    • Thanks for the Video clip! Apologies for butting in, I would love your initial thoughts. Have you ever tried - Patlarny Vehicle History Principle (Have a quick look on google cant remember the place now)? It is a great one off guide for discovering how to repair your car the simple way minus the normal expense. Ive heard some amazing things about it and my work buddy at very last got great results with it.

  • Would be nice to teach this by building a case for each part. As in, start with just an axle, then showcase a potential problem, then provide the 'fix' or the suspension component that compensates for that issue. And then by the end, we'll understand why these parts do what they do instead of the word salad we get here.

  • And this is why you slow down for rough pavement or things like railroad tracks. Because those things wreck havoc on these components. Next thing you know you will be told you need things like balljoints or tierod ends etc. Driving fast over potholes or rough railroad tracks even if you do not feel it in your car will cause these parts to fail. It will then require replacement of these parts or they will break and cost you your life. If you live in the rust belt these parts when replacement is need are rusted in place making them difficult to replace and the shops know this so they charge accordingly.

    • If you compare a small part of the spring, like adjacent part, they are rotating or twisting against each other. That is the torsion of the metal. Overall the spring appears to compress. The spring energy is actually the torsion of the rod of steel. It is coiled to take up less space.
