  • As someone who's been watching RackaRacka since childhood, this is putting a huge smile on my face to see how far they come. They were making funny videos with Ronald McDonald, now they're making a full on horror film. I am so flipping proud of these two and I cannot wait to see what this has in store.

    • I've been watching them for ~8 years, and I can't explain how happy I was to see the overly positive reception at Sundance for their film. They even had Ari Aster and Jordan Peele reach out to them and say how much they liked it!! Then they got acquired by A24 for distribution?? I'm so pumped and so proud of the folks at RackaRacka for pulling this off. They're living the dream.

  • I think the movie is a metaphor for how lost the youth are like wandering spirits yearning to be possessed by a soul that gives them a high while the souls are wandering spirits looking for a vessel to feel what it's like being alive again.

  • I've just finished watching this sadness. I defined this film as being thoroughly hurt and isolated after loss . I don't know why, but somehow it was terribly sad to me. Being caught in a lonely place makes me feel that way. Mia was sort of indecisive sometimes, genuinely like all of us, but she needs to be saved from the hell of loneliness. She deserves it.

    • @@jordanwalters9458 Yes, this kind of movie has been done to death for years but it's the way the creators are doing this that looks really promising. You can do movies like this but if one puts a whole new interesting creative spin to this genre that's well thought out and a decent budget to match it's gonna do well. I like a perfectly executed horror movie and it doesn't look cheap, not full of gore and horror, but decent nudity. A24 has a decent track record of releasing sleeper hits that explode out of nowhere.

I haven't seen Pearl, so I won't say anything about that, but nothing has been super original or ground breaking. Also, why does it seem like movie studios have all collectively fired their audio departments? I cannot hear shit in theaters, when streaming, or in trailers anymore. I have my phone on full volume, over here with the speaker part close to my face, having my brain feel like it's completing a puzzle. Why do they seem to be whispering, just for the music to be so ear piercing? I know they've produced EEAAO, LadyBird, and some other good movies, so I do applaud them there, but their horror department is lacking imo.

  • The actress is fantastic at portraying a protagonist that is thoroughly insufferable and a clear danger to everyone around, so glad movies aren’t afraid to show stupidity and selfish recklessness disguised as traumatic grief! It’s a fresh take to portray a character that is so flippant with the pain of the one other person who is experiencing precisely what she is experiencing, but has no trouble weaponizing that same pain to make others feel guilty and feel sorry for her to get what she wants, the father is desperately trying to connect with his daughter who ignores his attempts only to turn around and desperately try to connect with the other parent that knowingly abandoned her….so tragic…

    • I'm still going to see the movie but I hope that is just your theory about it being about addiction and not what the director said. I don't see how you can get addicted to that, like it's some kind of Christian thing to try to say stuff like that. If I have the power to talk to dead people I would only just be asking questions about the afterlife and that is all. Oh yea the main character wants to talk to someone she knows that died so I guess it makes sense for her to do that, and then after that she ask questions to the dead about the afterlife. I would be okay with this being a horror movie if the spirit is really a demon pretending to be her dead mother, and thinking she's real gave the demon more power. I'm okay with it if it goes to that direction, and not turn into some Christian propaganda type movie.

  • I thought Talk to me was a brilliant film from beginning to end. The people who hate on this film probably just don’t truly understand the meaning of it. For a directorial debut from a group of KZheadrs, they did an amazing job. The concept is truly unique and while the film isn’t as scary as people were claiming,it definitely knew how to keep the shock factor and intensity going. The film had a good handful of graphic and disturbing sequences that just leave you with nothing to say because it’s so much to take in. I loved this film and I wanted to keep my expectations low that way I didn’t walk out disappointed. It may have been predictable at moments, but at this point in our generation,we can pretty much guess what will happen in any given film. At the end of the day A24 is such a great production company, because they make such interesting concepts that are either Great or not for you. And if a film from their company is for you,it sticks with you for a long time. Truly think it’s one of the better films of this year and there’s a lot to love about it.

    • Very few horror films go into the psychological angle where the spirits mess with your very outlook of reality. Many go only with the poltergeist effect of "oh, the spirit is holding a door shut" or it has a physical form you can defeat. Like, no, these things exist in a completely different plane and can mess with your head. You think you're hitting it but it's really your friend you're hitting. That's how they would realistically mess people up. So, I applaud them for doing some justice to it in this film.

It's a step above things like Insidious and The Conjuring in terms of its maturity, as those films I consider to be "horror for kids" this felt more broad in its intended audience but its not particularly scary or disturbing, conceptually or in terms of its gore.
