Woodturning - What are YOU Thankful for?!
So I couldn't get this project finished in time for Halloween.... so it's now a Thanksgiving pumpkin! Not that I celebrate this holiday as it's not a thing in the United Kingdom..... anyway, I hope my American viewers like it!
The pumpkin is made from a fabulous-looking piece of spalted Ash, with a small Apple wood top.
It has been sanded to 1000 grit and finished with Danish oil!
I am thinking of making more of these pumpkins, I just think it looks super cool but also lonely on its own. Maybe I can make some smaller ones (similar to the ones seen at the end of the video), let me know what you think 😁👍

Disclaimer:
My videos are for entertainment purposes only. Some of my techniques might not be the "best" or safest, so when using any tool or machinery always read and understand safety/manufacturers guidelines first.
And Yes, I'm aware that wearing gloves while woodturning is considered an unsafe practice. The gloves I wear are tight-fitting and don’t have any loose threads. I wear them for the protection of my skin. This is a risk that I am willing to take, however I am still very conscious of the potential danger and I do not touch any spinning parts of the lathe. DO NOT copy my actions if you feel unsafe doing so.
I am thankful for my wife of 24 years. I am also thankful for God watching over me.
I'm thankful for God, my family, and friends.
I’m thankful for the life God gives me every morning that I wake up. The pumpkin is just too gorgeous! I want it! ❤
I am thankful for God and all He has done for me and those I love

Cracking job Harry it looks beautiful !......better than I grow on my allotment. :)
Looks amazing Harry 👍
The spalting is amazing!, That is why I hang on to the should be "firewood" pieces. Glad to see some one else who uses the big roughing gouge. I love it.
Hi Harry the piece of wood is wonderful, the grain is nice and the spalting looks lovely. The pumpkin is awesome and some of the spalting looks like a spider on the side of the pumpkin. I am grateful for being alive, God in my life, My partner and Your videos as they are magnificent and you always make something unique. Thank you for a fantastic video and your time and effort you put into the turnings you do.
With the spartina it looked like a giant spider on the side of the pumpkin. I am thankful for your amazing talent. Make more!
Beautiful work. Hopefully you are going to do a couple of small pieces with the 2 small limb pieces you cut off. Would also love to see a spalted piece done with spiral grooves. Should make for a very interesting piece of art.
Soooo realistic. Love your work.
Thank you very much Sheila! Should I make some more? 😁

@@HarrySmithWoodturning if you have more of that lovely wood, it's amazing looking.
That is a beautiful pumpkin!
Great talent using a great piece of wood ❤
Fantastic turn Harry. Maybe you should turn a pie next 🤔 and you could cut it similar to the show - Is it Cake?? 😉
May be cut it in half... and make a casket?)
Very nice. What brand of dremel tool do you use please?
Why not make a vase or storage container for something?
