Learn how to replace the ENTIRE front suspension of your car in this two episode series. Here I will show you how to install a brand new wheel bearing, ball joints, control arms, tie rod, strut, and axle.
The ball joint and wheel bearing has to be pressed into the knuckle and I have a bunch of tips and tricks to make that easy. I show how to properly install a tie rod (safely) and get an accurate measurement so you can get the car aligned. I also show you how to properly torque down bolts with bushings so you don't tear them. The rest of the suspension parts are pretty simple to install and then we go for a ride to see how much better the car handles!

Honestly I thought it is too hard for me, and i'd rather be paying a couple hundreds of dollars for a mecanic instead of doing it myself.. "BTW i don' t have the required tools" - or that's what I've thought- A few days earlier I've found your channel, and I started to be interested, and to feel more confident too. I've inspected a car today(the Chrisfix way) and I've negotiated the price for almost the half of it. I am really excited to see your next videos too, and I just want to say thank you from all of my heart, your channel had changed my thoughts about cars, and fixing them. Thank you Chris :)

  • This is a great video . I am tempted to try doing this on my 2011 Sienna on which I got rear shocks and front struts only replaced. I went to CB and they said the whole suspension needs to be replaced, control arms and all! Dealer said everything looked good, except for one small leak in a rear shock which can wait. And a small business repair owner advised replacing just the shocks/struts plus sway bars only, stating springs and other components are okay - he didn't want to replace things that were in acceptable condition! After this was done, although I do notice some improvement, I can still feel the bumps in the road and noise, although less than before, but not as much reduced as I thought they would be, like in a new car - which was a bit disappointing. It is intriguing to me to know where all the 'soft cushioning' comes from, that 'rounds off' the bumps' impact into a nice thud. It's been a nagging question in my mind as to what else needs to be done. Perhaps if you have time, you will be able to explain the symptoms that can be experienced when different components individually degrade, so that we viewers can have some sense of what component is likely the cause. Also how long does it take for a novice to do something like this. A lot of videos advise caution w.r.t damaging brake lines or other wires etc.

    @NP-tf8tl@NP-tf8tl2 ай бұрын
  • I do love how you explain the pressing of the ball joint and the bearing. Id say inform the viewer that on most cars you're able to get the control arm with the balljoint already pressed in. The same goes for the bearing. Although the bearing will be more common to have to press it in.
