Verge always proving that keynotes could be way shorter and still communicate.
I loved the old events where there are light shows, etc. (SAMSUNG). These events style are what is wrong with it.
Yeah. These aren’t events, these are TED talks with tech.
@@Harvester88Tech Talks?

The Verge always coming through with their in minutes. Thank you.
The Verge event recap never disappoints.
7 years of updates? Are you kidding me? That's insane 🤯
That's awesome and that's how it should be.
Recent Pixels don't even last that long.
That Tensor CPU isn’t powerful enough to keep up with 7 years of support. But it’s a nice gesture…
Good luck with seven years battery life...

This is the first time that I'm more excited about the pixel rather than the iPhone. This phone is worth each dollar
Yep. Have never purchased a pro model of a phone before cause I'm cheap but damn the pixel pro 8 features/camera/gorgeous blue body had me pre order so fast. Plus I'm getting a free watch!?
Wtf iphone😂😂😂😂 worst mobiles on earth
Are you sure you're not a bot?
i bought the pixel 7 pro last year... i can honestly say it was the worst phone i've ever owned... if you really don't want an iphone, get a samsung instead. The pixel phone was buggy, it heated up during charging and using basic apps, the rounded edges are uncomfortable, and it was laggy. I got the watch free with the phone and the amount of times it would disconnect and i had to turn bluetooth off on the phone, restart the watch, and turn bluetooth back on (google suggested this as "it can happen") - my phone and the watch were always nearby. Considering the watch is supposed to be £350, it really doesnt feel it. This year i've gone back to iphone - got the 15 pro at £999, the same price google are charging for their pro model - i've had no issues whatsoever (not even heating up...doesnt get hot when charging or using the same apps that caused the pixel to heat up). But each to their own. There are things about Apple i don't like - such as the messaging app...they could easily work with google to play nice with messages - but the list is far longer for google and pixel (i just hope you don't have any issues because google's customer service is absolutely terrible)
@@droiddevx03 He's a shill then.
Now that google fixed the video, pixel is back to being the camera king
For the average person, probably. They’re still behind in the professional market as long as they can’t shoot Log though.
@@RarelyCorrect Not necessarily. I think you misunderstand the complexity of some of the newer algorithms Google is running on their newest Pixel phones. In order for "Video boost" to work efficiently, the phone has to capture much more data and in very specific ways. The HDR+ algorithm can already be pretty resource intensive for a few photos, but Google is trying to run this algorithm on 1,800 photo frames a minute for video recording. Having used the Pixel 7 Pro, I can tell that it already struggles to keep up with the standard HDR+ video recording algorithms during the filming itself (it looks fine after capture), so I can understand why the latest video boost feature would be limited to the Pixel 8 Pro series which has a newer processor with much more headroom for AI algorithms. While Google "could" share their algorithms with Samsung, I think they've come to realize the value of having this as a trade secret. So far, Samsung is still struggling to match Google in the AI space, and they definitely don't have the types of servers that would be required to process something this intensive.
@@RarelyCorrectisn't Apple making everything exclusive to Iphone as well for many years? Why don't they make their features available in all the phones?
Please let Pro Controls come down to older pixels
This Apple keynote is fire 🔥
I love that feature overview slide is even a direct rip off
I'm so glad someone realised this and commented it.
Photos taken with Pixel should not be used as evidence in court anymore if one can add or remove objects from the images! Well done!
They need to expand worldwide
They scared of Samsung
@@zack1984ful yeah they scared, and they still use samsung specialized chipset called Tensor
Nope..they afraid of the US ban bcoz will threaten apple
The 7 years of update is very good, I just hope the hardware can stand up to that. I'm really considering moving on from my S22 ultra because of this.
Why? S22 is a recent enough phone isn't it?
well the previous pixel had a lot of battery/heating issues and what not. I hope this one doesn't
So you will upgrade within 2 years time so you can use the phone for 7 years ? lol atleast use the S22U for 5 years (the time they are giving support and updates)
@MarcSpctr probably because living in Canada I might be able to buy a new phone in the next year anyway
Do you sell the s22?
Verge hooks me up with tech events I never knew about. Clutch
Software and ai stuff is great! It's also great that they also added 7 years of software update which is really amazing! I just wished they also showcased the hardware like how the camera performs not just the editing and also how the tensor performs in multi tasking and gaming.
Tensor isn't about the multi tasking/gaming performance. If they did that, people would just say its worse than the A14 Bionic and how its a bad mobile processor. Those two points just aren't want pixels and tensor are about
Any flagship after like 2020 won't have any issues with multitasking or gaming.. It's a useless test to run nowadays because phones are far beyond that

my Pixel 2 was my first smartphone and it had only two years of updates so I gladly switched to my first iPhone and I'm really happy because of the ecosystem and paid apps are amazing
Verge has a growing collection of summarised keynote events etc. Could this serve as a database eventually for a video summarisation deep learning model?
I remember using something similar to Google's Best Take feature when I had a Nokia Lumia and it was very fun to use. It's nice to see it being implemeted in today's smartphones.
I always go to The Verge whenever I want the best edited keynotes and coverage of new flagship products. Thank you for your fantastic content!
fav part is the ifixit collab they actually showed and mentioned, awesome
Finally Google has decided to take on Apple and Samsung. The battle line has been drawn and I am rooting for Google. I can't wait to upgrade my Pixel 6 on Fi to Pixel 8 Pro. I'm also getting the iPhone 15 Pro (my first ever iPhone by the way) as my work phone. Apple for work and Google for play (personal phone)' case closed.
Google has been competing (and losing) against Apple on the smartphone front since the G1 released 15 years ago. Cultural influence can’t be won with incremental improvements. If Google wants to beat Apple they need to release something as truly innovative and groundbreaking as the original iPhone.
@@ambientnoiserock Apple? Truly innovative? Are you kidding me? Yeah agree with the first iPhone but everything went downhill since then.
Curious why you are ‘rooting’ for Google? Data harvesting here is insane.
@@charley7085 yeah I was clearly referring to the first iPhone

Really hoping to hear that they enable the displayport through usb-c at some later date. It was rumored to be enabled, but at launch it's not enabled, according to google support, which is really disappointing to me. I wanted a tiny little "desktop-replacement" phone lol.

The Pixel lineup is legit. This looks amazing.
So the same bands will work with the watch 2?
Just realised how weird it is having the presenter look directly into the camera (to us watching) while being in front of an audience. 😂
the audience probably media press, so... they should keep eye contact to camera

Will pixel 7 get all these software features through update?
why do i feel that this year the pixels are better than the s23 ultra 😭😭😭

You should have addrd side buttons along with the crown so it can be used as a shortcut.
I definitely should have waited a gen for the pixel watch. These changes are nice.
They are living 150 for the first gen watch
Theres so much potential with google pixels. They should have gotten into the phone game hard from the jump. Apple wouldn't be dominating right now had they done that.
Remember the nexus phones?
LOL!!!!! So innocent acceptance …Samsung is not dominating…Android zombies excites two days in a year..every year…on Pixel launch day thinking it will kill iPhone dominance or Galaxy launch day thinking same..!!!!!!😂😂😂
Um, Android has over 69% market share (NICE!); iOS is under 30%.
@@halfsourlizard931969% of the world market which includes many junk phones. Apples dominance in Premium phones is unmatched. In laymen’s terms you have 30 companies or more competing against one to get that dominance.

I tried apple’s adaptive audio on their airpods and I immediately turned it off. it works great but I realized I think out loud too often and its not a good use case for me

So what comes to the Pixel 7 Pro?
Will all the software features will be available for the Pixel 7 also ?
Doubt it for most of them

the 7 years update was the best part
Will these features be dropped to Pixel 7 too ?

I'm looking forward to Video Boost being processed on device when the 9th generation of devices arrive.
It will be in pixel 8 pro in a year
Did their renderer skipped frames while presenting the Google whatever phone?
Weird that no new Pixel buds pro... I wanted to get those. Anyone recommends the first/actual version of the Buds Pro?
I've had the buds pro for a few months and they're great. They sound great (not perfect, but def higher end) and the noise cancelling is solid. Battery is great too. They are comfortable and don't fall out (I've experienced better fit though)

Woot! This looks sick! Go Google!
Carrier upgrades are better than going through Google store. Unfortunately my upgrade was only available in obsidian. The Bay color looks awesome. Oh well...can't wait to receive mine next week. Hopefully the camera and battery live up to the expectation. I'm hoping for close to 2 days battery life seeing that this is one of the biggest batteries on the market.
That would be a game changer. We really don’t need more performance in a phone at this point. Why not use efficiency improvements to bump the battery?
@@Freshbott2 I agree. This seems like a really good every day phone with all the assistant features that Google offers. I want to put this one through it's paces and see how it actually performs in the real world. Not trying to stress test it to points that I'll never actually use.
Canada doesn't have the monthly payment like America. Apple and Samsung have monthly payments leading to more phone sold.
They still haven't release Message Organisation to the UK lol - literally 2 years since it launched.
I like that auto translate feature...a must have for travelers!
Alesys wondered what “taking a real world technology to the next level” meant, finally I get my answer! 😂

No talk on G3? Pixels are good but how well they managed thermals with new chip
I use the read aloud option daily to read articles, so I'm surprised this was mentioned as a new feature.
That was not the new feature, i don't use it so not sure weather it supported if you are speaking in multiple languages but that inclusion was the new feature that you can speak any language.
I hope the perfomance and battery life improves within 7 years of softwares update
Not gonna lie, I quite appreciate what appears to be a heart shaped stage. Logistically it makes a lot of sense and I'm here for it. ❤️ 🤷🏿♂️
The presentation is super dry but these improvements are really useful
Just ordered my 8 Pro, leaving behind iPhone finally. Look forward to trying it out!
Good choice. I made the switch to!
Google gives The Verge and others the full video beforehand, right? How else do they always put out a video so fast?
They use AI 😏
They screen record it, at 3:36 you can see a slack notification popping up in the lower right corner
I always buy a budget android phone cus I don’t use it as my main phone just for other android things but with 7 years of support might just be worth having the pixel 8 as my second phone not have to get a new budget android every 2 years
From Google's Keyword Blog: "And now, Face Unlock on Pixel 8 meets the highest Android biometric class, allowing you to access compatible banking and payment apps like Google Wallet." Plus, improved cameras with helpful AI bits in the OS. All I wanted 😄
To this day, Apple's competitors are following Steve Jobs' presentation style.
slack notification got me lol

In my honest opinion, if google wants to genuinely tap into the younger generation, they need to focus on social media video/photo optimization. I love pixel I've used one since the first, however people really care about that stuff and I think it would make a huge difference!
I dont want to belive im biased, but i love new pixel way more than new iphone. Software featires are insane
9:00 I can finally retire Windows Live Photo Gallery! 😂
I really hope that the finger print sensor is fixed. It's been incredibly frustrating on the pixel 7. It's funny how sometimes in attempts to further technology we take a step back. In the pixel 2 it was an immensely more effective finger print sensor on the back of the phone.

So that thermometer...... only checks temp? No special or surprising features about this thing? Why would I need it when I already have my tempo?
Why the huge bezel on the watch?
would be nice if you could swap Bard with OpenAI alternative
You know what all those camera feature seemed great but if the phone can't record video without overheating what's the point? I really hope they fix that in this newer generation because the pixel 7 pro is a complete joke I don't know if I have a defective unit or what but I couldn't even record 1080p video without it overheating and reducing quality.
Sounds like skill issue
