5 Years Neighbors Laughed at Our Building a Yacht in Backyard, But Then They Were Amazed

This is the story of building our homemade yacht in the backyard. We built the yacht mainly with my wife, but relatives and friends also helped us in the construction.
We have been building the yacht for 5 years, and spent $ 30,000 on all materials.
In this time-lapse we will show you the whole process of creating a wooden sailing yacht from making frames to sea trials under sail.
We are a happy young couple, Gena and Vita. We like to equip life around us with our own hands. So we feel as independent as possible and realize ourselves creatively. We love making videos and try to make them useful. Therefore, we will develop and further develop this channel. We have many more construction projects that we will surely surprise you with. If you support family values and love to create with your own hands, welcome to our CREATIVE COUPLE family
In 2017, we were forced to sell the yacht as we wanted to quickly finish building our house, but we are already hatching a plan to build a new expeditionary aluminum yacht.
Here you can see the history of the construction of our house: • The Unexpected Transfo...
We made the project for the yacht ourselves, you can download it from this link: drive.google.com/file/d/19U934pMDDZfNXlfW4gocBjlMftsrDKi6

  • *Hello friends. We have started a new series of videos about building a dream workshop. In the first series, we prepared the old garage for restoration, as it will be part of the workshop. And they destroyed the ancient barn to the ground, as it does not fit into the new architecture of our backyard. We hope you enjoy our first video in this series:* kzhead.info/sun/ZaeFedSsgJWma58/bejne.html

    • I’m now building my second boat. Full credit to the guy. It’s a lot of work. I know. But anyone with reasonable carpentry skills could build this boat. Laminated frames, strip planked hull. There’s an endless list of videos on KZhead on these tried and true techniques. Follow the plans ( which he probably didn’t draw ), be accurate, and it will turn out fine. It’s not rocket science. Just hard work.

  • This is incredible. I think too often some take for granted the amount of work, time, and talent that goes into making things, almost like they magically appear out of the end of a machine. This gives a high level of respect for what goes into building something from nothing, just the design alone, let alone the building of it! I applaud you folks!

  • My grandfather and father did the same thing in our yard in Banff when I was young. The boat was named Galatea, which is now the name of my business. Great memories, awesome work guys!

    • Fun fact : "Galatea" is a mythological character whose name means "she who is milk-white". It is based on the Greek root γᾰ́λᾰ (gála, “milk”), which also gave the word "galaxy", which is... the name of the boat built on the video. Fun fact n°2 : the word "galaxy" actually comes from γαλαξίας (galaxías, “milky”). In Greek mythology, the trickster god Hermes suckled the infant Heracles at the breast of Hera, the queen of the gods, while she was asleep. When Hera awoke, she tore Heracles away from her breast and splattered her breast milk across the heavens, forming the white strip of stars that was called the "Milky Way" during thousands of years. Later we discovered that all the stars visible with bare eyes were within the same group of stars, and that there were countless of such groups of stars very far from our. We then used the term "Milky way" to name our own group of stars and we used the root "galaxias" to name these groups of billions of stars.
