I’m waiting for a few more parts to come in for the install, but as soon as they arrive, I will be installing these brakes, I’ll make a comparison between the two setups, perform a test to see which is actually better with numbers, and show you what is needed in more detail.
These brake calipers are made out of aluminum, so if any area of the caliper isn’t painted, it isn’t a big deal as it will not rust. Nissan made the same version of these calipers out of steel, and those need much more attention as any are that is bare steel will rust and begin to corrode as soon as it comes in contact with oxygen (& water, & salt). So take your time to paint your brakes and protect them from the elements. If you’re looking to do this to your Audi, Honda, Subaru, or whatever brakes you have, instead of picking up the Nismo stickers as I did, pick up your appropriate one, and then install them before you spray on your clear coat.
If you have any questions, feel free to send me an email at milanmastracci@gmail.com. Thanks for watching!! :)

I always hang parts with a wire or string when painting. Garage door tracks work great. You don't have to touch or rearrange parts to get every possible angle. Immediately before and afterward- hit it a minute with a hair dryer to warm, remove dust, and speed tack each coat.
I enjoy your videos. The information you share is not new but the way you share it is. Production values, process, cinematography, script... All better than just the forums we've been using all these years. I still watch every video you post even though some of us have already been through most of this. Keep going, you'll only get better.
Leopold Whylie have you ever worked on a car? Dude is spreading misinformation.
Dam! That looks amazing. Great job!
Went through these same steps + painting mine and in just a 1000 miles the paintnt started chipping / peeling away. Asked those who also painted theirs that have had no issue and all said I made a mistake which you are doing also. I neglected to cure them in an oven. Watched many more videos and this is very often recommended.
Very good point. When using the same paint on engine headers, you can do a cycle with the engine idling to heat them up and cure the paint before getting it too hot. You can’t do that with brakes but they are small enough to fit them in the oven and cure.
At what temperature?
Nice job coating the friction surface with paint! Don't forget also to put a nice layer of grease on both sides of the rotor
sakalelis69 OMFG HILARIOUS
your ridiculous! obviously you havnt bought rotors with a coat on them that comes off after using the brakes a couple times ....
@@robertosaenz4635 You obviously don’t know how to sense sarcasm.
Lmfao
Just blow the pistons out, paint and bake in oven then put back together
I was wondering if the Cadillac brembo calipers would cost the same as the 300zx setup you did? Im stuck on which to choose because yours came out very good for what I want to do on my s14.
detail oriented! every service I spray, brush, wipe and repeat when working undercar.
Amazing job well done! But doesn't that paint on your rotor will come off in time?
Pro tip: the first coat of primer should be very very light, just a light dusting. You should still be able to see the the original finish under the first dusting coat. Then 2nd coat should cover everything.
Can't wait to see what you got planned for the rear brake set-up.
love the effort...nice work
Great choice on color. Great instruction in the vid as well
Hey bud. I have a question for you as to the Cadillac CTS-v brembo breaks. I want to use the rear brembos from the cts on my 2013 mustang Boss 302. I have the 4 pistons brembos on the from and want to upgrade my rears. Would the ctv rear brembo work?
I would be concerned of the longevity of the stickers. They will endure some crazy heat. Is the top clear coat enough to keep them in place and not burn out?
Good job!!! Nice result
very nice...the VHT paint products are pretty popular. And for very good reason, it looks like they do a very good job. I've seen people do them on valve covers and they look awesome. Nice job and great video my man...
Does the decal stay in place? How does it do with the heat, brakedust, etc?
If you apply the clear coat overtop of it all, it seals it and you will not run into problems 👍
Yep I noticed that, brilliant idea.
How are these calipers holding up after a few years? Has the paint faded or been stripped due to brake fluid?
I was curious with a brand new rotor , can you paint the outer edge or venting area of the perimeter of the rotor? Is that of any value, as it does tend to rust also and can be visible ••• those did turn out quite nice btw
It helps, but there are also rotors that already have corrosion resistant coatings on the hat and on the venting areas. The thing is that nothing lasts forever when you live in a climate where salty winters are a regular thing - it's still just iron underneath that stuff and brake dust itself is also corrosive over time.
Your workmanship looks great, well done mate 👍
Cool Video 👌🏼 with a very nice result !💪🏼
Really awesome result I didn't expect to like so much a black caliper but it is really nice
Thanks buddy!! Its hard to imagine what would look good and what won't. Sometimes you just have to go for it 😁
Does the top part of the rotor need to be prepped in any way such as with a sandpaper or something before applying the primer and paint? Thanks
Very nice work on those calipers. Where did you purchase the brake kit.
I hope your channel grows. Your videos are very well done.
To speed up the curing process during drying,Would it be best to speed up the curing process with a heat gun?
Lovely job mate they look banging
What did you use for aftermarket brake lines?
That quality though👌👌
Thanks Jorge 😊
2 and a half years later, how well has the paint held up?
Excellent video - very clear.
can i use a common paste painter? Even if its not Resistant to heat?
Very nice job done. Bravo!
Do you know if theres a similar cheap brake upgrade for a Sentra SER Spec V?
Great look. also, for a $60 calipers it will be good to check o-rings seals and retainers!
Looks great and amazing job for the price 👍🏽
Nice job man 👍
im a brazilian and i watch your videos about a year. keep on it bro. your chanel is full of content! consagrs
Thanks for stopping by to give them a watch :)
How is your paint still holding up. After doing a review online, people are saying VHT Paint is Crap. LMK how yours is still holding up with daily driving. Thanks
Good afternoon I would like to know how many can of paint and how many can of primer and clear coat did u use..
Looks good and good job on the video. Keep at it. I would ignore some of the comments below. Giving pointers and positive feedback is one thing, but some these are just negative in an attacking way. There is no need for that or wasting any worries on them.
VHT Sunburst Copper matches Nissan GTR Brembo brakes
you should of painted it red, it adds about 2-5 hp
No it doesnt. On 4 piston calipers its adds about 10.
+ReggaeDubSoundSystem Inline 4 brakes 🤣
You mean flat four brakes
and sticker add 5 more hp :D
your mom adds about 2,000 lbs though
Looks amazing and will look great with the nismo wheels
Sure hope so!! 🤘
Looks really good 👍👍
Thank you for providing the kind of KZhead tutorials that are truly informative to the viewer. The instructions are clear and easy to follow. Keep up the great work.
Nice! Z32 brakes are a great choice, but I think those needs a really good master cylinder. Have you bought a better master cylinder than the stock one ?
Not yet, but I will get around to upgrading more than just that so I get good pedal feel. I'll probably upgrade the master and the booster all in one shot
Did you buy the gray option because I don’t see a white and red one (for the nismo stickers)
"OLFA SILVER autoblock SVR 2" best précision cutter ever ! good vidéo, good job : )
Those look awesome man!
Thanks buddy!! I'm pumped to throw them on the 240 😁
cant wait to see them installed
Me too!! 😊
Forget notification squad now it's bead squad 👍

Can you make a close up video with recent footage I wanna see how it’s after long time
I have a question for you. What is the reason why you applied paint to the brake rotors? Would it be best to do that for corner areas like buffalo New York? And also would that cause any problems with the brake pads overtime
Personally I would have masked off the friction areas on the rotors. I would consider primer and paint to be a contaminant on the brake pads when he starts using the brakes. But thats just me
Great video. Would the caliper painting work if the caliper is on the car and if it's one piston.
It should, you just need to mask off a lot more things
As Jay said, you would definitely have to mask off more things, and it might be a trick harder to get the entire caliper painted, but if you aren't confident with remove the caliper and then re-bleeding the brakes, then doing it while still attached to the car will work 👍
can you please make a updated video regarding caliper painting whiles its still on the car
Theres plenty of videos out there...
If your only concerned with particulate dust (aluminum) you should use the P100 (3M) pink particulate filter.
You do such an amazing job
Thanks buddy 😊 Kind words are always appreciated!!

Can you give me the link for the Calipers ? I’m deff looking to do this for my car any suggestions for a q50 ?
It looks good but does it last ?
Could you shave flush to the lower level? I want to do that but I don’t know if it’s safe?
Hey guys, Chrisfi...........oops wrong channel
Paulog1990 😂😂😂
No is not wrong channel, is his brother !
🤭 😂🤣😂😂😂😂😂
What u would suggest for brakes upgrade for my new Passat 2017 model ?
Ikbel Hammami porshe cayenne brakes and rotors or audi q7
can you do this brake upgrade on a 2010 nissan rogue?
Really nice job, gonna attempt that on a pair of Acura RL's for my EK lol Only thing missing was to show them installed on the car tho.
why did you spray the rotor hubs without masking the rest of the rotors? doesnt the paint ruin the brake pads?
No it doesn't. I didn't mask off the rotor so that the pads will cut a clean line through the paint, so wherever the pad doesn't touch, stays painted, and doesn't rust.
It would have been smart to paint the whole rotor and then just use a fine grit to sand most of the paint off of the contact patch. That would minimize exposed metal and keep from building up too much paint on the pads.
agenthelios1 rotors do not warp the technical term is called run out so before you criticize someone know your own shit
Yes...yes it does.
Dude, just wear gloves! you know your fingers have oils on them and then you go handling the parts after cleaning them.
Cant wait for the install video .... you gonna wait til spring or do it sooner?
No I'll be doing it sooner!! I'm just waiting on a few things to arrive through the mail, but it should be soon 😊
Cool glad to here that !
Looks great
Whats the reason u painted ur rotors? Don't the pads scratch the paint off?
How do you find which brake it will fit Ur car?
Nice job how much for a Honda Accord
Nice job!!!
If you use a heat gun or hair dryer when the clear is hazy. It'll help the gases escape and clear up faster :)
Good tip Jeff!! 😊
Great job sir.
Thanks brother!! :)
240 looking sweet , not my style of vehicle but looking nice
Thanks man 😊 To each their own
anybody else got sync issue at the end? Nice vid. Did you tape off the brake line holes??
It came plugged, so yes 😁
If you ever want to powder coat those i will hook you up. I'm located in Toronto.
Where you located i got a lexus man need some crazy colour
Good job👍
How much of the primer, paint and clear did you use? Planning on doing this on my akebonos
I'd get 1 can per 2 calipers. So if you just want to do your fronts, get 1 can of primer, 1 of the base, and then 1 clear. If you want to do fronts and back, get double that 😊
Thanks for the quick reply man.
Not a problem 👍
very informative video
Dang these calipers look killer, great job. Putting a Nismo sticker was a smart idea
No. Why not AMG, or "M Power" ???
You did a nice job on the painting of the calipers. Maybe tape up the rubber boots before shaving the caliper surfaces to avoid any alloy shavings getting lodged between the rubber boots and bore next time. Also not a good idea painting the braking surface of the rotor. Otherwise some good tips, Thank you..
What is your rms finish?
What shade of lipstick do you wear?
What is the mounting hole distance of the caliper?
Nice man!
Thanks Mikey!! :)
"I'm very detail oriented "......then sprays primer all over the friction surfacr. SMH.
Yea & it will be scrubbed off after he uses the brakes twice. Not a big deal at all.
Some brake cleaner will clean that right off!!!
@@Andy-bm6zo Yeah and now you have a fucked rotor surface because you have uneven deposits of brake pad material and random junk gumming up your pad contact area. But anyway you know that there's going to be some amount of bullshit in this video because he's using slotted AND drilled rotors from some cheapo no-name kit with generic ceramic pads, that stuff is usually junk.
@@kaimingleung1396 my thoughts exactly
@@kaimingleung1396 Presumably your comments are all theoretical, since a thin layer of rattle can paint makes no more difference to the rotor than the surface rust that builds up a week of rain; the excess paint disappears immediately upon use. This is a really common action and is has no effect on pad bed-in or braking capability. Dry paint doesn't behave the same way as a lubricant like grease/oil, because it isn't the same thing.
Damn good job
Do u have any idea why car manufacturer never spray paint the rotor???
Did you use a special high heat sticker or just a normal one
You don't need a high heat sticker, but I'd get a high quality one like 3M or Avery.
milanmastracci cool thanks
Have you ever had issues with the decal trying to offgass when the calipers go through a heat cycle? I mean, you used high heat primer, high heat paint, and high heat clear, but then embedded a vinyl decal in there. I would like to do this, but the decal seems iffy.
I'm yet to have any problems long term with this process. I hope that helps!
Are you New york by chance or New jersey I would want to you to do my calipers....real talk
Can you do a follow up on the geadlights you restored on the VW?
I would love to, but since that video, my brother got in a bit of an fender bender, and had to replace the 1 headlight, 1 fender, and front bumper. So instead of buying a new OEM one, he found a set of eBay projectors and replaced both. They still looked crystal clear even though they got damaged
Hey do u think that those calipers would fit any nissan car like a cube?
I don't think they would be a direct bolt on as they were for my Nissan. I wouldn't be surprised if there is a cheap DIY BBK for your car
Awesome job!!!!!
Thanks man!! :)
6;56 3 days later~~~ JK, when I looked at the brake kit when they were installed, I thought they came shipped like that, now I'm impressed how professional they look
What if they are new an painted red? Do i need to sand it?
Check out VHT Engine Paint - Metallic Burnt Copper I sprayed my calipers with that, a VHT brake Clear and high heat primer and they held up for 2 years now. Lots a details on forums about this. Great video !
This video taught me how to get tiny aluminum filings into my piston seals for future leaks and possible failure!! Thanks, Buddy!!!
This comment taught me how you don't have to have any knowledge about the subject but can still comment freely!! Thanks, Buddy!!!
Lol you masked the pistons for paint but left them open while grinding aluminum into them - so that makes you full of knowledge about the subject and able to assume others knowledge? Good come back bro - I am incinerated.....
