  • I know this isn't brought up often for a ton of reasons, but Jonathon Glazer's speech on the war on Gaza is genuinely one of the modt powerful and important speeches that have ever happened at the Oscar's, PERIOD. This is one of the most consistently amazing Oscar ceremonies I've ever witnessed, and that speech by Jonathon Glazer almost made me shed tears.

  • I loved Past Lives, and it was my personal favorite movie of last year. It was nice to see a simple but very relatable story told really well and sincerely. But I'll also be realistic and say that while Past Lives is exactly the kind of indie darling to get an Oscar nomination, it's never going to win anything.

  • I loved Oppenheimer and definetely think it deserves best picture, but man, that JFK namedrop was so awkward. Like they could have just has Stauss' aid just casually list the three senators that killed his nomination, but no, they had to build it up like a huge cheer moment: "Some Senator from Massachusetts trying to make a name for himself, John F Kennedy" (which isn't even true, BTW, Kennedy was already well known by then) Glad honest trailers called that out. It really did feel like an MCU moment.

    • Megamind is amazing. It has just gotten better with age, and it was so much better than Despicable Me. And I just learned that they made a sequel, watched the trailer now and was horrified at it.

  • The Screen Junkies rundown of Killer of the Flower Moon was pretty accurate. The acting is good, and the characters are complex. Also, the story is depressingly accurate, and needs to be told. The only really bad thing about this film is its runtime. This was a story that did not need to be told over a period of 3-1/2 hours; 1.5 hours would have been plenty.
