Eric Staal would need help leaving the ice after taking a head-first fall into the boards.

  • I'm actually quite suprised that they let him get up, instead of getting out the stretcher and stabilizing his neck as precaution.

    • he was following the puck, which is his job, so he didn't see that Staal went head first into the boards.

  • sorry but for precaution they should of put him in stretcher with back board and c spine collar to make sure and protect. if his back or neck swells or slight fracture it could be the end. iIf was me I would of demanded it. no big boy shorts if can't walk the next day or ever after

  • When I saw this during the game, I expected them to stretcher him off because of how he hit the boards. His neck, head, and shoulder appeared to smash into the boards, and when he got up his eyes were closed and head was down. They probably should've stretchered him off :/

  • Eric take it slow with recovery. I had same type of injury but I believe that my diagnosis was not th e right one. All the best Eric I am sure you have the very best doctors Joe had the best and so did Jorden. But yours is neck. Hope your back as good as new! Rob Corvo

  • If it were Columbus playing Pittsburgh, they would have let the game keep going until Pittsburgh scored based on Werenski's injury last week instead of stopping the game immediately. Hope Staal's OK.

  • I really don't like this. Eric Staal is one of my favourite players and he bounced back this season to prove he's still a good player. Now he could get seriously injured. This sucks

    • guy almost died. he didn't mean to hurt gaudreau, it was accidental, slashing happens 10x times every single game in NHL, it was really bad that johhny broke his finger after staal's slash, but c'mon man guy went brutaly to the boards head-first and you're talking about karma. don't you see difference between finger and head to the boards?
