Watch as a Victor Hedman shot hits Anton Stralman in the head. Stralman actually chose to take the puck off the top of his helmet but it still caused the Panthers' player to get cut pretty badly.

Forgot he wasn't on Tampa anymore and when no blue jerseys went down, i thought he took it like a tank. Hopefully it isn't too bad tho, he's a good guy
"Hopefully it isn't too bad tho" LOL!!! How old are you kid? Getting hit in the head is never okay. He just lost 20 years off his lifespan
I forgot he wasn't on the Lightning, too.
@@tynao2029 it could be bad to the point that he breaks his jaw, is concussed, and has his career ended, or he could be cut with a concussion that sidelines him for a couple months. It's never going to be good, but it could be worse
@@dinethaltmann9582 *though*
Not a way to return to Tampa hope he is okay
Okay??? LOL!!! Do you know anything at all about trauma and head injuries? Doesn't sound like it
@@tynao2029 wtf are you babbling on about? Did you read his comment?
@@tynao2029 this comment is written like somebody who uses Facebook daily
@@tynao2029 Easy there, kiddo. No need to burst a blood vessel here.
@@tynao2029 why are you freaking out. After his comment about returning to Tampa he said HOPE IS OK. Why are you freaking out
2019. the year of the pucks to the face injuries.
Wow he got hit hard head and that was smart he put his head down not up!
The Lightening players and fans showed a lot of class.
FinskaRS what if Tom Wilson or Brad Marchand got leveled.. I’d love to think pple would still stay classy but I knew if this was a vid on one of them there would be an insane amount of classless comments.
That’s because he was on the Lightning the year before🤦♂️
Nice to see the refs blow the whistle after the hit. Maybe Calvert's injury paid notice to the NHL /Refs to wake up. Unfortunately it had to be a bad injury before it happened. Hopefully he will be ok.
Anna Roberts Lmao, wished they had figured that out before Bishop got hit in the neck with a puck during the playoffs last year and the refs just let the Blues score while he was writhing in pain and grabbing his neck on the ice. Good job NHL /Refs!!!
@@lawconic1 Yes True. Didn't something like this happen this season to Bishop. I find it hard to believe as soon as a ref gets injured they stop immediately.
@@lawconic1 for an older example you can look up when werenski got hit in the face and was bleeding on the ice and the play went on and the penguins scored. But the second crosby is ever hit there's an immediate whistle
"Hopefully he will be ok." LOL, do you know anything about head injuries?
@@tynao2029 - CTE? If you know please let me know. Look at the Calvert/AVS hit.
legit his helmet saved his life.
Крепко досталось! Молодец,что успел сгруппироваться. Скорейшего выздоровления!
In my day of playing the puck was metallic and my head was a magnet. The slo-mo shows the puck hitting him on the top of the head. It still hurts.
Sucks that Matt Calvert had to be the example to make the whistle be blown quicker, but extremely happy to see the refs doing a better job with this.
Same thing I said when I saw the refs blow the play dead right away
Зрители молодцы, поддержали игрока!!!
Hey Sportsnet, Ryan Mcdonagh took the shot, might want to change your description
How did he get his head down so fast? That was a quick shot. So lucky. Poor guy :(
Здоровья этому парню.
Wow a simple putting his head down saved him about $15,000 in dental work
Super thankful Anton is OK.
Hey buddy the net is down there
Tony the Tiger it was deflected
Got right back up
If that was a soccer player, they would of had a funeral.
That's why soccer is the global game and this is just figure skating with a puck.
don't forget dramatical rolling on the ice
@@garryandersen1087 you sound butt hurt that soccer Is a female sport. It's only globally popular because everyone plays it even 3rd world countries, all you need is a ball
@@sasso09 It is not a female sport lol, and you are right about everything else doe
@@lennylalamba5366 very much a female sport
I hope he’s okay
But is the puck okay???
Wait did it between helmet and visor or straight on visor
Top of helmet. It shows in the video where he got hit. Did you even watch it?
Good helmet? How the hell did it cut him?
Most likely just the transfer of energy from the puck to the helmet then to his skin that cut him. That or either part of the helmet broke or cracked and cut him.
There's no such thing as a "good helmet". It's just like the NFL. You can put whatever you want on your head, but if your head gets smashed by a puck or a 250 lb. linebacker, you're just going to die a slow death rather than an immediate one. Some people would rather die immediately than go through what head injuries will bring
@@tynao2029 Well I mean, there are such things as good helmets.
Hope Stralman is alright
Was awesome to see him return with about 2 minutes left in the game on the bench. Could of been so much worse
Hey good to see a Jimmie Johnson fan here! Sucks that he's retiring next season
You haven't seen the long term effects of what that did to his brain yet, just wait until he wakes up and doesn't remember his name
flex tape would seal that cut
How does that hurt? The helmet is there to protect, you should feel nothing with a helmet.
Kevin Shields your stupid
@@RandomPerson-gn7fu yea like over the top stupid only someone who literally never goes outside says stuff like that
Sea World hopefully they are like 6
I think the helmet broke
Hello 👋👋
And I will ask the question for the billionth time: WHY TF DONT NHL PLAYERS WEAR FACEMASKS. It doesn’t even have to be the metal ones that obstruct vision, just a clear vigor that extends down further. It would prevent plays like this. It doesn’t affect their play. I don’t get it
Visors are more for the sticks flying around. A slapshot could easily crack a visor upon impact.
Toasty Bagel well then they need metal ones, it seems pretty necessary to me and they’ve all played with it before in high school / college so it’s not completely foreign
@@thegator589 but then you get back to the point that they dont like wearing metal cages because they dont like the obstructed view. I mean if they all wanna risk the dangers of wearing a visor then I guess there's nothing anyone can do.
Could have just covered his face with his glove?
pikkisful I don’t think he even saw, much less had time to move his arm. He at least had the time to look down. Not even goalies see it coming half the time, It’s mostly just predictions. Lowering his head was much faster.
pikkisful he didn’t have enough time
This Shot was a..... #Straaal-man 🤭😔✌️
We need full face shields like what football did
I don't think that was Hedman's shot, #27 is Ryan McDonaugh.
The league should make everyone wear face guards. Jeez that's scary
CANT THINK OF A NAME this has happened literally every game this season! Someone’s going to get seriously badly hurt...
Max Briscoe no face guards ffs you are the type to want no fighting in the league
Its part of the game, I guarantee 99 percent of the players wouldn't want to wear a face shield.
@@Balmain_jacket just remove the helmet if you want to fight lol
Why did he look down. Just dodge it bro
Lol yeah it's that easy
Just stand on the highway and dodge the cars going 100 mph BRO
Woogie Harrelson pucks vs cars, great comparison
@@GHound420 The key part was he looked down BRO which means he's aware it's coming for his face. My question is thus valid. Why look down instead of yanking your head out the way. You going to stand there and block the car with your hands? No, if you know it's coming you'll try to move out the way.
Isalo!!
Wasnt shot by Hedman..... sportsnet sucks
They make enough money play on
Presence of mind to put his head down? What about the presence to duck out of the way?
I'd like to see you try Neo
Jon Findlay things going 80+ miles an hour no one is that fast
@@Jack-mg6gu yeah i take it back after watching ful speed.
These players really should wear full face mask
Have you ever played hockey? Growing up, having to wear the full mask was a pain, and it made it hard to see everything.
Yes, for 8 yrs. it's personal preference I guess
Pros and Chl and other leagues that don’t wear cages need too. Like u wear a cage most of your life so why stop.
Cause once you start wearing a visor its hard to stop wearing one. The vision is way better than a cage.
So who hit him
M0NTAUK yt Ryan McDonagh took the shot? Did you watch the video?
Time to start using foam pucks I guess......oh well still better than the tracking pucks
Time to have full face cages
Duck! Wait, this isn't Anaheim... His helmet did its job perfectly. He was bleeding because in cold temperatures the salt in sweat makes the skin brittle as it dries and then rehydrates, dries... I'm not sure if I would have kept the helmet as a memento, or given it to the other guy as a trophy.
I am more famous
