Parts of a SWA Cable Gland - BW and CW - Electrical Wiring

In this video we look at the parts that make up both a BW and CW SWA gland. The BW steel wire armour gland is design to be used in dry environments and the CW gland for damp and outside locations. We look at all the elements that make up each gland including the earthing ring often called on site a banjo.

  • Excellent, ah the memories of my time at college, I can’t remember ever calling the earthing ring a banjo, it’s always been the earthing ring, but I do remember we used to call the shrouds Johnny’s don’t ask me why. Fantastic video Gaz as always 👍

  • Great video. I am in my final part of my apprenticeship and know about the different glands and when to use. But really helpful to break it down and understand why each part of the gland is used.

  • thanks for info about glands. how to use male and female gland and method of reducing or extending the gland connection would be good if you share wiht us.
