Thought Ronnie was in it to win it after Hossein's initial miss, but fair play to him for holding it together and clearing up.
Neil was spot on with his point 11:53. I can only imagine Ronnie didn't realise it would be two snookers required. The other option is that the mindset of what if I miss is just not something he is going to entertain here... but on reflection... the snooker is easy... playing slower makes the pot easy... no brainer really.

Thinking on the other likely scenario that he’s human and didn’t fix the match , I’d say he thought about snookering himself and that is why he didn’t play it slowly . Ronnie is not the type of person to deliberately snooker himself and then have the difficulty of trying to get out of a snooker of his own making . He rarely puts others in snookers so why himself ? I’m confused with Neal Foulds logic of Ronnie intentionally snookering himself when he could quite easily foul or give free ball if he did that ?
@@xplaybwoix Because if he had potted the black, and snookered himself on yellow, Hossein would've needed 2 snookers. If Ronnie then missed the yellow, Hossein still needs a snooker. If Ronnie pots that black, he realistically wins, no matter where he ends up on the yellow
Ronnie is more bothered about how he plays the game than winning these days. He just wanted to play a positive shot. He always attempts some sort of position on the next ball, irrespective of the match situation. He didn't enforce the miss rule in an earlier frame either for the same reason. Not how he plays the game.
@@xplaybwoixl don’t see how he could snooker himself. Only with a stun he could. By rolling the black in with some topspin on the cueball he would get enough momentum for the cueball to be able to see the yellow after. I don’t think the commentator had a valid point there.

It’s called pocket speed and even if he wanted to get to the yellow with a screw shot, he didn’t have the angle on the black to do so, so really there was no point in hitting that black that hard whatsoever.
Just roll it in and your opponent needs snookers ridiculous really.

Because a/ he was playing the greatest player of all time b/ he's never beaten him before c/ he knew that if he missed there was a good chance it would cost him the match. Pressure makes players miss , and there was loads of pressure on him during that visit. It was only a surprise to me that commentator Foulds was so surprised.
That black Ronnie missed didn't make any sense,over the year's his missed pot's that other players would be looked into for rigged gambling but when Ronnie does it nothing is said,just saying the ending off the match didn't seem right 🤔

I've just watched the shot again. He could have played the shot gently and ran through with the white, wouldn't have snookered himself. Also would have a better angle to pot yellow. So I can't figure out why he played the black like that. Some people here are saying he fixed the match. I think that's rubbish. He doesn't need to fix matches, he wins enough money playing. He's the most high profile player so is subject to more scrutiny probably. And that black was really really close to going in. It's so easy to say match fix but these players are humans, subject to physical and mental error

Where he could've easily try and pot the black by soft stun and leave the cue ball in the line of pink and snooker vafai on yellow, had he missed the black. Or run cue ball to black snooker vafai on yellow, OR put a colour safe knowing he was 26 points ahead. Very Poor and casual game play

Ronnie threw it away at 12.17. Should have played the black dead ball and a lot slower, or even consider putting the pink safe towards the upper part of the table.
