Clear calling is awfully underrated. Just last week, me and my brother were at a concert. Both of us have pixel phones. Every time we got separated and wanted to find one another we would make a call. Even next to the stage we could hear each other's voice clearly with virtually no background noise from the blasting music. Sometimes the line between magic and good technology really is blurry

Apple’s voice isolation is great as well. I’ve tested it next to an active blender and the person couldn’t hear anything but my voice. Love functional tech like this Edit: Albeit it doesn’t detect noise on other people’s phone if they don’t have the feature or don’t have it turned on and minimize it on your own end

The bezels are also thicker at the top and bottom because of how they designed the hinge. The screen has to fit between the top and bottom hinge components because Google decided to put the majority of the hinge hardware at the top and bottom instead of all along the spine behind the screen. It's similar to what Microsoft did with the Duo hinge except with a single screen instead of 2 screens. There is still hinge hardware running down the spine, but the majority has been moved to the top and bottom. Google says this is what allows the phone to fold completely flat.

I was always the early adopter before I turned 25. I was one of those people that stuck with LG until the end. I love it when a company makes risky, yet creative decisions, and am now Pixel everything. Google's phone/tech side is doing what Apple usually does, better. It's waiting for others to create and it's making it better and still fresh by trying new things out. I'm still going to wait for the next version of the foldable because I know it will be better. I'm no longer in my 20s.😂
I'm watching and commenting this on V60, it's still my favorite phone LG has ever made. I had the G4, V20, G7, LG owes me lol!!! My other phones is a iphone 14 plus with the apple watch ultra and my main android device is a S23+
As a Fold 4 user, I'm so glad Google is pushing the industry forward, this may encourage more companies to do Foldables. Samsung has done an excellent work til now, but a lot of features are still exclusive for us, while the competition is still years behind. This might change soon. Competition is always good for customers.
Yeah and I expect the fold 5, and especially the 6 to be pretty big upgrades thanks to increased competition

I would argue that you don't need any dedicated selfie cameras. This form factor allows you to use the rear high end cameras with the large outer screen to take better selfies than any inner camera could. So ditch the 2 selfie cameras, lose the bezels, drop the price and make more room for battery capacity
You kind of want that for video calls and meetings though bro...
@@SreejithKSGupta No. Use the outer screen for that.
Somebody is thinking 👍
@@ChaoZz07 that is not how it works bro.. people want to see their friends and family in the biggest possible screen...
I would argue the world needs a phone specifically made for games or performance that has no camera at all, just plain screen with no interruptions, and you won’t need to worry about being watched either
The editing on this vid is out of this world! 🎉🎉🎉
Love the intro music and style.
Having been using the Fold4 I have to say one of the best things is the narrower screen when folded. Makes it much easier to use one handed and if I need a wider screen, hey just unfold the phone. Though I do like the look of the pixel fold over all (aside from the stupid bezel camera).
Exactly. This pixel fold is designed to use with the main screen, wondering why anyone would bother opening to watch content on a slightly big display. Maybe because they don't want people to see that ugly bezel inside a lot of time lol
I think id prefer the thicker screen with a thinner body like the oppo or pixel fold. I find my fold 4 too skinny when closed
@4039byrne fair, I honestly prefer it, went from the s22 ultra to the fold and being able to use the screen comfortably one handed is awesome.
The outside screen on the z4 seems to be either loved or hated by people that have it
Me too, it's just easier to manage everything with the narrower screen, and if I need more space, I'll just open my phone.

Are not up to date with technology? Computers have been doing that for the past few years now. I'm not defending the Pixel Fold as I believe it's a hot mess, but yeh turning software into hardware is something that's fairly common, it's like how Samsung turns physical storage into extra RAM.

Second day having this phone. I LOVE it. Had the Samsung Galaxy s 21plus before. The crease is there but I really don't mind it because you only see it when there's a gleer on it. Folds nice and when it's folded it's perfect to use with one hand.
I love watching these videos as a person who's had the same Galixy s10e with a huge black chunk and rgb lights covering 15% of the screen since the phone came out. It really highlights the luxuries I could be enjoying but cant because I have no money 🙂

I’m definitely waiting for the Google Pixel 2 in 2024. I wanted to get the OnePlus V Fold but it’s not the same size as the Oppo Find N. The pixel fold is closest, it’s just needs to fix the crease and the bezels, and improve the camera
Througout the years my perception of foldables kinda changed. When the Galaxy fold came out, I thought that I'd never buy one as I've seen it kinda impractical. But as the tech progressed and more and more companies make them now, I kind of want one. 😆 The Pixel Fold seems like a nice one too.
I remember the large phablet releases. I embraced them. At that point I never needed more at hands or arms length. I actually prefer 6.1 ish to 6.4. Sweet spot. I'm glad I have no desire for anything larger. If I did I would buy a legit tablet.
I am glad they went 1440 tho on the inner.
@@robertclarkguitar Yea, truee. I have a Note20 Ultra, and it's the perfect size. I'v held the S23 Ultra but I think it'd be just almost uncomfortable for me
@@robertclarkguitar yupp that's the sweet spot there too. And I like that foldables are now usable folded up. I really didn't like the aspect ratio of the front screen on the Fold and Fold 2.

Spot on! your review is by far the most engaging. And in the end I was like 1800$ + bezels + battery life... Very much what you said! Doesn't add up. However I do feel that the size of the phone folded - mini - compared to most of the phones nowadays , unfolded becoming a good small tablet size phone is a cool thing... I still think 1800 for the phone that doesn't shine in every department is a silly price!

The outside screen looks much more usable than the Samsung ones. The bootloader is probably unlockable. Less bloat but then some Samsung adds like smart things, routines, bt tags and good lock mods really set them apart as well. Overall good competition.
Hey Arun, love all the vids, when are you going to test the Honor Magic Vs??

Did you see those big bezels and the disgusting crease?
@@LucifiedPower the bezels literally don't change anything...
That phone looks horrible
New standard on the price, you mean! 😂
As a samsung fold user, i think this is a really interesting competition! And as is always said, competition breeds innovation. Here's hoping future smartphones are improved by it! Few things to note: - the samsung animation speed is modifiable in the developer options. Changing the speed from 1x to 0.5x (animations are twice as fast) immediately makes the phone feel much snappier (as opposed to it being slower in your demo)
It can be done in any android phone not just samsung but still be considered slower if put it on default
Don't know why they keep calling it a competitor when Samsung and Google are essentially partners as they collaborate on pretty much everything they do. It's why the Samsung watch got the latest software update before any other brand. I'm pretty sure Samsung had a major hand in helping develop the Pixel Fold.
@@hobbitpsi it's competitive in a market sense, they have some agreement but hopefully it will still be sufficient to create innovating
I like the bezels and the form factor. I might look into foldable with the next gen. However I am waiting for Arun's review of the latest Sony first.
I like how Google has dramatically imroved its UI though it might first feel like a copy of Samasung, but the implementation is a lot better. It just feels nice to see the UI properly integrated with their entire line up. Great video
both samsung and work as a team to develop android, of course they are going to look similar.

Yes I was thinking that technically it was next level too. The sound quality outside seemed pretty amazing.
I tried the Z flip and fold 4 at a rogers store and I loved it! So satisfying to open and see the app expand. Foldables were never and option for me. My dad works with dust in the garage and there's a lot of dust at our trailer park.
I would have liked to see more discussion of the wider aspect ratio. That is my biggest reason for considering this vs. a Samsung fold4 (or 5 for that matter) The cover screen on the fold 4 us too narrow to be useful and even when unfolded you have to turn it 90 degrees to really multitask. I have a surface duo, but the dropped pixels between screens makes going full screen pretty useless, but on a single screen or multi-tasking the wider aspect ratio is great. Hoping the pixel fold gets the best of those two worlds.
The inner selfie camera takes great pics to me on the fold 4. Videos as well

arun, you can answer calls without touching your phone on Samsung too, plus you have the s-pen, which takes productivity to a whole other level
The bezels allow the hinge mechanisms to sit mainly above and below the inner display, instead of behind. This allows it to fold totally flat where the Fold 4 can't. Fair trade off IMO but I'm surprised you didn't catch that.
Yeah, I'd rather have slightly thick-ish bezels than a screen with a huge gap in it lmao.
And I think it helps to have a more normal resolution as a tablet than the Fold's almost square-ish screen

I'm glad that folding phones seems to have finally come of age! The bezels on the Pixel Fold don't bother me as they allow the phone to fold completely flat and, anyway, using a tablet with super thin bezels _can_ be a bit awkward. The elephant in the room (for me) though, is the price. I'm not saying it's not worth the asking price, but the fact of the matter is that I'm simply not going to spend almost £1,800 on a phone.
