for the feedback, personally I think there's many things to improve but maybe I'll make another some day. Thanks for watching
好漂亮
Excellent work! & a GREAT source of inspiration for me, I'm working on a small axe right now. Not sure which masking paint would be the best to use, you said "alkyd"?
Thank you! Yes be sure to use primer paint, that will stick better and won't come of accidentally
@@GarageKnight Sounds good, thanks.

What did you use for a resist? I’m new to all of this, and just want to make sure I don’t completely wreck my first attempt…..
Do you mean the paint? It's primer spray paint, that will stick better than normal spray. I've had many failed projects myself so I understand your worry :) You cand try the etching on some junk piece first so it won't matter if something goes wrong
That's amazing, I'd love it to go wif my collection. How much $$$
I like to have a axe you making. Let me have a price!
What kind of paint did you use?
Primer paint, it sticks better than normal
