For the record, he did not walk OR crawl away. He hosted until he was WISKED away. He was an absolute BADASS in the quietest and most perfect, kindest way. Stood tall, worked hard, loved all, then just gone to better things. What a fantastic example he was and is. RIP you “son of a gun”.
I think he loved saying that because of him and Alan Thicke helping him CRAWL into his role when Jeopardy was called "Wizard of Odds".

This man really wrote an entire book during quarantine and showed up every single episode of Jeopardy while battling cancer, with the latest one being taped 10 days before his passing. Alex Trebek, you did more than just leave a footnote on this world. A man with such dignity and poise until the very end. Rest in peace.

IF YOU WORK SO HARD FOR SO LONG, YOU ARE IRREPLACEABLE UNLESS YOU HAVE AN IDENTICAL TWIN WHO CAN DO EXACTLY THE SAME THING YOU DO.
It would be important that anyone taking over finds their own place alongside Trebek, not true to emulate him. My guess is they find a celebrity looking for a safe and secure job in semi-retirement. Similar to Drew Carey taking over from Bob Barker. With a small chance they bring in Ken Jennings, he has the gravitas, credibility, and style to be a great host.

This guy wasn’t just a host, he was a fixture in life. Everyone in there 40’s literally grew up with this guy. He’s as familiar as the TV set you’ve watched him on.

He actually said this morning he is in too much pain from the treatments. He also stated unless they can ease the pain he will no longer continue with treatments and will just let nature take its course. He knows he does not have long to live. Pancreatic Cancer is the number one cancer with the lowest survival rate. I know, my pop had it and passed within 5 months of diagnosis in 2001. So Alex is still strong but the body can only take so much from treatment and the disease itself. I wish him the very best. Jeopardy will not be the same without him and when he leaves I will stop watching.
Virtually no one beats pancreatic cancer, but I hope Trebek could be the first.
Happy 80th Mr. Trebek...although we will never meet I just want to say thank you for being a familiar face in my household and the memories that came with having Jeopardy on almost every single night. God bless you.
Don't be a quitter, go to CA and meet him. You can do it ! When he answers the door tell him we are all pulling and praying for him. Keep us abreast of your journey with a daily log, please don't let us down. Godspeed

I heard that his last day of taping was on October 29th 10 days before his death, I remember him on the april fools edition of wheel of fortune back in the 90's

Trebek is the host I grew up with. My mother grew up with Art Fleming hosting and to this day prefers him. Both had different styles.

I'll never forget my grandmother (who was born in 1919) that she watched his show because she did not have a chance to go to school. As a little girl I did not understand what she was saying to me...now it hits me hard.
She must have learned a lot doing it. Too many of us take our education for granted. Easy to forget that even 100 years ago, education wasn't always accessible.

My grandma, dearly departed born in 1920, made Jeopardy, Wheel of Fortune, & The Price is Right her daily routine. She especially wanted me to watch, because she said that Jeopardy was about facts & figures, Wheel of Fortune was about Pronunciation and spelling, and The Price is Right was about money, grocery shopping, and educated guesses. "You can do anything, if you put your mind to it" - My Grandma. I miss her very much.

God we argued all the time at Grandma's house. And Grandma always won. Why? Because Grandpa said so. 6 kids 4 adults. I could get it before anyone else... "Oh, I knew that." Then came "That's another one for Grandma"

RIP Alex, I just heard the news...what a great guy, charming, smart and such a wonderful host, he always let the spot light shine on the contestants....he will be missed.
When he says the producers are looking for someone "younger and funnier" it just reminds me of how stupid this trend of comedians being game show hosts over the last ten years is. Some treat it as another stand up venue and make it about themselves. I hope this ends soon and we can get back to having hosts (of any age) who know that the show is about the contestants.

She will turn 99 in January and yes I noticed that as well. Though I do think Betty White would have made a good game show host, not sure if she ever worked in that capacity but I don't remember seeing her other than as a panelist. Too late now though. I can't believe Trebek was 80. He always seemed 20 years younger than he was.
Truly, a gem of a human being, can never be duplicated or replaced. None can match his class. There will never be another in this universe like Alex Trebek. I, along with this entire world, will miss you, Alex. You were definitely one of a kind and a wonderful guy. S.I.P.
Mr. Trebek’s last day in studio was October 29th. The remaining episodes he hosted will be aired through Christmas. We will watch with heavy hearts but joyful spirits to see him finish his career his way. He was the best. RIP.

That VOICE! I've only ever been able to answer about 10% of the questions, but I still watch.
He was a loyal citizen to many as a Canadian and as an American. Not too many will remember he once a program with high school students called "Reach For the Top". His favourite subject on Jeopardy was he loved the most - the "geography" category the most. We will all miss him and may he rest in peace. We are all better that he has crossed our path.

I always held the theory that whoever won the GOAT tournament would replace him...and I hoped it was Ken and I ended being right about him winning it. Ken has the perfect balance of humor to host but also juussstt the right amount of seriousness to match the general aesthetic of the kind of game show that Jeopardy is.

I respect this man and I’m 20, still young and dumb. But I’m proving I’m not as dumb as some of my other counterparts. I’m also very respectful and agree with Alex 💯! The younger generations need more respect and gratitude for the older generations, maybe...hopefully this quarantine will show them what to be grateful for and how to respect the ones who they have. Our loved ones won’t always be here to feed us, clothe us, hug us. I think sometimes the younger people forget that and take advantage of it. And hopefully they look forward to the hugs of grandma and grandpa instead of staring at screens all day. Unlike before all this shit started. Love your loved one people please!
