  • This sketch perfectly illustrates that people are more separated by class than by race. Hilarious and ballsy.

    • HAH!! Exactly...United Arab Emirates: I know who they are in this soap opera but I had a blank spot the other day. I was watching a commercial and Jennifer Anniston was doing a commercial for Emmerites Airlines. She never or I hardly ever see her do commercials. It was just one of those weird things that just didnt sit right. Isnt that airline owned by Saudi Arabia? It didnt sit right, weird.

    • My take away is that people are 90% the same but the rest of the 10% really start defining who we are, in a lot of ways. This is why all the contestants were equally picking off the answers throughout the game show and why, when it came to Final Black Jeopardy, Doug was clearly going to lose and the host and other contestants clearly took issue with it. Black people feel marginalized and the single white guy couldn't see it from this perspective. But, I definitely agree with you that this was hilarious and ballsy.

    • David Lor Let me ask you something. Since the installment (or election) of the countless black aldermen/women in the black neighborhoods, how much better have those neighborhoods fared economically, safety, and crime wise? Was there the improvement that was supposed to have been seen? I havent seen it. It just looks to me that the only blacks that had an improvement were those elected and their own inner circles. The rest stayed the same.

      @Smok-wu3nq@Smok-wu3nq7 жыл бұрын
    • David Lor your comment just goes back to Berk's original point that people are actually separated by class and not by race.... If a black person feels marginalized it is largely because of some notion instilled into them from this idea of being part of a "black community" that is separate from the mainstream American culture at large. The political class both fosters and utilizes this exactly so that it can create the conditions where we believe ourselves, as a society, to be separated by race. So in a way we really are separated by race, at least apparently, but this separation is artificial and contrived having been created so that we don't become wise to the fact that it is only class that is separating us, naturally, in truth, in our so-called "classless society". This is why working class people of all races intuitively understand that the game is rigged and they are being conspired against. The real conspiracy is, of course, nothing like they imagine, but what they imagine has been fueled by the unconscious awareness of what is really happening to them.

    • I see the same change in other communities as well. What do you suppose is the culprit to this lack of change? And how can we address it?

    • @@mindyschocolate What cracks me up about that word "hick" is that most of y'all have no idea what livin in the rural south is even like. Go to the barber shop and see black and white folk sittin around shootin the breeze. Go to the river, pond or lake and you'll see white and black folk fishin and knockin back a few beers together shit talkin each other seein who's gonna catch the biggest. It's actually a shock for most of us when we venture out of our little neck of the woods and head up north or west for a vacation to places like NYC, Chicago, Cali & etc and all we see is black and white folk at each other's throats. It's not lost on us down here that whenever someone wants to portray a racist they immediately dawn a terrible southern accent but what's funny is all these hate crimes, police shootings and etc seem to be taking place in primarily non-southern areas..... more often than not they're in Democrat/Leftist controlled areas. Places where "hicks" aren't located.
