Hot take: Honey Badgers get an artificial boost on most tier lists because every single Honey Badger main is a tryhard. I know that sounds hyperbolic, but I have yet to meet a single Honey Badger main that wasn't a tryhard and I would honestly love to be proven wrong. Same thing goes for Geese because of their toxic player base. I swear it's like having a high intimidation stat without actually investing that many points in it simply because no one wants to deal with that shit. If you ever see the Goose build put at the top of S-Tier, I guarantee you that tier list was made by a Goose main. Every single time.
I keep seeing people talk about how aggressive geese are, but the geese that show up in my area tend to be incredibly laid-back. It doesn't matter what species; they're all like that. They tend to keep to themselves.
@@TheOriginalJphyper Huh. I mean, to be fair, I guess people are more likely to remember when something causes problems than when something is just minding its own business not attracting attention.
@@TheOriginalJphyper You will think that until one attacks you. My friend was attacked when she was a kid, she is _terrified_ by them now and called me crazy when I was sitting close to them in a park. I could see the terror in her eyes.
@@AlainPilon I merely said they were like that in my area. I never said they weren't aggressive elsewhere. Obviously, I avoid messing with them when I can, but whenever I have to get past a group, they always just calmly stroll out of the way and let me through.
A build doesn’t need OP stats to count as top tier. The ability to make an otherwise average build work on the highest level when used to it’s full potential is something I’d call a „natural/true top tier“. It’s obvious that the badger has a very tough quest line to unlock it as a playable character, considering the tryhard density in badger mains. Competing directly with specialist builds that are meant to be top tier with a balanced build provides much more engaging gameplay than their competitors. You might see it as toxic or smurfing, but I see it as the quintessential high risk, high reward build, that only works so well because it’s a hard counter to meta-hugging.
Just wanted to add that Hugh Jackman had no idea that wolverines were real animals when he took the role of The Wolverine.

Honey badgers beat machetes and shotguns unless you get it in directly in the face. And if you miss you have an angry honey badger that don’t give a f- about your human weapons relentlessly hunting you down. S tier for sure.
@@AngelNearDestruction Really?! Holy hell.
You forgot the honey badger's most important INT ability; intimidation resistance, commonly known to the player base as "not giving a shit." Humans have this ability too, as do many top-tier builds. Intimidation resistance is powerful, in the right build, and can even be its own for of intimidation.
“Some humans” you mean Florida man? Also intimidation resistance, aka, balls so big it’s shocking that can even move.
@@bananaeclipse3324yeah but unlike regular builds thst get that ability from int florida man gets it due to a cool swag perk known as neural degeneration
@@ilayohana3150This ability is only matches by Australian Mains who start in the hard spawn zone and therefore leave the tutorial with a completely different skill tree than all other Human builds. The second big advantage they have is unlike the florida man build, they wont have to deal with the madness buildup that happens to floridiam mains from time to time. In the Nature Gamemode many would probably consider the Australian Mains to be Top Tier, mostly together with some Siberian Mains who have unlocked the rare Bear Taming Skill, probably due to their insane Buffs from Vodka

An important part of the wolverine (and badger) playstyle that you forgot to mention is the intimidation factor. When playing, players are constantly sizing up prey in a risk/reward fashion, and asking themselves: 'is the exp I'll get from this really worth risking my whole playthrough for?' And that's what honey badgers, and to a larger extent, Wolverines, are going for. Yes, a polar bear can 100% solo a wolverine. It's almost never worth it for the polar bear, however. The fact is, wolverines and badgers do not care about their own lives, and will go out of their way to spite, maim, and possibly kill, those that would mess with them. This MAY end their playthrough, and usually does, but that's just it: A predator that just tangled with one of these animals is either going to be so hurt from the fight that it'll impact the duration of the rest of their playthrough in a HUGELY negative fashion, OR they'll just flat out die from their wounds. This makes it so that, whenever a predator sees a scavenged carcass with a wolverine attached, they'll steer clear. They'll even be willing to just hand over their own kills to the darn thing, just to avoid tangling with the crazy psychopath that is known as the Wolverine Main. Which is precisely what Wolverine Mains want. When they fight to the death against a predator many times their size, they aren't planning for their OWN continued playthrough, but for subsequent playthroughs, as well as the playthroughs of other wolverine mains. In my opinion, this exploitation of player psyche actually ranks them on a higher spot than the one you've assigned them, here.
It’s XP not exp
True.

You mean, like a wolverine poaching loot from a bear?
Two fun and relevant facts: One, Ferrets can use a noodle dance to exploit a loophole in the Rabbit morale checks and essentially hypnotize them despite not having access to any Roar or size-difference effects. Two, Dachshunds are a dog build engineered by humans that can hunt badgers in their own burrows using the same overall setup as the weasels.
Feature Length that's a stoat 😂 Ferrets jump around because they're crazy noodles that want to play, they have no hunting instincts because they're domesticated.

The ultimate build : The Toaster with a minigun
Knew a ferret main that died in an empty toilet paper roll. Hear too many other stories of others choking on truly ridiculous things. Not sure they're a viable build.
Honey badgers and wolverines have very underrated intelligentsia and have recently been seen using a crude version of the tool use perk. They would drag nearby objects out of the way to get better loot or use them as a ladder to reach the loot.

There's a way around this; certain builds like otters managed to pick up the "cute" perk, which reduces aggression from human players.
The reason mustelids are so good at getting crits against other players and intimidation is because their intelligence is closer to a primates than most other carnivores. Otters and ferrets are famous for their ability to play, recognize property, stealing shiny things (like crows), and wolverines and otters have more complex family structures than any other apex predator, except cetaceans and primates, which is pretty ridiculous when you consider they're generally solitary animals! Their intelligence is masked by their testosterone levels, which brings out some really unbelievable aggression but they're so cleaver they get away with fighting grizzlies. Mustelids are a relatively new family also, the wolverine found its niche during the late Pleistocene, when the complex, incredible savanna ecosystems were collapsing! The same situations that made arctodus simus and panthera atrox go extinct was the situation that wolverines were able to capitalize on.

Just wanted to add two notes: 1. The otter has the densest fur in the entire animal kingdom. The most hairs-per-inch of every living creature. This is what allows it to be aquatic. Not only does it insulate on its own, it traps air which provides an additional layer to prevent heat from escaping. 2. The honey badger has a special team up relationship with the honey bird. The bird finds beehives and leads the badger to it. The badger rips apart the hive, sedates the bees, and eats the honey. The bird prefers the leftover wax.
Actually if you look in deeper to the honey guide things it isn’t actually true
@@jjfeedback443 I was about to comment this. I read somewhere that there is no hard evidence that this is true, only anecdotal stories which are very unreliable as might be useless
@@jjfeedback443 According to David Attenborough, humans in Africa use honey guides. I don't know about the badger, but I would assume the bird can cooperate with other animals.

Sea otter main here. While I enjoy the representation of otters, the separation of river otters/giant otters and sea otters needs to be stated here. Only sea otters have unlocked the tool use perk, so no tool using giant otters for you. Also, sea otters have ridiculous food costs, needing 25% of their body weight in food everyday to survive. They're not light, either, weighing an average of 50-60 pounds and the heaviest being 110 pounds. The food cost gets even higher with a baby, so high that sea otter mothers have to make one of their babies quit if they have twins. This is because sea otters don't have any blubber in their build, so they rely on their metabolism and fur to keep warm. The trade-off is that you aren't as good of loot as marine mammals with blubber, such as seals, but it's not that good of a trade-off. The real reason you play a sea otter is for the ecosystem you're a part of, as the sea otter build is a keystone species to the kelp forest server. Without sea otters, places called 'urchin barrens' spring up, where sea urchins gang up on any kelp loot that shows up, hence the name. Nice video otherwise!
S tier comment right there. Those sea otters are fascinating.
SkitsTheSkitty I played red panda a bit just have to say it was pretty fun. You just got to avoid clouded leopards and you literally live by your food source. It is easy to get food and only need to watch out for one predator.
Hey thats an idea, considering the types of playstyles demanded by things like caloric requirement. bears gorge then hibernate, hummingbirds stop eating just to sleep, whales constantly filter water, bees collect and age food, ants have unlocked agriculture
And that why giant river otter is the way to go.

Remember Stoffel escapes his enclosure not for clout, but for fun. He will literally let himself be recaptured just so he can do it again.
I remember when he got another honey badger (female) with him to calm him down and not want to escape. Yea the honey badgers worked together and escaped together lmfao
@@icecrystal14_78 he also taunted the person is his care taker by literally escaping and scaring him at the guys own home!
dude what if tierzoo is actually a time traveler from the future where nature and animals are long gone and there was a game company that found out about their distant ancestors and their nature and decided to make a giant mmo out of it... 🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔

seems legit
The fact that you mashed up this video with runescape is great.
RuneScape background music is giving me amazing nostalgia thank you sir
Man how could you not mention that the otters hold their hands so they don’t get lost in the watter while they’re sleeping? That’s from far the cutest habilitie from all the mustelids.
They also rape baby seals and hold each other’s pups hostage for food. Otters are hella cute.
@@GianniEndo they also kill for fun like deadass sometimes they just kill without getting food
@@legion6989 bcoz highly intelligent :’)
@@GianniEndo dont act like your drunk relatives didnt/wont kidnap you and demand money at your wedding
Mndaiye 97 would have some thing to say about this
Also wolverines have one of the best long distance running next to humans, it’s not very well documented but wolverines have been tracked running 18+ miles at almost top speed, they travel over mountain rages in a single night
eastjm80 They must have points specced into their Travel Form ability.
You got any sources for that? I would love to read that!
Hey man, cool video, also I'm curious about what's you're thoughts on mongoose, I just recently got interested in them after learning about the story of rikitikitavi
That transition into squarespace was golden.
