We are headed to the States! A few crew needed B1B2 visas - so we headed to Malta for a quick appointment. It's such a gorgeous place, wonderfully friendly people and stunning scenery, highly recommend checking it out!
The boat we hired was through Outdoor Explorers - www.oxmalta.com/
My favourite part of all this was the little shot with 4 different passports. That's just awesome :)
Australia, Ireland, British, South Africa
@@fsamuels i was wondering about that. Why the one U.K. was red
@@demonknight7965 because it was probably one from when UK was in the EU, they are still valid until they expire and then the old blue ones are back
Nice to see Malta again, I spent 3 years in the late 60's as yacht crew based mainly in Malta brings back some very happy memories.
Nice imagery and cut together well. Your ability to craft a short is profound. Thanks for sharing!!!
Thank you! Cheers!
Love your energy and positive vibes! Ever consider doing some recipe videos, showing how cooking on a yacht modifies your procedures with some common dishes? I could easily see you gaining a following like Cowboy Kent Rollins has with his chuck wagon cooking tutorials on here. Thank you for sharing your adventures with us.
Good idea! That will be new to me but I'll give it a go sometime :)
@@the_crewchef Another KZhead channel is The Hillbilly Kitchen she does American Southern Cooking alot of her recipes are 100 years old. It's just down home country cooking. Might find something different for the crew. SUB. Would like to see some of your recipes on a video as well. Something from down under.
Wow you guys had quite a trip, nice to see some folks had a decent time during all this.
After watching about a dozen of your videos I have finally subscribed. Nice content, easy to watch and your very gentle on my eyes. Well done.
Adventure, culinary skill, slick editing... these are lovely videos. Well done!
Your cooking and boat travel info is great, especially for Aussies travelling by boat. Thanks for creating such an entertaining and informative channel. Aussie Aussie Aussie, Oi Oi Oi!
These videos are so well done. Thank you for taking the time to make and edit them.
that trip looked great what a nice journey
Absolutely perfect, thank you
Great video! Used to go to Malta lots scuba diving! Beautiful place, impressed you got to be the only people there! Awesome outro :-)!
I have just discovered your videos and I love them to the point where I feel that I am there with you. Thank you. K
Luv, as long as you can, would you please keep making your vlogs. After years of working in ERs, ICUs, CCUs & last almost 30yrs in ORs... I became disabled... so being able to see the brilliance of the world 🌎 through your clogs is a blessing. Stay safe luv & God bless you 🙏. ❤ 🕊 🚢 🚣♂️ 🚣♀️ 🛥 🛶 ⛵
Vielen Dank, dass Du uns ein älteres Video hast erhalten können. Ich sehe gerne wie sehr sich die Menschen entwickeln. Danke fürs Teilen! ❤️
the video editing here is pretty amazing... love watching.
I just discovered your channel. Literally this morning and binged most of your videos. It is nice to see you in Malta 😁
Hope you had a great time here.
That water in Malta! So clear!
Can we see more of Rory in the future please? ;) As for the visas... We have had so many problems getting US visas for the crew over the last year, it has caused us quite a lot of problems. Glad you managed to get it all sorted!
That shot of the steps in the sun at 4:50 is absolutely incredible. LOVING your videos, can't wait to see the next one (I've watched them all, ha).
Excellent videos !
I like these videos , that lady is so organised and focused .
I absolutely LOVE your videos! Thank you so much for sharing your fascinating, hard working experiences with us. How do you learn/know how to order provisions in different countries? Do you have a budget or is it flexible depending on the owner? So many questions🤣. Thank you again!!!
I imagine you can't keep a job on a ship being any other way.
Malta looks beautiful!! One thing driving me nuts, your name label almost peeling on your passport haha. :)
What a special treat in having the Blue Lagoon all to yourselves, I have been there many times & never saw it like that. Wonderful place & lovely country.
This is fascinating. Didn’t even think about visa requirements for crew.
Hope you enjoy America’s west coast! The best coast. 👍🏻
Sick video! Cheers
Great sight seeing adventure.
So love Malta
great video as always. when see this video want to go to malta
Great video, thank you! But …. what does a boat crew do during a brief holiday just before a transatlantic crossing? Go on a boat ride, of course! 😂 Great fun!
You guys are awesome
I'd love to go to Malta sometime. My little brother ran the Sunseeker agency there back in 2015-16, he loved it there.
I didn't know Malta is so beautiful !! I've been told about it few times before but didn't get a chance so most definitely when I do .... I didn't think it could get any prettier with the day shots and then it was evening and like WOW ....
Sorry to see that process for a Visa took longer then even I thought, but I'm happy everything went through. Hope coming to the US is fun, and no bad encounters on the way or while you're in the US.
Nice to see a SAFFA on board, hello from Pretoria!!
Agree, greetings from Pretoria!
Love seeing fellow Aussies seeing the world and being great ambassadors for Australia
Hi I like your vids - very fun to watch thanks
Lovely.
Ahhh We missed you, next time on Malta give a PM and we will show you around!!
I loved Malta but I only had a few days. Next time I will spend a week
always wanted to experience working on yachts, cruise ships are taking its toll on me lol
Rocking on South Africa ✌✌👍👍
Great videos! Keep up the good work :)
Greetings from Malta! :)
Ahahahaah I was watching some of you videos that came up on feed than I saw you posted this one. I'm from Malta what a coincidence
Fab vlogg 🤩✌
Just found your videos! I love them! Can’t wait to see where you are next!
Awesome video. SO who cooks when you are away?
I noticed The World is apparently in Malta at the moment. :)
You sound oh so English for an Aussie. Nice feel good video. Can’t wait to travel again.
Looked like a great trip! Malta looks stunning as well. How come you guys didn’t just sail to Malta?
It's probably more expensive to sail and berth there, given the times spent in transit and waiting for the visas to be processed. If M/Y Revelry is a busy charter boat, there's probably a relief crew onboard to serve the next group of guests too.
What did you study to become a yacht chef? Where did you study from and how did you land these jobs?
Wow !! Why didn't I know about this type of job when I was young ?!?!?!?!?
What made you leave Arience?? Love that you have been putting out more content!
Her fiance is on Revelry.
What watch do you wear? Please let me know. Many thanks and happy belated Birthday😀
Your Air BNB was in limits of Pieta/Msida not Valletta, overlooking Creek Marina.
Do you need to show your visas for every country your boat visits? And do guests have to have them also? Thank you for the video! I hope you are all having fun! :)
Yes and yes - customs come onboard and everyone has to gather outside on the aft deck to see them - and now that's when we also do COVID tests 😖
Great videos!! New subs! There is an American Embassy in Madrid. You could have flown directly from Mallorca to Madrid. Wasn't that an option? (Edited: I saw in the comments why you choose Malta instead of Madrid)
The rest of the crew got to go to Madrid, but I'm very glad we got to go to Malta :)
Amazingly Beautiful - so is Malta 😜💋🌹
What a lovely redheaded mermaid Malta got ;-)
Great video, why did you travel to Malta for the visa? No options closer to the boat or just a excuse gor a great trip. Keep up the nice videos.
We had a very short time window to get the visa, and Malta was the only place that had appointments available - lucky for us I guess!
@@the_crewchef Thanks, I was wondering the same thing - there's a US consulate in Frankfurt, I think. Hope you enjoy your stay in our country!
@@madr309 yes we have indeed an embassy in Frankfurt.
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
🤘🤘🤘
lol-- its amazing that when your 30 -ish, friends, relationships, travel. food, experiences, coming and going , then after that you save buy a flat or house , make a couple of kids, raise them til they're of age[ travel is the last thing on your mind, because you'll need the money for mortgages and diapers]..... then when you hit 60 like me, it rarely matters- ha you've been there done that. its very cyclical in nature.
Hi, may I ask why you had to fly to Malta to get the visas? Wasn't possible to get them in Spain? Thank you!
Where in Aussie are you from? Adelaiden here.
Please keep making videos! You have a very unique life style & it is very interesting to watch. Also do you have an Instagram or Twitter?
Yes I do! Instagram is @thecrewchef come see the BTS haha!
How many visas do you need? One for EU and one for the US?
How would someone become an engineer/mechanic doing this?
Well, I saw a South African passport among the lot... :)
Love your channel! The tourist stuff is great, but I'd love to see more boat stuff.
How come you get by with only a B1/B2 Visa... dont you need a C1/D1 Visa as a seaman anymore?
Did you run into the Bravo channel Med crew?
Why Malta for the visa? Is your boat registered there?
What kind of visa you got? Business visitor or tourist visa?
Always wondered how much time off you get in an average month if there's only 2 of you cooking.
If we don't have guests onboard, we typically get weekends off. But when guests are on, so are we - full time!
@@the_crewchef oh that's great :) ty for the reply :)
What's the advantage to getting your visa renewed in Malta (apart from the great weather)?
yes, i would be interested to know why? must beAmerican embassy's that are closer, easier to get to?
Yes was wondering as well, especially as at least in Frankfurt is an embassy as well. Maybe due to flag of the Yacht they were in.
So the US embassy spelled receipt wrong @ 5:28 ?
It’s written in Americanish 😀😀
Was it easy to get to Malta? We are going on a trip from Ibiza, Sardinia, Taormina, Malta and Corfu. Do you think we will have complications entering these posts? Most of us have the vaccine/ covid tests and everyone is either a European citizen or a family of the European citizen.
Malta is part of the EU.
James so even if I’m not European I can enter port to port easily without quarantine if I’m coming from European countries?
@@leandragoytizolo4260 If you've already entered the EU legally you should be able to travel freely within its borders. Covid restrictions notwithstanding, of course.
Why Malta please?
5:28 passport collection reciept? I am sure that receipt is 'ei' and not 'ie'. American embassy now has even issues with their own language. if you write something wrong they send you back to do everything over... BTW why did you go to embassy in Malta to get this done?
To be fair, it's not *their* language. ;)
because they had appointments available in the time frame they needed
America has its own unique way of spelling (and using) English words. Their own grammar, too. But I don't think that even Americans spell receipt as 'reciept'. Not officially, anyway.
Why did you need to go to Malta though? Can't you just go to the closest embassy in Spain?
No appointments were available soon enough in Spain, so off to Malta it was!
@@the_crewchef Cool, thanks to US consular incompetence you get a nice vacation in Malta! :)
I just found your channel so not sure if it's been addressed in a different video. For a visa run do you have to pay for your own flights and air bnb and such or does the yacht company/owner pay for it since it's required to keep the crew onboard?
Because it's work related, the vessel covers the costs - nice right!
@@the_crewchef that's amazing! I hoped it would be the case :)
Wait a South African? ZA represent :O
It's my country
That water ....
US? Isn't the Med season just around the corner?
You're right! We're not hitting the med this year, we're heading to Alaska instead whoop!
Alaska huh, way cool. Bucket list stuff right there.
@@the_crewchef WOW! I hope you keep us updated.. Panama Canal or north-west passage?
Why didn’t you just go to the embassy in Frankfurt? Why Malta?
Australians have Visa Waiver with the US, why need a Visa?
I'm more curious about how you guys managed to get around Malta without passports, even to the extent of hiring a boat. Would you be in trouble if there was a roadblock? Or are there supplementary/auxiliary identifications that are accepted in lieu of a passport?
Malta is a very small island, we stayed within about a 40min drive radius, and no passport or ID checks or anything like that 👍
Maybe you don’t need to carry ID in Malta, or maybe the Police don’t to random road blocks. Here in the U.K. you don’t need to have ID, you don’t even need to carry your driving license when driving (but does save a trip to the police station to show it).
Officially you do need to carry an ID in Malta, but (a) it can be any form of ID as long as it looks semi official (b) they’re tourists and Maltese police are usually lenient towards tourists (unless they look/act North African) and (c) this was in the middle of the pandemic, police had more important things to do than checking on a couple of tourists. Also (d) you can always keep a photo of your passport in your phone and show the pickup receipt to prove that your passport is at the embassy.
👍☑️🏝️
for the algo!
Why Malta for a visa run ? Is your yacht registered in Valetta ??????????
Closest embassy most likely, Flag State of yacht has noting to do with VISAs.
@@liamgrech1 Given their flights to get to Malta is why I asked. Malta wasn't the closest embassy.
Bulgarian living in London here and a proud US Visa holder. Easy enough to get it here but why did you all need to go get your visas in Malta, can you elaborate on that?
It's probably the closest US embassy to them at the time.
@@outremer91 It looks like the flew from Spain via Frankfurt on the way there. One of the largest US consulates is in Frankfurt so there must’ve been another reason to continue on to Malta.
Yea you have to have all your paper work to get in to the states but there are a specific type people that do not have to have one page of paper work to get in and they can stay as long as they like and even get $1200 ATM card to boot ....kinda nice right lol
Aussie Aussie Aussie
What kind of salary does this work come with? Medical coverage, etc? I am truly curious.
Is it my imagination or are half the people working yachts Australian? I mean I am exaggerating but not by much it seems like.
Commonwealth citizens don't need visas to work on a UK or crown dependency flagged vessels. That's why you see lots of south africans and others on red ensign flagged yachts.
I thought that Malta was under UK reign? When did it become part of the US?
They were in Europe. They are crossing Atlantic to USA, so they need visa to enter US. So, they went to the US embassy in Malta to get visa for them.
