Alex Trebek gave a simple yet powerful statement as to what he wanted his legacy to be after the iconic game show host was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer last spring. Trebek told “Entertainment Tonight” in May 2019 that he wanted to be remembered “just as a good guy.” Trebek, the host of "Jeopardy!" for nearly 40 years, died Sunday after battling pancreatic cancer. He was 80 years old. Trebek is survived by his wife, with whom he spent the final day of his life, just as he’d said he wanted to. #InsideEdition
Alex was a trooper. He hosted the show up until 10 days before he died. You could tell he was in an incredible amount of pain, yet he fought through it and never gave up. R.I.P Alex.

NOBODY, can’t replace Alex he’s hosted the show Jeopardy for over 30 years and it’ll never be the same without him. Rest In Peace to this great man and iconic legend.
It actually hurts me that he’s gone now. I used to watch him as a kid and now it feels weird that I’m having this sad feeling about him. He was a legend in a way I didn’t even realize til now. Usually as a kid, I’d think of him as a normal TV show and had no emotions for him to me being actually upset of someone who was there in my TV now being gone forever 🥺
*Nobody can Saying "nobody can't" is a double negative, which means someone can.
Tonika I agree 100%
I am enjoying watching Jeopardy with Ken Jennings. He's doing a bang up job and ALWAYS ends the show with "Thank you, Alex". On another note, I still watch Jeopardy at 8:30 (Mountain Time) with Alex hosting it.
He was America’s favorite. His soul will be really missed. RIP. He can’t be replaced. I hope he’s in a better place. I saw him on television days before he died. You could see he was struggling but still never gave up and fought. His soul will surely be missed
He was Canada’s favourite too. He was born 4 hours away from where I was born and currently live. Northern Ontario is very proud of her son ❤️🇨🇦❤️
Rest in peace alex

I worked with and knew him for four decades... He was everything you thought he was and more. He loved knowledge and learning was kind, understanding and yes a perfectionist. The day is just not as bright without him... in his memory tell someone you love them... he would like that.
What was your relation to him?
He's not dead he's in heaven.
You KNEW him?! Wow! He really WAS like how he was on camera? What you see on TV is what you see off camera?
He was an amazing person for fighting cancer for so long... He got to spend his last moments how he wanted. Everyone knows his name whether they watch Jeopardy or not, he will always be remembered. Rest In Peace Alex.

I cried big time when I heard the news, and I have never mourned the loss of a TV host. Alex inspired me to get back in the game with my education and to be the best version of myself. He was very much a mentor to millions of other viewers like myself. Coming from someone who doesn't place much value on celebrities, that really says a lot about Alex and the impact he had on his viewers. He will be sorely missed.
He had so much class; I forgot him announcing his Stage 4 status last year. He never played "the victim".

Death doesn’t scare me. Being forgotten is what scares me.
Everyone will eventually be forgotten.
I think unless you were a truly notable historical figure who had a major impact on any historical events, you're most likely going to be forgotten after your time has passed. That's the sad reality for most people
To be forgotten it's a matter of time, it doesn't matter how historically famous you were, that just extend the time you'll be forgotten, think about this, we don't know how and why the pirámides were built despite the fact that all the time a city was next to them, simply everybody forgot, time is the real enemy!
