Alex Trebek’s Final Episode Of ‘Jeopardy!’ Ends With Touching Tribute | TODAY

  • Alex Trebek to me is like that one college professor you had who made an impact in your life, who pushed you try harder, who made you want to sit in the front row, who made class fun. You've already passed his class, yet now you've re taken his class every semester just for the humble feeling. And now class is finally over. This mini tribute is great but breaks my heart.

  • I dropped out of college in 1982. I had to start looking for a job to pay back my GSL's and I started working first shift in a hospital from 6:00 A.M. to 3:00 P.M. I would get home from work just in time to watch Jeopardy. I remember when Alex Trebek first started hosting the show. He was funny, witty, thoughtful, smart and above all else--he was kind. It was like he was made to host that show. I watched Jeopardy with my husband's grandmother (who was sharp up until she died at 93) and my mother until the day she passed away. I had such wonderful times and made wonderful memories watching Jeopardy with my Grandma and mother. Alex Trebek made those times extra special. Rest in Peace. • Curious if that "god" you're praying to is the same one that sat back and watched him die of cancer, that "god'? I hear your "god" is all-powerful, right? So it chose to watch Alex suffer and die rather than help, right? I mean if I could have cured Alex with nothing more than a thought but just watched him die wouldn't you think I was a monster? Why does your "god" do the same thing, letting us ALL suffer and die, yet you give it a pass and even worship it? And how did you determine there is a "god", let alone which of the 2000+ "gods" it is? Is it Thor? Zeus? Yahwey? Vishnu? Hera? Ra? (I bet it's Thor right? Those movies are great!) It's funny, every time I ask someone this, every single time, they attack me for asking. That's so odd to me, that someone would attack someone else for asking questions, I'm sure you won't do that, right? (sadly I'm sure you will but we'll see, you'll likely just ignore me too).

    • @@ross-carlson Dear Ross. Sounds like you ARE searching for a God to believe in. If you let go of the bitterness and cynicism, and learn to focus on what you are seaking, you WILL find it. GOD never hides from those who seek Him. Asking around wont help you because Everyone has their own PERSONAL relationship with God. When you Do Find Him, come back and let's us know. That's your own journey. If you seek you will find.

  • Alex Trebek left a legacy to be proud of. Movie stars and entertainment icons come and go, but his true gift to his fans was bringing families together. For thousands of half-hours over the years, children and parents and grandparents shared that most precious commodity, time together. As remarkable, Jeopardy episodes don't age. The questions and answers remain of interest to future generations. God bless his family and, of course, him.

Here we are years after his passing and I haven't watched an episode since he was the host. I've been trying to because my children and I watched Jeopardy as a family, but I can't wrap my mind around the fact that someone other than Alex will be hosting. Maybe some day I'll have the strength to watch again.

I always envied Alex because this man hade found his central purpose. His destiny. There was no other place for Mr. Trebek other than acting as the Jeopardy host. It is true. Some folks cannot be replaced. This counters the thought that "anyone can be replaced". This man could never be replaced until his death. The show depended on his involvement 100%. Not saying his production team wasn't awesome as well. but if any single person carried a lot of weight, it would be Alex Trebek.

      @VianoMusicAcademy@VianoMusicAcademy3 жыл бұрын
    • That's not a typo. In the classical Latin alphabet, there is no distinction between "U" and "V". It eventually split into two different letters to serve its different functions. It's the reason that the letter pronounce as "double U" actually looks like a "double V" (W). It's also the reason that Brits pronounce Lieutenant as "lef-tenant" while Americans pronounce it "lou-tenant". A lot of classical architecture will tend to honor traditions like the "V" depiction of the "U" and the use of Roman numerals to convey the year the building was built.
