  • I’m definitely an empath due to my narcissistic mother but I’m a mother now and I take on my son’s disappointments and he same with my daughter, they are both grown and left home, but I so have the need to fix it for them to be happy,so when they hurt ,I hurt , then it causes me anxiety and depression, but I just can’t reason with myself to not feel this way,

    • Wendy, I have a feeling you are doing much better than you realize. You are a very caring person and obviously very empathetic. Usually, it means you're doing well for others but since you internalize their pain you feel depressed. Think of it as the price you pay but instead of with dread, do so with joy!

    • @@BarryKibrickOfficial thank you so much for your response. But the anxiety and depression is taking control of my life that I don't know what to do. I feel frozen with fear and abandonedment. Therapists and various medications haven't helped. I live in the UK and the NHS has done all it can for me. I feel like I can't go on ike this. My body trembles and I shake and my inner child is screaming out help I can't do this anymore and my adult self can't deal with it

  • I have been studying fibromyalgia for 15 years, I was desperate to find out why my life has become one of illness...Everyone I know with fibromyalgia fits somewhere on this Empath level...we absorb negative energies like a sponge! There are ways to protect yourself, perhaps they learn and feel better!

    • I am empath. I would always feel others hurt and pain. For years ppl would come to me and I would always encouraging them mostly women. It was draining and in my spirit I knew. I had to limit conversation. I had a girlfriend who, re-entered my life and I found myself being angry. My attitude and my mood was changing my Reiki instructor told me it was her energy. I was mirroring her energy. I came across this video because I’m searching on how to heal and keep myself cleanse, and self-care for me. This was a great help I will be by in the book..

  • Not to overpost but Judith Orloff's books have been such a help to me over the past decade. I was so excited about seeing Barry I got distracted. So, yes, if you are like me and going to a restaurant makes you feel like you are eating at every table in the room (ugh) and every time you talk to someone you feel every flickering moment of doubt or insecurity which might be totally unimportant to them, I highly recommend Dr. Orloff's books. For those saying "I can't change I think that is true. But you certainly can learn to live with your gifts and sensitivities just like the rest of the world manages with their own. Empaths are super people pleasers and Dr. Orloff will help you find your boundaries and be able to work them into your life without hurting anyone (our huge fear in life, right?)

  • I recognized a couple of years ago that I could feel others pain, especially emotional pain. I think being an empath is certainly why I was involved with 2 men who were narcissistic and extremely sociopathic. I can sure agree with Dr. Orloff's statement that these predatory types are drawn to people like me, because we are vulnerable. I am one of those "closed now" empathy's now, and it hasn't made me feel any better about my past or my future. I'm going to order the book...I'm a Christian and I hope there isn't to much of eastern mysticism in this book for me! Thanks for this video.

    • Yes, you are so correct. I have just been reading a book that explains more research on this issue, called "Sensitives and Introverts". The name is: "Quiet, The Power of Introverts in a World that Can't Stop Talking?" by Susan Cain. It was an very informative. Judith's book is more practical, however a combination of both books brings a larger perspective on this very important subject.

My main challenge is that I know and feel ONE with all at all times, thus there is no other...how do you have boundaries when there is no real boundaries in Oneness? And is it that one is absorbing other’s energies or is it just our own reflected in the other as we are ONE and so spiritually there is no other...thank you for sharing your insights 🌹💚🙏✡️ love grace and blessings to all 😇
