cans Im loving the new STI, it was hard to chose a colour for the brakes but I feel like it was the right choice. They look so good. Thanks for watching new videos are coming soon.
This guy is seriously one of the best people in the business, i called to get a custom paint in cans a few years back which no other shop could do, not only did he get the exact colour but also sent me photos as he was mixing to make sure he was spot on. I wish you all the best in this build and will be following this the whole way though. Thanks again for your amazing work!
really don’t get why you aren’t 10x as popular, you put a ton of effort into these videos & you captivate the watcher the whole time
He odes
Not gonna lie when I read the title expected the usual bodge "painted on the car" type job. But just goes to show you put the time and effort into removing the brakes, prepping and masking correctly you can achieve good results even with a set of aerosol cans. Excellent job.
Thank god finally someone who uses the stickers as a masking tape rather than leaving them on there to get burnt off.
Very professional work, thanks for the video.
It's the attention to the smallest details that have the greatest effect. Those calipers and rotors look superb! Good on ya mate! 👍
Congrats on the new car. Best looking STI made. Cant wait to see more videos on it.
Those rotors and calipers look amazing. I honestly didn’t think they would look that good!
Great to have you back Dave!!
I’ve just used VG paints to paint up my brake calipers on my Mazda RX-7. The Brembo red is fantastic and it’s completely transformed the brakes. First time painting with 2k clear and I love the shiny result. Will be purchasing more stuff from these guys in the future. Might even give that colour shift stuff a go on some radio control gliders that need refinishing 👍 Thanks for making this stuff available in Australia.
Hi Dave, watched lots of your videos, all have great content! This is the best one yet! Can't wait to see the next instalment!😀
One of the thing that just blew my mind away that tricky thing with the stickers... u just give me a lot of ideas my friend..... love your video....
Nice choice of STi,Dave! Love the calipers too.Welcome back!
Wow, love the color of the brake calipers. Great video! Thanks!!!
Nice car new project can't wait to see more you did a great job on the calipers and disc thank you for the video
Great job, and lovely colors. Keep it up!
Wow a beautiful job. Well done!
Great vide calipers look awsome great colour
Great finish 👍
Was really confused by paint over sticker. after finish, wow! This is how it’s done properly.
That is a beautiful job on those calipers!!
Awesome video and new car. My favourite model of sti too! ❤️
FInally someone who uses the good shit instead of autozone specials. Thank you a ton for this!
Looks great!
Glad to find a video that is a proper job removing the calipers. I want to color match my calipers the Honda Milano Red. That red is available from DupliColor Perfect Match which is an acrylic lacquer. I was thinking I could possibly get that paint to hold up to the heat if I used specific for calipers primer and clear… but those are all enamels and was worried about putting acrylic lacquer on enamel. I might just be over thinking things… but this video made me feel I can just use an etching primer and 2K clear… so going to give it a shot. The car is just a weekend cruiser… not getting to extreme braking temperatures.
Nice car and nice job man. Didn't even like the color choice at first and then when I saw them on the car, I was like .... I need this in my life!
You sir are a pro and a joy to watch!
Thanks, appreciate it.
Very good job..... They look fantastic..
That turned out amazing! Also, sweet car man. Now I really want to redo my calipers!
Thank you very much for your video sharing, which allowed us to get to know and learn more!
Amazing man will be doing my car aswel. It will be a slow restore but it will get there. Wish I had more room tho. Home restores are a pain lol
Awesome paint job on brakes and rotors!!!!
Looks great sir 👍👍👍
Man O Man" those Calipers look fantastic, in that tangerine candy 💥 Gheeesh🤗
That came out 🔥🔥🔥🔥 af!!! Nice!!
Just amazed! :D
very like this paint job.
Clean work . fo sho
Great video Dave, just remember to never paint on mounting surfaces. It's dangerous to paint any mounting surface for wheels or brakes etc as the parts can not be tensioned correctly. The paint will not give a perfectly flat surface and can cause the parts to lose tension as the paint wears from contact. If these surfaces are painted then you simply need to sand them back to bare metal. If you look at factory painted calipers and discs you'll find these mounting surfaces bare or possibly with a strong bonded coating eg on discs. As a mechanic though, I love your customising videos.
Great job bro!
Looks great! I have the same DBA rotors too! But I was wondering, are the rotors/disc brakes the same dimensions for the 2004 WRX to the STI? I'm asking because i think one caliper is seizing and trashed that one rotor. I went ahead and ordered some gold Brembos brake kit and comes with regular slotted rotors. I want to maybe replace it with DBA ones again if the dimensions are the same
Can you do a follow up video on this on how well your paint method has held up after a year or so?
Another nice one Dave.
My god those are gorgeous
You should of showed how to bleed the calipers so that juice doesn't get on all your beautiful work! I use clear tubing to bleed them and keep the juice off anything i don't want destroyed. Just a thought.
Fantastic you took all steps didn’t cut corners
Awesome work ✨👍👍👍🇦🇺🇦🇺
Thank you ! I learned more from your video than i have searching all over the web on painting my brembos. Like what clear coat and primer to use for adhesion and durability. Etch primer sounds very promising and 2k clear sounds just like what i need for high use high temp resistant with solvent protection. Would you know if 2k holds up against brake fluid ? I dont plan on being haphazard when bleeding my brakes, but I've heard that if so much as a drop gets on a painted caliper, it would eat through its paint immediately like acid. I think im just going to go with the kit on the linked site in your description. To take out all the hunting and guesswork.
Hey thanks. The 2k is very good at defending against brake fluid. If left sitting on there it may tarnish if it's thin layers of clear.
Great video, amazing results. Can we get this paint in the USA? If not, what would you use instead?
Man those look good!!!
These came out sick bro
That typo at the end had me rollin. Bloody great job!
Nice job. Did you flush the brake fluid out completely?
Love the blobeye STI. I have one myself. Don't have the space to spraypaint my calipers myself - apartment life sucks - but someday I will take them off and get them powdercoated. Deciding between STI cherry blossom candy red, or just a more pearly/candy stock gold color. Looks absolutely killer - that black pearl was crazy.
Excellent 👍 👏
This is a awesome video dude! Your jacked btw! Keep it up your a amazing content creator
Haha thanks mate.
lovely!!
That color is sick
Cant wait for more videos on this car
Damn good work 👍
U did a great job
You can now buy Car-Rep 2K clear in Australia. It has unlimited shelf life and activates as it leaves the nozzle and not in the can.
Damn they look killer!🤜🏻🤛🏻 another way to paint the slots. You can grab a touch up paint pen and clear coat pen ( sold in pairs most times ) and just draw a line in the slot with the pen then go over it with the clear pen when dried. But still leave you with the hubs face n outer vents to deal with.🤷🏼♂️ either way killer job man 👌🏻👏🏻
kinda cool.... ! not sure why you would replace stuff after you painted it ? seems back wards ?
Thanks for the video Dave. It's been too long since your last video.
You can also use compressed air to pop the pistons out of the caliper
I have the power. Became the 1000th person to like this video haha. Great job on the caliper respray too. Silly question btw, why didn't you use a paint stripper?
Wow amazing 😲😲😲
Man, if the slots on the rotors had that same tangerine color to match the calibers. Whoa!
Hi bro u recommend power coating better then paint cans
Dave, its nearly been a year since you posted this video. Can you give us an update on the disc paint? Cracking, embedded brake dust, rust? Thank you for your tutorial.
Agreed
Curious, wouldn't leaving black paint on the disc slots eventually peel off from heat and adhere/contaminate the brake pads?
Keep up the vids bro 👌💯
Yeah the skids. Just like the original Custom Spray Mods videos. Brakes look awesome.
Beautiful. Wish they made a true fluorescent yellow /green. Can find powder but none in a spray can.
Great video! I'm looking to do the same!
Won't those brake calipers get red hot when doing hard braking on a hot day? Did you need to use a high heat paint so it does not bubble or peel away from high heat?
Nice job!!! Question: is the Miracle Paint similar to POR-15?
Yes pretty much the same
Do yuo remeber how lon time it took to paint them?
Look amazing dave! is there a lazy way to paint the calipers without removing them?
Yeah man I have a video of that.
Does this last longer than powdercoating. Coz honestly the calipers can get really hot and start to chip off!!
Love the color! What is the color name /code?
Hey bro you must know alot about rotors so here's my question lol what cause grooves on the rotors and a lil bit of shaking while braking I have the r1 concepts with the ceramic pads ...
Hey mate, can these kits be used to paint rocker covers and other high heat engine parts as well, or is there another kit for something like that? Cheers mate, love the vids.
Thanks mate yes the kit is great for anything.
damn that blobeye looking good on black
We missed you, man.
How long before you add the clear to prevent wrinkles?
Wow looks gr8! How many cans u need for all cars rotor and calipers
1 of each can does 4 callipers.
it is a beautiful car
Nice👍
You should have left the mating surfaces clean. Now the paint wil wear on those surfaces that might loosen the wheel bolts/ nuts.
So I want to paint my calipers a certain color and they don’t offer it as a high heat paint. So my question is can I use a high heat primer and clear but use a regular dupli color spray.
Nice job.
No need high temp paint?
Looks awesome brother, little spell check error @ 3:24 mins with " 3 coats Silver BaseCOATS" not Baseoats! Keep the vids happening mate, I miss the tips and tricks!
That was a test. You passed. Haha.
Passed
@@buddahae86 you also passed the second tist
Wowowiwa
👌👌👌
What are other brand colours cans I can use? Since you guys don’t ship to NZ? HELP????
What os the name of the final colour? Thanks👌
Missed you, please do leather seat painting again, maybe there’s a newer method or something
