World-famous detective Benoit Blanc heads to Greece to peel back the layers of a mystery surrounding a tech billionaire and his eclectic crew of friends.
Daniel Craig should get an award for this or something, the versatility on his acting is spectacular to watch.
Absolutely, Janelle should win an award too!
Daniel Craig was nominated for a Golden Globe.
@@SPORT2932 that's fantastic to know.
I still think Ana de Armas was robbed by only winning like one relatively minor award for her acting performance in Knives Out. She was fantastic, especially in the scene in Harlan's study.
@@fairy5668 Totally agree! Her silent acting on the steps outside of Harlan's study was award winning in my book. She has a great future.
Dave Bautista is so dedicated to his craft and to movie making in general. Always hyped to be there, always excited for the different technical intricacies etc. Such a joyful actor
he's a completely different person than he was when he was on WWE. It's insane how his acting stepped up this much he's so much fun to watch in anything he's involved in
And love to see how open and enthusiastic he is to learn! He wants to become an even better actor and it shows
He's got that big, tough-looking, yet soft-spoken thing going on that leads you to believe he's a big ol' teddy bear. I bet he gives great hugs.
Wow I feel like I’ve never heard Daniel Craig’s real actual voice before. Even his James Bond sounds different!
Janelle is a treasure. Their chemistry with Daniel was fantastic!
They have phenomenal energy together. It would be so so good to see them in another movie together again.
Can we talk about how in one of the flashback scenes Miles looks *exactly* like Tom Cruises character in Magnolia?? Same outfit, hair, everything. And when you consider what that character was like, it explains a lot about Miles. Also he's dressed exactly like Steve Jobs in another flashback scene later on. Showing that he truly has no personality or tastes of his own and takes from others.
This! Plus I think Janelle was also channeling TC with the l want the truth line! When I saw Norton with this look I jumped, TC and Norton are my two favorites!
@@nataliamisixroni5447 haha totally! When I saw the TC outfit on Miles I was like that meme of Leo Dicaprio sitting forward in a chair pointing at the screen 😂 I was so excited, I love little details like that and I especially love that it was never acknowledged by anyone in the movie, it was just for the people in the audience who got it.
Rian's said in interviews that the idea came from Ed Norton and Jenny Eagan; when he found out about it apparently thought "Paul's gonna kill me". Such a funny reference and the idea of young Miles being a Frank TJ Mackey devotee is just great. Also absolutely love the upside-down Rothko painting he has!
@@fingerprince_ I love that! 😄 Thanks for the info 👍 Paul Thomas Anderson should be stoked, it says a lot about his talent and cultural impact that he can create such instantly recognizable characters that people are still referencing decades later.
@@Qu33nMary444 I was watching this "Writer's Roundtable" (kzhead.info/sun/m9dplJuxo2R3gZs/bejne.html) the other day which included Rian Johnson and when asked which living writer they most admire, PTA was the answer for half the writers there. Ranking artists based on "greatness" or whatever is silly, but Anderson's films hold a special place in my heart and it's lovely how much his genius is appreciated in the film world.
God I really hope Glass Onion gets a proper Blu-Ray release. It deserves it.
Hope so too. I enjoyed the commentary track on Knives Out.
What’s special about that?
people still use blu-ray??
@@Sky-pg8jm People who actually care about owning and preserving movies do, a concept you're apparently unfamiliar with
@@chief5611 That is a very rude phrasing wtf lol? I'm not surprised that people want physical copies of movies, I'm surprised that blu-ray specifically still exists because growing up I thought it'd be a fad and we'd just keep using normal dvds.
I swear janelle had better win a damn award for this movie, imo she shows everyone up, just spectacular.
She was a scene stealer!
This is not an award film. It was good but not spectacular.
@@mith2946 Rian Johnson is the best murder mystery writer of our day. The top selling authors of all time are God (The Bible), Shakespeare, and then Agatha Christie, a murder mystery writer. If there’s a genre to win awards, it’s this one, and if there’s a movie to win in the genre, it’s this one.
@@PartiallyC0rrect I agree that it was a really good movie, and I liked it a lot, like, a ton, and the raw and sheer artistic talent at/and/on display here is simply unbelievable/unreal. That said, for some reason, it didn't really "click" for me, and I'm not sure why. Maybe it was the "dumb"ness of the core mystery that maybe had potential but in the end is really hard to dress up as something it isn't, sort of a rotting core of a story at the inside of this abso-freaking-lutely gorgeous outer crystalline shell. Maybe that's it. And with _that_ said, I definitely want this director to go on doing more in more genres. The first was a true delight that did get a lot closer to "click"ing with me (and I think it pretty much mostly did!), but I'd rather have genre exploration and expansion than guaranteed mediocre hits each time, so the risk of Glass Onion was well worth it. Agatha Christie on the other hand...I never felt entirely robbed by the story when I read it. One of my greatest prides is figuring out ~20%-26% of a truly gnarly mystery (the "on the links" one, I think) with sheer note taking and Poirot -esque conjecturing. I'm very proud of that, and I enjoy the challenge of Christie knowing that there's a way to truly figure it out with the information given, but also that the story is a real challenge that is well worth my time and energy to invest in.
agreed she had to do 3 roles, andi, helen, and helen acting as andi, and she did an amazing job at it
Donut, onion, what's next? Already excited for future sequels!
Avacado
Tangerine!
pineapple
Roots
Peach
Janelle’s final scene is sooo good. Every time she acts, she radiates on screen. She blew me away in Hidden Figures (Taraji gets most of the well-deserved love for that movie but Janelle was phenomenal) and I’m just so obsessed with seeing her on film.
that and Moonlight both sold me that Janelle can act. I am happy to see her choosing her films wisely. Can't wait to see her turn as Josephine Baker and reuniting with A24 for the limited series on her. I know she will make Lynn Whitfield (who played Baker in the HBO TV movie) proud.
I'm so glad we got to hear the thoughts and insights of the "behind the scenes" crew. Hearing from the production designer was the most intriguing for me, especially to hear how they built the glass onion "room"! I love that they are giving the crew time to shine in these behind the scenes clips, cause i think the actors were amazing in this movie but my respect goes out to the entire crew & director who definitely put so much thought put into this entire film. Brilliant!
Totally agree! The costume design was absolutely *fascinating* to me
I’m super interested to see how Dave Bautista’s career develops, he’s so hungry and ready to work on his craft. Please Hollywood give him diverse scripts and don’t typecast him!
I love that the comment section is filled with praises for each individual actor. It’s really unusual and speaks volumes about the film.
I don't care how many knives out movies they make or even if they make series or spin offs, I'll watch all of them if they all have Benoa Blanc as the main character.
Well you've just made me more excited about more movies with this Southern gent 🤣
but blanc isnt the main character in either movie lol
i want 7
@@soondslash ehhhhhhh lol
Benoit.
we need more movies like this. what a skillfully crafted master piece. this deserves more than a trilogy.
The knives out series are so great I can’t wait for the third
I hope there'll be a third one!
Can't wait for the tenth and twelveth.
@@anbu1325 Netflix has Rian for at *least* a third, plus another movie which may as well be a fourth :D
Rian really wanted it called A Benoit Blanc Mystery but Netflix went with A Knives Out Mystery
I loved leslie in this movie. His character was so chilling
I didn’t realize it was him until the credits. His vibe was just so different.
Who's Leslie?
@@cockbenny734 lionel
@@cockbenny734 Mr Odom Jr 🥰 He played Lionel the scientist
I hope There are so many more of these films - they've been such a breath of fresh air cinematically.
Even though Daniel Craig delivered an accent that was not on the page, it couldn't be more perfect. The dialogue is so very Shakespearean, or perhaps Oscar Wilde, that it needs a formality, and he picked the most formal American accent there is.
Rian Johnson could arguably win best director for every movie he's directed.
Yes
IMO, Daniel Craig should get an Oscar. He is the best guy in this Universe.
huh
Dude I am so mindblown by the production design… they built a literal glass onion?!!
I would like to add I did on the initial first watch notice Norton hand his drink to Batista , and was like why share drinks.. and yelled “poison!”….. sure enough… hahaha
Me too and I pointed it out to my husband. Glad I got to see this in the theater and just sharing the experience with others was amazing
Same! I was confused when miles said duke accidentally took the cup
Loved this film sooo much!!! Also Daniel Craig is having WAAAAAY TOOO MUCH FUN with this role!! MORE PLEASE!!!
Loved being able to enjoy Edward Norton on a movie again, love the guy so much, hope we can see more of him he totally deserves it ❤
He definitely enjoyed working on this movie. This happens when good actor meets good director and script.
The third movie should have the subtitle "A Glass Onion Mystery"
👆 underrated comment
It won't be.
Both movies should retroactively get the caption "A Benoit Blanc Mystery" instead.
Janelle Monae was exceptional in this
the movie was so! much! fun! and such an amazing story! haven’t been so immersed and so interested in a movie in sooooo long!
Honestly. I didn't even watch the first one. But I decided to check this one out. I absolutely loved it and rewatched as soon as the credits rolled. It was fun and reminded me of all the classic whodunit books I used to binge.
Have you gone back and watch the first one now? It's worth it
One of the best movies of 2022
This was a well-produced, well-edited behind-the-scenes!
I was sad I never got to see it on theaters. I hope the release the third installment soon.
YESS A LONGER BEHIND THE SCENES, FINALLY!!!
One of the best movies in 2022, so entertaining and funny. The cast and writing is terrific, cool set and production.
Now I see Daniel Craig no longer as Bond, but Benoit Blanc 🤣 many many thumbs for him 👍
Absolutely loved this movie!
a classic franchise two films in 🤷🏽♂️🤷🏽♂️🔥🔥🔥
Awesome breakdown, i love to see this type of behind the scene. Everyone did a great job
Rian Johnson sounds so much like Edward Norton. Every time he's talking before the camera cuts to him, I keep thinking Ed Norton is speaking.
I loved this movie. I saw it having not seen the original. I watched the original after and I liked that as well but I think this one was better. Can't wait for more like this. Great work.
Whoever edited this video did a stellar job. Very fun Edit
It's very interesting what they cut or blurred out of the film clips in this featurette, presumably to not give too much away
This is my favorite movie series! I am so excited for the new one!
One of my favorite scenes was the laptop call lol so many little Easter egg characters.
Ok now I really *really* want to see/hear what Rian and Nathan did with a DiscMan and the Hook soundtrack way back when.
A new classic. I did not hate the first movie. Knives Out was awesome. But I have not had thoughts of watching it again and again. Glass Onion I have watched twice and multiple reaction videos on the movie. Thinking of watching it again soon.
I want a whole series with benoit blanc these movies are so damn good
This is great! A full commentary would be amazing!
please netflix do that
There’s one on Spotify
i am so excited at the idea that we’re gonna get many more benoit blanc movies 🥳🥳🥳
soo thankful for the inclusion of the editing part 😭
13:26 That cut had me rolling 🤣
Absolutely love Rian Johnstones Columbo shirt! Totally see Columbo in Blanc
I can’t wait for another sequel and Rian’s Star Wars trilogy😊😊😊😊😊
The next one should take place in a touristy big city in Asia.
Hope rian plans on making a 3rd. knives out and glass onion are genuinely some of the best films I've seen in the last decade, and it's crazy because i never cared for murder mystery movies before hand.
Daniel Craig 100% deserve an award for that Foghorn Leghorn impression
I just really want one of those puzzle boxes!!
Great film and great twist! I loved it!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Batista was fantastic as Duke
Love this movie
Great one!
That rainbow dress is just WOW!
he definitely succeeded in making an amazing movie and an amazing ending 😄
Lovely! Great to have this BTS featurette. Can we get some commentary on the movie like we did for Knives Out on disc?
There’s one on Spotify
I was hella confused in the beginning, because you get thrown into the story immediately, when watching it with my mom but damn, the movie was so much fun.
yay! 30 minute behind the scenes
VERY GOOD MOVIE HUGE
Put it back in theatres!!
Benoit has a very 'Sherlock' feel... the 'losing it' between cases really plays that out.
He's an homage to many Great Detective characters of the past. You can also see a lot of the disarming goofiness of Hercule Poirot in him too, for example.
Looking forward to Knives Out 3 after this :)
Everyone was actually really funny in this movie! I enjoyed it thoroughly!
i desperately need more benoit blanc movies
Cannot be grateful enough that they reached out to and canonized Murder She Wrote’s legend, Angela Lansbury, into the world of Knives Out. It was such a treat to see one of my favorite sleuths one final time on the big screen 🥰🥹
Can't wait for Crystal Lettuce!
So good
amazing ❤🎉
People who don’t like this movie I think are just people who won’t ever like a sequel because it’s a sequel. I feel like this movie was perfect in using the same tropes (or parallel ones) as the first movie, while still feeling so new and fresh
Benoit's outfit standout for me in the movie. I like it.
This films an all time classic, easy.
I'm so jealous of these actors! Honestly this would be my dream!
can you add subtitles please since im deaf and i cant follow without subtitles
Jenny did a great job! Loved the fits
I must be missing something but that scene where everyone's on the dock in the beginning, why didn't the boat staff question an extra person not on the guest list, as well as have a vaccine dose and room key wristband for him? Surely the staff would have a guest list or a set amount of items. Maybe everyone was given a plus one and only Birdie used hers on Peg and the staff didn't want to question the guests (?) or I guess everything is explained by Miles being an idiot.
There are so many plotholes in this movie it's like a Swiss cheese.
rian, I am fully expecting a spring season knives out and a winter one. please deliver!
onions, donuts…. seasons.. the cast…. He got alot to think on lol
JANELLE IS SO AUGHHNNNNNMMMPHH 😩😩
WHY IS EDWARDILY SHIRTLESS IN THAT PAINTING HELPPP OH YM😭😭😭
First time i saw Janelle on grammy, she is very beautiful.
I missed DVD extras like this
16:38 love that they blurred Kanye's mural 😁 they should blur it in the movie too!
I'm just surprised Hasbro allowed Clue to be called a terrible game.
Kate Hudson is incredible
can someone pleaseee tell me what shoes daniel craig has on during scenes where his outfit matches that of the one at 2:57??
“This can’t Shazam its a lamp.” Honestly one of the funniest movies I’ve seen in awhile!!!
Whenever I see Daniel Craig in suit, I always see him as James bond
hoping and a praying for a Knives Out/Muppets crossover
i want ethan hawke in the next one
He's in this one. You mean you want him in the next one in a bigger role.
@@Largentina. No shit, everyone knows that's what he means Captain Obvious.
Please bring the first movie, Knives Out, to Netflix USA.
“Halle Berry!”
One thing I can’t wrap my head around is Helen receiving the invitation box to begin with. I understand the murder happened within a short time frame of the weekend getaway, but why didn’t Miles just withhold the box after murdering Andy? Then again, as I write this out, “Miles Bron is an idiot”.
It's actually one of his smartest moves. Invite the person you killed, so it's less suspicious. Why would you send a card to someone you know is dead? But he also made it a murder party right after committing murder, so his smarts kinda even out on that
There are two theories about this: 1) Miles sent Andi's invitation out after killing her (along with the ones to the other Disrupters) to allay suspicion, to pretend as if he didn't know anything was wrong and that he was at the island the whole time. 2) He sent the invitation out _before_ he killed Andi (he mentions it was a rush job), and it took so long to get to her house it arrived after she was dead and Helen was there to pick it up.
From the yacht scene, it seemed Bron and the disruptors knew Andy were typically invited to these getaways. Lionel said to Blanc, “it’s not why she was invited. It’s why did she show up”. By withholding the box, Miles could’ve prevented Helen and blanc from showing up to meddle. The news came out eventually, but the getaway was a way for him to hush up the disruptors. Miles was just blindsided by his own creation because he didn’t take enough precautions to cover his tracks. Didn’t take into consideration Helen would be around.
It's pretty clever to invite the person you just murdered to a party, because it implies you didn't even know they were dead.
Because she said it showed up 2 days after her sister died, I assumed he sent it before the murder took place, just to be an asshole, and didn’t bother to stop the delivery because cancelling her delivery before the death was announced would just expose he knew she was dead, because he killed her.
Ok, is no one going to mention Daniel playing the bongo drums on the butt statue? Seriously ? ;-)
6:42 - janelle’s dress clips over her left shoulder then at 6:44 it’s over her right shoulder. Is that a mirror filming view? Or one of the rare Hollywood errors?
Different dresses. One is black/white the other has red in it
She does wear a red, white and black dress too. But this is the same black and white dress.
its a mirror view, look at her hairline. It switches from right to left from 6:42 to 6:44. The correct way is her hairline to the left as that's how it is during the film. Its just the behind the scenes clip was mirrored in editing most likely cause it was more aesthetically pleasing to have the actress on the right side of our vision during the video.
I figured that the one was Andi and the other one Helen. They made them mirrors of each other.
