The Entire O'Sullivan Vafaei Feud So Far (2017-2023)

It's unclear exactly when this dispute started, but it seems to date back to 2017 when Ronnie started talking about numpties. Year after year, the feud built between the two of them. Here we look at the whole drama between them with clips of them from the last 6 years. They are playing in a few days, it will be one to watch!

    • the top seeded players are glued into all the tournements, easy to keep quiet and keep cashing the cheques but sport needs rivalries, grudge matches, controversies because most players daren't speak and many more are 'numpty's' on the periphery. For a sport to have integrity players have to improve and overcome adversity. There are pro's and there are pro's.

    • In a way that proves his point. I'm not hating on Ronnie, but the sport has done nothing but decrease in popularity so maybe the new talent needs to step up. Proves Ronnie's point too - with the lack of talent it's pretty dull. Last year it was celebrated the final at the championship managed 4.5m viewers, the best since 2014. When you consider 1985 had 18.5m - people have more choice these days and not even Ronnie pulls in that many but he's arguably keeping it alive while the growth continues in other countries and not here.

    • But I think what ronnie said has some truth to it. Steve Davis was the best, Hendy came along and took it from him,Hendry was the best a swarm of players came up and took it from him. Who has really shown up in the last few years and taken the game by storm? Basically no one under 30.

    • @@sirdetmist3204 These barren spells happen in all sports with the biggest difference being that snooker players have the longevity to play well into their 40s. Not to mention the seismic shift in culture from becoming less popular in the U.K and more popular in China leading to a transitional phase of top pros. I think we were really lucky to have Davis/Hendry/ROS one after the other and it could well be a decade or two before another comes along.

  • Regardless, snooker won't be the same without Ronnie and the rest of the class of '92. It's amazing that these people continue to stay competitive at their age, going deep in major ranking tourneys, and keeping their top 16 card. Absolute top blokes. Ronnie raises a fair point about there being no talented younger players - I mean, you can't really lump Trump with the new gen anymore, dude's almost in his mid thirties. And what's the average age of a top 16 player? I'm genuinely horrified what will happen to the sport once the likes of O'Sullivan, Higgins, Williams, etc. are gone. We'll just have K. Wilson v Trump finals 90% of the time, not that it's a bad thing in itself, but snooker desperately needs young blood.

I’m sure the interviewer told mark williams that Ronnie was talking abt everyone as well. Whenever he was saying that the new young generation isn’t playing the game as well as they could be. • Understand Hossein Vafaei he is 28 years young and got hammered by 13 to 2 by Ronnie who is 47. So 19 year gap, at this rate he may get close to Ronnie give or take little another 60 years he will close the gap 2 wins every 19 years.

  • Tbh i had no idea who Vafaei was till now, never heard of him and never seen any of his shots or games before. Pretty odd telling Ronnie O'Sullivan to retire, it's snooker, you can play till your back or arms and legs give out. He just can't win or be good enough to be top tier player. I got no idea what Vafaei will bring apart from the one who always will lose and complains 🤦‍♂️.
