I remember when he was in his prime, he was unbelievable, there was no youtube or anything like that so when you had the chance to watch a game featuring Ronaldo you almost didn't want to blink because you knew you were watching something special. He never played for a team that I supported so I still remember that feeling of jealousy for not having a player that could control and touch the ball the way he did. He would just glide through the field and the ball would listen to his every command.
He also never played for a team that won major trophies.
I was lucky to have my teenage life in the 90's, where I could watched R9 at his prime. I have never seen a player like him, he's above everyone else to this day.

Best ever player for me. I remember the first time I watched him in Confed 1997 game against Czech Republic. My parents were just talking about him and I was really curious to see this player who had a similar name to mine. I was only 8 years old and was blown away. I liked soccer but after I watched this guy, I started loving it and following it. I even said I wanted to play for Brazil even though I am not from there. It's always inspirational to see how he overcame his injuries. No debate for me. R9 is the best ever.

I remember in 1998, brazil vs denmark, a world cup match. Denmark destroyed my country Nigeria in the previous round and i hated them (on pure footballing level) for that. Then they met RONALDO and Brazil in the quarters. That match will live forever in my memory. Ronaldo played like an angry beast against Denmark. His touches, dribbling, strength and 2 assists were truly phenomenon in that match. After that game, i rated him above every humans from any profession in the world. He is truly a PHENOMENON. We will never see someone with half of his skills again in this planet.

Both players have the same athleticism, speed and creativity; perhaps Ronaldo has fancier tricks and dribbles, while Pele can use the movements of his opposition a bit better to his advantage. Ronaldo the Phenomenon, what can I say more than the comments of his colleagues. He is the biggest inspiration for my Kids now, who want to be like him. I have been watching football from the 80's, I have never seen a complete player like the phenomenon. The passion for the game, no cheating and faking like some so called heroes we have here, the speed, control , execution, dribbling, shooting and scoring with both feet, and just loving life. He truly is the Number one influence for young players.

Ronaldo is the greatest footballer I've ever had the pleasure to witness. 1997 through 2013 was my happiest time watching football. Now all of my favorite footballers are retired, leave me with lesser world class super stars who are over hyped and over paid compared to their more talented predecessors.
