“This is jeopardy”. Then that empty stage. Chills. Made me tear up.
Me too
I completely feel for the people close to Mr. Trebek, my mom passed away in 2020 too. :(
@@notthatdigusted7468 My mom passed closely later in February 2021 from stage IV *lung* cancer
Alex Trebek left a void that I don't think will ever be filled. I'll miss him.
You’re exactly right. I’ll miss him too 😭
No one can replace him. I mean no one can.
Ken Jennings is a likely candidate for being the new host but he can never match Alex’s legacy.
... or Will Farrell
Even though I never met him he still meant something to someone that is why its so sad when someone passes away.
You could hear the emotion in his voice. What a nice tribute to a wonderful man. We were lucky to have such an inspirational, intelligent man doing such good work for such a long time. He will be missed.
He was holding back tears
This was very moving. You could tell Mike Richards was fighting back tears. It was appropriate that they dimmed the stage lights in the end.
Back then during the 1990s; the SNL (Saturday Night Live) cast and crew members, scoffed at Alex Trebek and the real life 'Jeopardy' TV game show contestants. Here's what Alex Trebek said to them; "I can't actually begin to believe that, you guys are a bunch of dimwits!"
When those lights dimmed. Man.
😭
😭😭😭
No kidding! That's when I lost it.
It’s so sad, Alex was loved by millions of people jeopardy will never be the same without him.

No it sure won’t
I haven’t been watching Jeopardy lately after his passing... T-T
Ken Jennings in my opinion is the only human being alive that might even have a chance of being a good fit. Thanks for the memories Alex. Rest easy sir.
I fully agree with you

I'm in tears. I'm young enough that jeopardy has been running for my entire life. The show was my favorite part of the day even since I was 7. I'm in tears right now and I'm comforted by the fact that he had a long, happy, successful life, but I am going to miss him so much. I hope they no longer make jeopardy episodes because it could never be the same without him. Rest in peace.
Yeah. He was so cool.
He was a national treasure we never deserved to adopt. He made us feel smarter. He made us BE smarter. Thank you.
Since the final episode will be aired on Christmas Day and families won't be able to go to the movies because of COVID, how about we all sit down and watch Jeopardy! together? Should be the highest viewership ever.
R.I.P to Alex Trebek. He was the best T.V. game show host.

An irreplaceable icon was lost. Jeopardy will NEVER be the same
I’m not ready to say goodbye🥺🥺😢😢it’s just so surreal.
When you’re that good at what you do for that long, you become synonymous with your craft. Entire generations will equate Jeopardy with Alex no matter who the hosts are in the future for as long as the show runs. He didn’t create the show, he didn’t own the show, and he didn’t direct the show. But he was the show.
Mike Richards almost cried when he was delivered that eulogy for Alex Trebek and after he said that stuff he had to say about Alex Trebek and the studio half lit and dimmed to honor the late Alex Trebek and I always remember him for as long as I live on and actually it was a statement from the staff of the show itself that we were lucky enough to have him on television because he was smart and very proud of his honesty about anything
You can tell he was really about to burst into tears. He did such an amazing job paying his respects. We will all miss Alex deeply.
Did you notice that; this was the very first time I ever seen, the entire 'Jeopardy' TV game show studio empty? If you'll also notice; Alex Trebek could've been wise enough to retire, from the 'Jeopardy' TV game show studio. He should've searched for a brand new host. It's just like my father; George D. Shelton; whom had to retire, from the Aptos California Safeway. Back then in March first, 1998. He worked for Safeway for 36 years merely.
RIP Alex. You will be missed. Nobody could replace him.
Goodbye, Alex. Thanks for the memories. As you always said at the end of every episode, "So long." George Alexander "Alex" Trebek July 22, 1940-November 8, 2020

This VERY touching tribute left me in tears. RIP Alex and thanks for the endless cherished memories. The studio fading to black at the end said so much in silence.
Thank you so much for sharing this. The entire country is hurting right now :(
Alex Trebek was the best of us Canadians....you will be missed! You made sitting with my grandparents fun back in the day. We would compete to see which of us could answer the most questions. Thanks for the memories...R.I.P ALEX. All the best to his wife and family.
Of all the gameshow host ever to be seen on television he is the one who the world knows and will always remember ....he was well spoken and a perfect gentleman...his persona radiated such a kind and caring image that you didn’t have to know him to believe it...he was not like a father figure but rather a warm and loving big brother type of person...but what I like most about Alex was that he always maintained a respectable image in how he dealt with the contestants and how he executed the show.....may his soul be blessed forever....his life was a gift to the world 🙏🏼
Mike Richards, you gave a PHENOMENAL farewell to Alex. Well done! It was/is my ritual to watch Jeopardy for over 45 years. Alex, was the BEST game show host, EVER!!! Well said Michael! May Alex Rest In Peace! God Bless
He fought untill the very end and never lost hope
I cried the second he said “we lost our beloved host, Alex Trebek”. I watched jeopardy every single day for the past year and a half before covid. It was one of the only things in my life that made me happy and made me feel smart and like I was useful in a sense. I cried last night watching SNL, where they had a little tribute. They had the infamous blue screen with “This man was the greatest game show host of all time” followed by “Who is... Alex Trebek”. I teared up. I haven’t been able to process his death, because despite the low survival rates, his positive spirits had given me so much hope for his recovery. I’m just glad he wasn’t suffering. He had his family around him and died peacefully, leaving behind a great legacy.❤️
I figured that they would do some sort of tribute - either before or after the episode. I think this was very well done. I thought the lights on the set fading out at the end was very cool. A perfect ending.
We love you Alex. There are no words to describe how much you meant to all of us. It takes a very special man to make everyone that watched you feel like you were their friend. What a gift that truly is. The show can search the world over for a host but they will never be able to come close to what we had in you. Rest in Peace my Friend.

I watched this live on the air last night..... when they dimmed the lights on the empty stage that's when me and my family lost it. I would not be opposed to naming this studio after Alex. After all, he's been the the only host to grace that set for 36+ years.

I was a young 4 year old immigrant in 1988 and the first show I have ever watched was Jeopardy. Although I couldn’t understand a word of English it was a ritual for me and my brother to sit infront of the TV with our dinner and watch. I learned English from your show and the subjects sparked up curiosity. I will forever feel this void.

Jeopardy was my favorite game show, my family would often play together as we watched on tv... RIP Alex Trebek, gone but never forgotten
I normally don't cry when someone famous passed away but this one made me cried since I was just remembering when Alex was standing on his podium. Especially seeing how emotional Mike Richards got when he no longer sees his great mentor and friend standing at his podium. A great man with a great heart. Now he's in a better place with God where he is no longer in pain. My prayers go out to his loved ones, and colleagues that were by his side during his battle with this terrible disease. This year has taken great TV legends, 250,000 lives due to this virus, and my aunt, who passed away back in May at age 64. At least this gentleman like he mentioned in one interview, "I lived a hell of a good life." And he lived all the way to 80 years old. I will definitely see his final episode on Christmas day. His desire for knowledge is what got me to not give up and finish college and now I teach social studies to high school students and I love it. We will always love you Alex Trebek.
Crazy how someone I never met affected me when passing we were born in the same city probably even the same hospital
