The value of having Pixel Tablet is actually good
Thumbs up
Good job
It's a mid-end tablet without oled display! It will remain on their shelves!
@@Lama-it6rk it's more of a smart home device than a tablet primarily, fits into a unique part of the market. it will do well
Super
Years have gone by and the Verge always deliver the fastest highlights of every Tech event.
until the AI shows up
It's funny, high rated comments like these create a sort of self fulfilling prophecy. Almost like prompting businesses to compete for better content
Great
People were more glad for dark mode than almost all the AI presentations 😂
Thats how much we're ready for Ai 🫶🏼🤣
We are simple creatures
😅
Because none of these companies have any idea how to actually integrate it into their products.
Microsoft cant even change the transfer file progress bar into dark mode while in dark, that's how incompetent windows 11 and literally whole company including xbox. they were save by openAI and turn them open-source into closed source. mtfkr.
The only thing I gain from all these AIs is that my college work just got more easier and less time consuming.
Thank you, that’s exactly what I was thinking 😂🎉
They will use AI, to make sure you aren't cheating by using AI😂
Also it will be harder to land a job after graduation, depending on your domain
@@sharpvidtube you can instruct ai to write like yourself than they can never be able to find out. I made already a basic prompt that takes a lot sentences of my writing style.
"more easier"
Magic Editor is kind of insane! Magic Eraser is already a tool I use quite a lot.
Is it different then the one they just added to google photos?
Not sure how good this is going to look in person for now, but I dig Google’s effort on it.
They really need to add that apple thing where you can just tap at any object/person at a photo and it automaticly cuts it and exports it.
Pixel already had object remove i used
Does anyone know when these features will be available on pixel 7 pro magic editor and that Google maps with immersive view
Well I gotta admit the tablet experience they are going for is the best I've seen. It's a household device.
they took the best ideas from Amazon Echo and the iPad and put them together, at a loss price just to gain marketshare. It looks promising; I hope they can make tools for developers to really make 'tablet apps' because if they didn't, this is dead on arrival
I'm not sure what options would be available for stylus though? Think that Samsung still has that covered best
@@gadget00 why does everyone keep assuming these things should cost more. They are still making large profits even at that price point
And I'm very salty, because I _just_ got the Nest Hub Max and then I see this 😑
Those bezels kill it. Way too thick.
Thank you for this, Verge. I refuse to watch a full Google event. 😂
we gotchu!
@@TheVerge 🤝🤝
I just slept watching that 😅
Word. It's important to stay up to date but at what cost
yea only the apple events are intresting
The AI race is sure heating up. 🔥
Which can be catastrophic
The only thing hotter is apple being burned
love how they posted the ai image and everyone was like 'meh. seen it already'
@@smellysox1567Apple doesnt hurry up like android. They will always try to be the best rather than being first
And it's not just OpenAI, Microsoft, Google, and Apple. Independent open-souce devs are up there with the big boys as well. Hopefully we won't have to deal with "black box" AI. Maybe sentient AI will become the driving force behind blockchain, crypto and the "Web3 economy" while we mere mortal humans will just tag along for the ride. Hopefully we can coexist though and not try to snuff out each other's existence 🤞
Kinda sold on the pixel tablet, would have never thought a tablet would ever break the mold from apple. Love the idea of switching between Home display and detachable tablet.
Yikes, that tablet looks 5 years outdated
@@linusmlgtips2123 I mean don’t all tablets look like tablets 5 years ago
@@linusmlgtips2123 all tablets look like they are from 5 years ago😂
I can't stand with that bezel, maybe the pixel fold 2
@@linusmlgtips2123 I think they've just followed their existing design language so it doesn't look out of place with other Nest home products. I don't think they're expecting people to have one in every room, but they might have the smaller ones in most rooms, for example.
The Pixel tablet with speaker dock and multi user profile is ingenious!
Will it get 4yrs of update ?
I've watched the full event and it's funny to see the verge reordering the original presented topics to bring the hardware first as they had been shown at the end of the keynote
They’re not exactly a tech-forward publication anymore.
My guess is: hardware videos usually perform better, hence, gets moved to the beginning to maximise viewing retention.
to be fair the hardware is what most people look for
Apart from the tensor g2, these are nice products. Hopefully tensor g3 is a sizeable upgrade in performance and efficiency, especially efficiency
It’ll have to be Snapdragon modem rather than Exynos in which case, that means price increases for the phones since Exynos was used to circumvent taxes in various countries.
Its gonna be on samsung 3nm process
And optimization
Tensor G2 is perfectly fine.
I work for them and use G2 chips in my phones daily, they're perfectly capable of performing very highly with great efficiency - if you're talking about running benchmark programs for points, then we're not interested in playing those games. We'll stick with enriching peoples lives with useful application of technology ;-)
I'm an Apple user for 11 years. This is the most mature Google and its products I've ever seen! Great ideas, great hardware, great software, great initiatives! Well done!
Yup, this is kinda making me want to switch. But I'm in too deep already with Apple 😥
i am the opposite , i have been a google / pixel user for a decade , i have no hate for apple but they are falling behind with stuff like siri & not adopting RCS , we as consumers / users want partnerships that improve the cross platform experience .
@@michaelgarvey2148 agreed! Siri is just a joke. She’s always “hmm?” When I don’t even need her and when I do she can’t even do the basics well enough. Apple should work with Google and carriers for the RCS protocol and make it encrypted and versatile. They’re just being Apple.
@@saibhaskar5108 same! I love where Google is at right now and I really enjoy the software and hardware they make. I’m also a bit afraid of my personal data because, Google, but apart from that I wish it could be easy to jump over to their side.

The awkward silence during the reveal of the foldable price 😂

The Verge is the MVP for Taking out all the Filler and showing us what's important!
That was legit the most impressive I/O in a long long while.
The generative AI will help me a lot when writing down my CV when the generative AI took my current job away. Thank you, AI.
Everyone's already doing it. There goes your advantage!
AI giveth... and AI taketh away. Blessed be the name of AI.
The value of having Pixel Tablet is actually good. For 500 bucks you essentially got Nest Hub and a tablet.
If it had android auto as well, I would buy it in a heartbeat.
No pen support...
I dunno, I'm pretty disappointed that this dock is useless without the tablet , not sure why they couldn't have included some hardware to have the dock still act as a smart speaker I mean they sell a nest mini on sale for 35 bucks it not like those parts coast much to include
@@Mkrabs sadly yes. no pen support
Love how they take a shot at Apple when talking about RCS
Verge is so clutch for these videos 😂 and this IO looked really good
Bro the shot at apple with RCS was such a jab. Hopefully apple will get the message😂
Don’t hold your breath
They are find the way they are, unfortunately Google has this tendency to support and let go, even RCS is a risk
Ain't gonna happen bro RCS doesn't really work outside the US, rest of the world are using WhatsApp or other chat apps so Apple maybe will not consider it as an alternative solution for green and blue bubble problem
And Apple whispered…"no"
What message should Apple get? RCS isn’t a universal standard, hell not even half of all android users use it. How is this even an Apple issue? iMessage has been around since 2011 but Google only just started adopting RCS in 2019 and it's somehow Apple's fault. Google is only pushing for this because iMessage has a stranglehold on the US market. Where was this concern for the past 8 years and the countless messaging apps Google has created and killed?
I was really impressed with Google's keynote at the recent I/O conference. The company is really pushing the boundaries of AI with Bard. I WROTE THE ABOVE WITH BARD 😂
With RCS, now we know why Dieter was hired. He gave the exact same platform strategy few years ago in a Verge video
Best I/O ever. The AI arms race in Tech is incredibly exciting.
More worrisome than exciting. Now I understand better why Geoff Hinton left Google. I do not think it is a coincidence that it happen before I/O
@@Petrvsco why
@@Petrvsco All it means is that he wanted to take things along a different path than what Google decided. We don't have enough info to evaluate how valid either of their reasons are for the split.
Google talks a lot of AI but delivers poorly.
It has ways to go.
Super exited about the new google maps and google photos features
The docking device for the tablet is very interesting I'm actually compelled
The Google maps bike mode flyover is neat. However...two small things would also be neat: 1) if Google maps in bike mode were slightly less homicidal. 2) if when I spend half-an-hour hand tuning a route on my computer, that work wasn't completely discarded when I send the map to my phone.
I like that they put multi user support for the tablet, good move
Imagine google maps in 10 years, getting to places would be so easy
Except for the traffic
13:47, from a competition standpoint this is like asking your competitor to submit to you. LOL
I am so damn impressed this year. Fantastic lineup.
Competition baby
Bard integration into google sheets will be super nice
So useful! Can't wait to test it
AI this. AI that.
Pixel 7eh? - with love from Canada
The wallpaper stuff looks dope!
I've never been this excited after watching a Google I/O!! They knocked it out of the park!
Really? I thought it was probably one of the worst so far.
So glad Google is entering the foldables arena, can't wait to try. And to ship it with a watch included is awesome!🎉
I hope that now that they're taking foldables more seriously as premium devices, we'll get cheaper accesible foldables in the mid range phones
Awesome. Thanks. The cinemagic background is actually the thing I'm most exciting about.
Just think folks...in another 5-10 years or so you won't even be able to see the crease in all these foldables. That's when I'll buy one.
The bezel on the fold though 😮
not like you were going to buy it anyways
@@AyoSoma 🥳🥳
Honestly the Pixel Tablet looks really good, specially for the price. I'm currently using iOS but there's definitely many aspects i miss about having a pixel. Eventually i will go back to google :)
Eventually? U won't come back if this is not enticing enough? I believe IOS is content rich
Thanks for the quick recap the food with a watch thrown in is pretty awesome
feels like we are getting closer to a dystopian black mirror episode, nice
Glad to have more players on the foldable market, especially because maybe now Google will bother to fix their own apps (youtube, etc) on the large foldable phones. Gotta say though, those bezels look rough... maybe they can figure that out for the next iterations, cause right now that inner screen is not looking too pretty.
wow Google is getting its act together with Ai
Loved the Pixel tablet part, thanks a lot..🙏
Thanks a lot for the info!
Wish the Pixel fold had pen support. Appreciate it's hard for a folding screen (probably?) I just don't see the point in having all that screen if you can't scribble!
Samsungs Folds support Pens, so its definitely possible
Thanks for the edited version some interesting stuff coming.
Thanks for the review
Verge has always been saved us ❤
Really cool stuff.
What I like about Google these days is that their design sense and user experience have vastly improved in terms of software. I would go as far as to say that they take the crown on Android (and even all mobile OS). The Pixel is just a pleasure to use, and most of the smart features it comes with are genuinely useful and make me feel like I am using a truly 'smart' phone which helps me make my life easier.
Don't trust them tho. My life account got banned by these idiots cause of my new born son's pictures..... Can't reach a stupid human there to help
After so long, I am excited about the google hardware lineup
Ai is already insane just imagine a few years from now. It's going to change everyone's lives maybe for the worse in some ways but we will have to see.
Biggest game changer is machining such as CNC, in 50 years AI will make current CNCing methods look like those old manual milling machines that were driven by leather belts.
Few years? More like at the end of the year.
@@jmd1743 CNC? 50 years?😂 Have you heard about 3D printing? And the rate of progress is faster than every 50 years, way faster.

the first cut of Pichai was golden 👌
It's better if Google tells us when the assistant starts working, who orders a table in a restaurant or calls your hairdresser or doctor and approves an appointment! The feature was announced two or three years ago, but it doesn't really work! but this year we are tired of setting up a desktop of black and white emojis on the phone !!!

First thing that stood out to me when they showed the tablet was...bezels. xD Oh well, maybe next generation. That said, the mount-dock looks great and turning it into a makeshift nest hub seems like a very neat feature! I am still very vary of giving Google more data when working with AI... but still, this is a great step forward. Looking forward to what the modern day AI wars are going to produce in the long run.
Given that the standard they should be compared to are the home button-less iPads and their thick but symmetrical bezels, I think the bezels are completely acceptable. Hell, I think they're better that way since that means you can get a better grip on the tablet without risking misinputs on the touchscreen.
It's about time Find My Device gets the upgrade it deserves. I'll actually invest in some tracking technology now that I know whats to come for Android. Very excited!
that tab looks tempting. Reasonable price with charging speaker. Tho I will wait until I see some video about it.

The new AI stuff is pretty rad. It’ll be interesting to see what Apple desperately needs to do to get caught up in the AI race. Also, I doubt Apple will switch to RCS if it doesn’t meet their standards.
what's their standard?
@@etlimenemen it needs to lock users into iphones
Apple will not switch RCS, because it's Google implementation of RCS, and it is not a worldwide carrier standard. And they shouldn't, because it will be a fool's move by Apple.

$700 cad for a 60hz screen and an additional $109 for the case? That's an easy pass on the tablet...
Agreed, buying the iPad 10th gen makes more sense plus it costs less. Not much use for a tablet in this context either in my opinion, makes sense for education though but this doesn't have any stylus or anything.
I was going to get the tablet and then I saw the base model costs $900 here in Australia.
You can get the one plus pad with better specs (144hz display) for $649 and it comes with a keyboard case…

I now watch Google's events the way I once watched Apple's, whereas Apple events now seems like the same old same repeated. 😅
Google is developing AI products more responsibly by putting links to source from which it produced the code, watermarks on AI generated images and much more. It seems like microsoft and openai are solely after profits. They keep releasing features without evaluating their consequences and then Sam Altman goes to press conferences to say AI needs to be regulated by governments. Openai and microsoft wants to create monopoly in the market where only big tech companies and big universities can do AI research
It still feels a bit reckless, but I agree that they are being a little more responsible than Microsoft about it (E.g. Adobe Firefly, which Google is using, allows artists to opt out of being included in the learning model)
