What happens when a SuperYacht is sold? Every yacht is different and will have a different story. Here I talk about what can happen to the crew when a yacht is for sale and then sold.
What does it mean when in an interview the management agency tell you the yacht is for sale?

  • They keep asking me if my 23’ boat cones with a crew. I tell them I’m not for sale!

  • From my friend..."The moment you buy a yacht, it's already for sale"

  • I once considered a job as electronics tech on a geophysical exploration ship. Very interesting job, great pay. BUT, the catch was the job was renewed each year depending on the contracts they got! You could be unemployed instantly if a contract was not renewed. No good. I passed it up for a job at an oilfield service company. I stayed with them 28 years!

  • All boats are always for sale - just a matter of price and inclination.

  • Better and better. Your videos are growing more sophisticated and interesting. Photography is excellent. I find the displaying of the vessel's statistics to be very helpful. Well done. The only problem is that I want to see more and more of the same. Well done, eSysman.

  • This is simply indicative of the real world. The same applies to companies that bring on new CEOs, executive management or even if the company is sold. The old section, be it the executive committee, middle management or anyone really who is within line of sight is at risk of being replaced for the same reasons. A good owner, CEO, executive or manager will first determine level of competence with the existing employ and then trust. If you havent registered well in both areas with your new boss then you are at risk. Good luck!

  • The yacht I was working on got sold, and the new owner offered the crew new contracts, but as the offer was a reduction in pay, most of the crew, including me, decided to leave.

  • While I've been retired a few years from the MN i would have thought that a new owner who wanted to fire all the crew would need to have at least a skeleton crew ready to relieve them, just to comply with ISM, port security regs etc? I have only once been part of a crew which took over from a full crew who was leaving and even with a few passing conversations and helpful notes it was a steep learning curve as boats are complicated pieces of machinery and few if any are the same. Interesting videos which I've just discovered keep them coming !

  • E-man, when I get my new yacht, I will hire your first, and never fire you, because your vids are so good, and you are the yachting Sensei.!

  • I assumed that the less "secure" job (less attached to a particular boat) would be the cook, who is the most likely to be replaced or to follow the new owner.
