ET spoke with ‘Jeopardy!’ executive producer Mike Richards on Sunday, following the death of the show’s long time host, Alex Trebek. Richards opened up about Trebek’s final days of life as he continued hosting the game show and spending time with his loved ones.

Yeah I know, I had to watch my dad have a horrible death from pancreatic cancer. It's extremely painful!. All we could do was give him morphine for the pain.
@@amakuaole I am incredibly sorry for your loss. I wish you and your family peace and healing. I hope someday doctors will stop ignoring those of us slowly dying of pancreatitis and missing the cancer until it is too late. They can and must do better by their patients.

I went to dozens of doctors starting in high school and went undiagnosed and three years ago at age 55 i could no longer eat because of the pain or digest food without enzymes and the doctors still ignored it. Only when my kidneys began to fail did they send me to an oncologist and still they didn't help me in time. There are no good answers for pancreatitis but if they remove the pancreas like they commonly remove the gall bladder a patient like me could avoid cancer, be out of excruciating pain and live with a combination of dialysis, enzymes, and insulin. Its ugly and difficult and it sucks but better than a straight up death sentence.

I cried all the way through tonight's episode of Jeopardy 💔 Alex was such an outstanding person. He felt like family. My Mom and I watched Jeopardy together for so many years. We had so many laughs because I really wasn't smart enough to play, she's the one who got the answers right. This touched me so deeply because Alex Trebek was one of her favorite people and mine too. I lost my Mother to cancer on the same exact day eleven years ago. Sending My Prayers to Alex's family and friends 🙏 and to all that loved him 💜 I know a good game of Jeopardy is being played in heaven. God Bless Much

I, too, love that Alex had a good last day. I'm very pleased he was surrounded by his family and that he knew throughout the whole process that he is loved not just by his family, but by the world. It helps us all, I think, to know he was at peace. My deepest condolences to his wife and children. I truly hope they find comfort and solace.

What a great man. My mother was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and she would always watch him.. I think she was inspired by his battle with pancreatic cancer as well

We had to know it was coming. He was getting older and was basically handed a death sentence. It's amazing he lasted as long as he did. And it doesn't take the sting or the shock away at all. Jeopardy will never be the same. If they're still having the show, I'm not watching, no disrespect to whoever is unlucky enough to be given the task of filling Alex's shoes. He's irreplaceable. Both Alex AND Regis Killbin... it's like my childhood just died.

Will it be two weeks ago on Sunday since he passed ?? Still can't believe he is gone but I think it's going to really sink in on the final week of his shows & I'll probably watch them & shed a tear or two.
